Monday What's Happening
Good Morning OFF,
My thoughts and prayers are with Judy right now. I've had scares similar to what she is going through, so I empathize. Mine turned out negative, praise the Lord.
I got up late this morning. Being kind of lazy today.
My volunteer work is this afternoon. My supervisor and I are putting together a proposal so that I can teach a GED class on Saturdays starting in September. I'm really hoping it goes well.
Gotta scoot.
Hugs,
Trish

Good mornin' ya'll.
Well, our youngest NC grandson left for UNC Pembroke this morning. I expect pictures from his parents soon showing his dorm room all organized for the first and last time ever!! He is the most caring grandson we could hope for. When I am gone he always comes to visit and listen to his Grandpa's stories, eat, and nap in the recliner while Grandpa naps in his chair! If I need something moved, carried, fixed, I only have to ask him once. We are gonna miss him sooooooo much. We went and had a little retail therapy this morning.
Trish, I applaud you and all the others on here that do volunteer work. Every year I say I am going to start doing something (driving cancer patients to and from treatments, rocking babies at the NICU). But then I tell myself all my trips here and there would get in the way. I KNOW I could work volunteering around them. So what is holding me back? Apathy? Shame on me!
Judy, you are still in my thoughts and prayers! Breath deep. Whatever needs to be done, you will do it, and you will get through it. If God brings you to it, HE will see you through it!
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Carolyn,
When the right opportunity to volunteer presents itself, you'll jump right in. Mine came when I stopped working at the hospital, and needed something to do with all my training, and experience. Also, bear in mind, you do volunteer work crocheting all those things for your kids, grandkids and friends. That is nothing different. I know a woman who knits beautiful layette's for stillborns so their parents have something beautiful to say goodbye to them in. I couldn't do that. She also knits blankets for my church's preschool children for naptime. Maybe you can crochet lap blankets for chemo patients. I had a dear friend who was dying of cancer and made them for her fellow chemo patients.
Hugs,
Trish

Good morning my OFF sistas!
I missed being able to post yesterday. I feel bad that I never responded to Karen's post. Just never had a spare minute yesterday.
Yesterday was my "day off" from keeping Benny, but I spent a great portion of it shopping for the household and for Benny. Oh, well, at least I got out of the house by myself.
Benny is being a real pill this morning. I think he is turning into a mischievious little imp overnight! Golly, I can't take my eyes off of him for one minute. C'mon preschool! LOL!
Miss my husband so much right now. Still got 3 1/2 more weeks to go. Way too soon for me to give into the blue funk.
I am crocheting my Special Olympics scarves. Got one finished, one halfway, and I started another one yesterday. I'm gonna need more yarn soon. Good thing Christie works at Hobby Lobby. She can bring it home to me in the evenings, and we get to use her employee discount!
My vegetarian diet is going well. Yesterday I loaded up on all kinds of good produce and grains at the store. Today I am going to try making a kale soup. It is such a relief not to worry about am I eating the right carbs? Vegetarian kinda takes care of that for you. Grains, veggies, fruit--all good. A little bit of cheese and eggs and other dairy thrown in. I did buy a littel fish yesterday and some shrimp. We'll have those a couple of nights this week.
Wanted to share this website with those of you who love smoothies: http://www.realage.com/information-on-diabetes/7-diabetes-fr iendly-smoothie-recipes These smoothies are from Dr. Oz's website, Real Age. I thought they were good because of the portion control and also the NUT stats that go with them. Lots of high protein ingredients in these. Thought maybe some of our new folks could use them post surgery.
I'd better go get my shower now. My goal for the week is to get dressed everyday before noon! HA! Lots of luck on that one!
Oh, and special prayers this week for Judy as she waits to find out her test results. Also special prayers for all our sistas who are facing surgery or health or emotional issues this week.
Love you all!

Hi Trish and my OFF family:
I missed being on here yesterday. Slept really late yesterday and just got behind in everything and then had to get to work. Today, got up at 10:30 and was lying in bed when my kitty Juliette came in to greet me. She hasn't done that in awhile. I guess she heard me stirring and wondered why I wasn't out feeding her.
Sorry to hear about Judy ... hope she finds some peace and knowledge about her condition so she can relax again.
I am having an Olympic hangover ... nothing to watch on TV in the afternoon. Actually watching DVR'd Olympic stuff.
Not much else happening. Back to work tonight. Have a good day.

I understand about the Olympics cold turkey cut-off.....I was watching as much as I could, just about anything....
My Dad was Netherlands Olympic Attache for the 1976 Montreal Summer Olympics and the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics...(and I was a simultaneous interpreter hired by the 1980 Lake Placid I.O.C.), so it is a "habit" with me as my Dad was a young sportsman in several disciplines when younger, including the National B team in soccer, and also did Rugby, Water Polo, and Field Hockey....and was slated to go to the 1936 Olympics for soccer but in those days your family paid your way, no freebie handouts, and his Dad died earlier in 1936 so there was no money to send him...He lived with that regret all his life despite the Nazi theme, but maintained his interest in sports the rest of his life which was recognized by the Netherlands IOC in appointing him Attache for the Olympics at the summer and winter games...By then he could not walk much anymore, so marching with the team around the oval ring with the other officials and athletes when they came in and walked around the ring behind their national flag-bearer during Opening Night Ceremonies was out of his capacities...he always regretted it!...
Now I have to wait another 2 years to see the Sochi winter Olympics....and another 2 weeks non-stop TV including early morning ( well. middle of the night) start to the broadcast day in 2014....

Good evening Trish and everyone..
I never did make it here yesterday. I too felt bad that I missed Karen's thread. Not enough hours in a day lately!!
I finally got Pam home from the hospital. It took most of the day. Meds and food to pick up and errands to the bank and such. I just got back home at 8:30PM. Got her all settled in. Her so called boyfriend....and I use that term loosely...is staying with her this week. I am so worn out that at this point it is okay. I will be checking in regularly!!
My daughter and two of my granddaughters came up for the day. Amanda will be moving near Portland,Oregon on Aug. 24th. That makes me so sad. I will miss her so much!! They grow up and move on with their lives. You have to let them fly. She will be going to college out there but first she wants to take a little time off to work and save up some money. She will be living with her boyfriend of almost 4 years. Please pray for their safe travels on the 24th etc. as they are driving her car out there.
I really need to go find something to eat. Then a shower and drop in bed!!
Hope you all had a great day!! Prayers continue for those in need.
Love and hugs to all...connie d
