Monday...here we go again!
Usual sources of Fibre are probably too harsh for your new healing pouch so things should be very liquid and nothing like Metamucil or anything else that can expand and solidify and cause more troubles if not enough fluids are drunk..Your volumes of mushy food are so small there's not much to come out as someone already mentioned above...
I read on other OH boards that some surgeons allowed MOM ( Milk of Magnesia), try also attacking from the other end ( to save your pouch from anything irritating) and use suppositories available at any pharmacy..Dulcolax suppositories might be good for you, there are cheaper ones usually containing Glycerin which take longer to act, but Dulcolax worked the best for me.
You could make sure unsweetened applesauce is part of your daily diet, and maybe drink the water of home stewed prunes (cooked without sugar), and puree the prunes as well with a bit of their own cooking water, and get as much of this daily as you can. Both are natural sources of fibre and can be taken in your "mush foods" stage...You might want to puree a mix of boiled broccoli and cauliflower with a bit of their cooking water to make a mush something like babyfood consistency, and freeze some in small portioned ziplocks to nuke as needed for a veg....Mixed in with mashed potatoes you have no idea how good it can taste even if you are only eating tiny spoonfuls at this stage.and they provide minimal natural roughage without binding the intestine.....
But most of all get your liquids in ( water, soups) as this helps too..Didn't the surgeon give some handout with various things to do post-surgery for a graduated eating plan and also covering situations like constipation? It's a common complaint so most surgeons cover it in their literature...By all means phone the surgeon's office about what oral laxatives you are allowed to take at this stage.

Hi Nancy and my OFF family:
Nancy, you are so busy ... I don't know how you keep up. I am tired just ready your post. I had yesterday off and did absolutely nothing, other than run out to Walmart for awhile. Then I watched baseball and read all day.
Maintenance came over and hopefully fixed my dishwasher. At least it worked. I have to see if it turns off. Then my new cleaning lady came over, with her hubby. She/they did a good job. I also found a moving guy (her hubby). Place looks a lot better. Very reasonable, too. I haven't vacuumed since I've been here because, well, I can't. So I'm happy to have found her.
Nancy, I would love to get rid of my spare skin, but I have enough other problems with surgery because of the knee replacements ... so I'll take care of that instead.
Anyway, that's all for now. Have a good day.

That's why we're here. I got a lot of help from the Pennsylvania forum, before I found OFF.

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

No, I had the RNY; it was the only surgery offered back in 2004 when I had my surgery. I 'm happy with mine, although eight years out, I have regained and I'm not happy with that. Now, my knee replacement, not happy at all. Yeah, I lived in Grand Rapids, MI, and had my surgery there. Then got laid off in 2010, moved to Louisiana for a new job, then moved here to Evansville, Ind., for a new job. Hopefully, I won't move again. Getting too old to move.
My Mom's people where from the Grand Rapids area.
You had a bad knee replacement? My DH and the
neighbor across the street, another old farmer,
are the only two people I know unhappy with theirs.
Everybody else says they wish they had done it sooner.
I wouldn't want to have to move either. I retired young
to be with the DH. Hopefully things won't get so bad
I have to try to re-enter the work force. I am a very
part time as. TA working for the DD now.
