Six Year Surgiversary

 Hi Family,
I am thrilled to announce that today is my six year surgiversary.  Having this surgery was one of the best decisions in my life.  I have zero regrets and tons of gratitude.  While I am iron and B12 deficient, I gladly accept that over being prediabetic, needing cholesterol medicine, having my arthritis give constant pain, and needing a seat belt extender when I fly.

While I had a 45 pound regain before reaching goal, because of my relapse, I have lost 30 pounds of that.  I'm so grateful to be sober and back to losing the weight.  The best thing is that I've lost exactly 100 pounds since the day of my consultation with my wonderful surgeon, Dr. Neil Marymor.

Just really needed to share my joy with all of you.

Hugs,
Trish

Aloha Trish and congratulations!! I just noticed that we had our surgeries about a month apart!! Mine was July, 2006. I, too, had a regain of around 30 lbs at one point, but now have gone back down to my lowest weight....around 150.....from a high of 325!! (I'm 5'10" TALL)

Sometimes I like to imagine what my life would be like today if I still weighed over 300 lbs.! Oh my! It would be like I was carrying around a large MAN on my back!! Going up and down stairs was impossible; airplanes were a nightmare; restaurants with booths were a curse...OH MY. I know when I first came into OH about 7 years ago (before surgery) and would hear stories of people losing over 100 lbs....I was skeptical...BUT I believed everyone here, and now can hopefully be a help to someone like I was 7 years ago.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful story!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Congratulations, Trish!  I am so proud of you.  Your honesty and forthrightness have always impressed me.  Yours is not an easy story to tell, but it is a SUCCESSFUL story and so inspiring!  Good for you!

WOW Serious lurker here is excited about two surgiversaries today. Both Connie and Trish. I am looking at surgery in the near future, and this board has helped overcome many of my concerns. Not once have I read about anyone regretting having the surgery. Bravo to all, and special kudus to the celebratory gals!
