Hi everyone, I wi**** was wet in my part of the world. We are in a major drought. Went camping last weekend and it was 100 degrees at the lake. We are starting to cool off in the mornings. I have been crazy getting veggies in the freezer for winter. Colorado peaches are ready and they are wonderful. Have a great week everyone. Mona

Good mornin' ya'll.
We did so much camping as a kid and we did it with our kids. It is just so relaxing.
So, here's my schedule:
Sissy has open heart surgery on Sept. 3. She can go home on Sept 10. I will  arrive there on the 10th or 11th. I will stay until Oct 1st. On Oct 3rd, I fly to OR and come back on Oct 17th. Then Sis gets her hip replaced about Oct 22nd. I'll drive up there again to get her back and forth to rehab. Probably stay 3 weeks. It better not be snowy and icey!!
I was really hoping they could do it this month! Our grandson graduates from boot camp on Sept 28th. I don't wanna miss it. Unless Di is well enough to be on her own by Sept 25th. Then I'll drive straight to Great Lakes to attend our grandson's graduation from boot camp.
Some place in there I have to get my military ID renewed. It expires Oct 14th. I'm hoping they will let me get it done before I go to NY.
My fall is shaping up to be very busy.
Whether in OR or NY, my days will be pretty slow. So I should be able to get a lot of crochetting done.
Prayers for everyone who needs them. Hoorah for all those who earned them!!
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Good morning Jo and my OFF sistas!

Jo, it's certainly NOT wet here!  I wi**** was.  We do have a slight chance for some rain this evening.  I'm doing my rain dance today!

Carolyn, I have finished my first Special Olympics scarf.  It's a challenge crocheting with a squirmy toddler in my lap!  Benny will watch TV if I sit in there with him.  We share the recliner.  I try to crochet, but sometimes he's just too wiggly.  (I'm just waiting for him to discover he can unravel my crochet--oy vey!)  This morning we were watching Sesame Street together.  He's really starting to watch and understand what he sees on TV.  He gets so excited.  It's really darling to watch.

I did well with my vegetarian diet yesterday.  I had oatmeal for breakfast; cornbread, greens and peas for lunch; quinoa with black bean salsa and some sweet potatoes for my dinner.  I also had a banana and an apple during the day.  This morning started with cheerios, yogurt and strawberries.  So far so good.

(Of course, in the interest of being totally honest, I did eat some marshmallows yesterday afternoon.  I know, I shouldn't have, but they were talking to me!)

Still have my headache, although it comes and goes now.  I sure do miss my hot tub!  I think if I could just get in there and bubble awhile, my muscles would relax and this headache would go away for good.  Hell, I can't even take a long hot shower with Benny in the house.  He sticks his head in the shower curtain and very helpfully throws his toys into the tub to keep me company while I shower!  LOL!

Nothing much exciting going on here, so I'll close.  Thinking about you all and praying daily for your health and success.  Wondering where some of our regulars have gone?  We miss you and want you to come back!

Love you all!

 Vickie,
Last summer, my then almost two year old grandson discovered he could pull the yarn skein I was working with all the way around the main floor of my ex's house. He discovered he could take the yarn from the living room, through the dining room, through the kitchen, into the hallway, and end up back in the living room, with the yarn still connected to my project. He was so pleased with his accomplishment and I was hysterical laughing.  He loves yarn, and I had to make him a thumb sucking blanket to carry around, because all the baby blanket kept getting dirty with him dragging the everywhere. Took him to the yarn department at Hobby Lobby and he started pulling a skein down the aisle.

Hugs,
Trish

Vicki-

Tried a new version of 3 bean salad recipe the other day.  It was made with green beans, edamame and black beans.  It's pretty tasty and 3/4 cup is 7 grams of protein.

1 lb of fresh green beans cut into 1 inch pieces
1 15 oz can of black beans drained and rinsed
10 oz of frozen shelled edamame
3 T Canola Oil (I used olive oil)
3 T Rice Vinegar
1/4 cup apricot jam (Pollander All Fruit or Sugar Free Smuckers)
2 green onions (thinly sliced white and green portion)
1 tsp. peeled and grated fresh ginger.

Steam green beans and edamame together for about 4 minutes (I put in ice water bath to maintain crispness)
Whisk the Oil, Vinegar, Apricot Jam and grated ginger together.  Stir in all beans and green onions.  Chill for a few hours.

Tasty and crunchy.  I've made a meal out of this.

Hello Jo and OFF Family,
Well, we've been getting the occasional thunderstorm that accompanies heat waves.  So, I don't think we've had much of a drought here.

Carolyn, enjoy your travels as much as possible.  I sure hope you are able to make it to your grandson's boot camp graduation.  My brother was in the Navy.  His boot camp was down near Orlando.  Mom and Sissy flew down for it.  As for my Mom, she couldn't be bothered to attend my son's high school or college graduation, and it was here in Pennsylvania.

Well, I went to my AA meeting.  Then, I stopped at the little grocery store here in town to pick up a few things on sale.  Now, I am about to scoot out the door to do my volunteer work.  This evening, I have to get some laundry done.

I hope everyone has a really blessed day.

Hugs,
Trish

Hi Jo and my OFF family:

Getting on here late ... payday, or exchange day as I like to call it. Did a lot of running around, not as much as I wanted to, but got a lot of the essentials ... gas, food, etc. Have to run out once more to mail some stuff. Starting selling stuff on Yardsller on Facebook and sold three things. But I have to stop and get tape first to tape the boxes.

Cold is a little better. I swear by my Celestial Seasonings Wellness tea with echinacea. I take it when the cold first starts and it lessens the symptoms. Don't know why, but it works.

I gave it when I was at Walmart and used the electric cart ... I would rather work, but I just can't anymore.

Carolyn, you are so nice to go help out your sister. I don't think I'm going to have anyone come help me when I have my knee surgery. My brother needs to stay with my mom; I had thought about asking my SIL, but she and my No. 1 brother are going to be in Europe (yeah, I know, lucky ... my brother will have business and she's tagging along, visiting relatives in the Netherland and being a tourist). So I'll have to do what I usually do ... fend for myself. I'm used to that.

Well, I need to get off here and get out to my other errands. Have a good day.
