Aloha OH friends....OMG...I can't believe no one has started the thread this morning!! It's 7:30 a.m. here in Hawaii, and usually there are already several posts.......so here I am.

It is a glorious sunrise here this morning........making the ocean glimmer and any turtle, flying fish or dolphin that makes an appearance can be easily seen.

Usually on Sunday I am at Maui Hospital doing my part-time job of screening newborn babies's hearing. This morning there were only two born yesterday, so my colleague who does paperwork for me called and said she would screen babies, so I get a day off.

I do not post often, but I always read each day, and wish the best for each and every one of you as you go through your lives.....with challenges, successes, and "Ah" moments!!

My little condo by the ocean is my sanctuary, and it is a magnet for little creatures that live in the tropics...namely bugs, ants, and geckos (although we LOVE the geckos because they are a sign of good luck.) I have two kitties so can't have exterminators come in for ants and other bugs, so I try to do it piece meal.......various results. If I leave a tiny bit of milk in a glass at night...in the morning it has about a dozen little winged bugs floating around in it!.....I know.....gross!!

Time for breakfast for me and for my kitties....Poki and Nicki! They have a habit of "tap tap tapping" my leg until I get up an d feed them. No, no...I'm not spoiling my little furry friends...Ha!

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. Love that you are all here...and I miss many of the old timers who used to hang out here.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Aloha Karen,
I was up early this morning, but couldn't post because I had to get ready for church, and get out the door.  My hair takes a while to get the way I like it.

Church was great, but I saw a woman I had been mentoring in our faith, who cut me out of her life suddenly for no reason.  Now, she wants back in, and I don't plan on letting her in at the level we were friends before.  I'll text with her, and see her at meetings at the AA clubhouse, but that's it.

The rest of today is cutting coupons out of today's paper, watching some Phillies game, and doing some housework.  Nothing exciting.

I hope everyone has a blessed day.

Hugs,
Trish

Aloha Tri**** is very difficult to take care of yourself and in doing so let someone else go. I have had friends like that.....loved them, but staying close was enabling and life "contracting" for both of us. We are ready when we are ready....right? Hopefully your friend will find someone who connects with her struggle.

Aloha nui loa,

Thanks Karen,
I really thought I was the one to mentor her, because we both are alcoholic/addicts, and have the same mental health issues.  Her addiction and mental health issue has all but destroyed her marriage and hurt her kids.  My marriage ended in divorce because of mine, but I've made amends with my kids, and they've forgiven me.  When I was in Michigan in April and May, I realized I had been enabling her.  When I came home, I stopped enabling her, and she just suddenly blocked my numbers.  I wrote her a long letter, letting her know exactly how I was hurt and angry and why.  I also told her the truth about her behavior with me, and how she crossed my boundaries hundreds of times, and I felt about it.  Now that I have run into her at a meeting, I see her trying to work her way back into my life.  I was shocked when I saw her at church.  She had stopped attending my church, and was going back to a church she did not like at all.  I said hi, and sat in my usual spot.  She had a ride, a friend I didn't know, with her.  My sponsor and therapist both back my strict boundary with her.

Gotta run.

Hugs,
Trish

Hi Karen and Trish and any that follow,
Wow. Where is everyone? Just stopping by to say "hi" before going to evening church later. Almost done dog sitting. Looking forward to being home for a while.      Mag

Hey Karen, I have pets also so I know spraying can be a concern for them. Try and google to see if you have some local that uses organic sprays or pet-friendly sprays. Another trick is to use Borax powder bleach. Sprinkle it in you doorways, sliding door tracks, behind appliances and before you vacuum if you have carpet. It kills everything that walks through it except our pets. There are tons of examples on the box and you can pick it up in most grocery stores. I used it for years when I lived in S FL in an apartment.

Aloha Sue and thank you so much for the tip about getting rid of crawly pests. I find them everywhere......under the sink, in the bedroom, scittering across the counter, and even in the bathroom sink! I will try the Borax soon!

Hope you are having a great weekend.

Let me know how it goes! Sprinkle it under the sink and everything. Don't sweep it out, leave it in there!
