Thursday What's New With You?

Good afternoon everyone:

Not much doing today, have to do my 30 minutes aqua exercises on my own (aquafit classes with instructor only start again in September after Summer hiatus)...then tackle some closet clearing which I only do in little bits  every day because I hate doing it.

Last week took a carload of things to a friend who drops off at a church which holds a Fall "yard sale"  of leftover donated items after giving away most to the needy year-round.  Hopefully more to come from my "clearing and thinning out".

Vickie:  you haven't posted much about how you are doing with your headaches from Hell, and feeling cold...hope you are doing better.

Carla, drive safely if you have to rush off, hope you can stay home a bit longer.

When posting, I can't see the posts made by others, so can't answer you all individually, just a few from memory..

Hope you all have a better day than yesterday...

Oh, thanks for asking.  The headache was due to TOM, of course.  TOM is still with me (grrrr!), but the headache left a day or so ago.

I really appreciate the advice about thyroid testing.  I meant to write you back about that the other day, but Benny keeps me hopping!  Anyway, I have actually had my thyroid tested twice over the years because I always have all the classic symptoms of hyper-thyroidism, but the test always comes back normal.  I understand that there are 2 thyroid tests, one of them much more intensive than the other.  Perhaps I need to try again and insist on the more expensive test.  Lord knows, my feet are always freezing.  I have on my wool socks again today!

Some days I am so cold, I just feel ill, you know?

Wish I could come do the aquafit classes with you!  I love water aerobics.  Glad you are having a good summer.

Feeling cold is associated with HYPOthyroidism, not HYPER thyroid for which you say you show the classic symptoms...Don't know what test to recommend!  I felt literally cold and shivery and ill until my doctor prescribed the lowest tablet (Synthroid), then shifted me to higher dose way before I had my RnY...

Most people need their thyroid meds adjusted after WLS surgery, but my blood tests indicate no change in dose..After the cold freezies which come from active weight loss while in the honeymoon period of RnY, with my hypothyroid meds remaining the same, have not felt cold since...so am stumped as to what to recommend to you...Do you have low blood pressure ?( not necessarily related to WLS, as people have low blood pressure for other reasons).

Oh, I mis-spoke.  I did mean hypothyroidism.  I will talk to my doctor about it the next time I go.  But like I said, I've already been tested twice.

It's so hot here.  If I keep the house comfortable for me, the rest of the family complains it's too hot.  If I turn the AC down for them, I shiver and shake.  I just put on more clothes!  They all think I'm crazy.

Right now my fingers are so cold I can hardly type!  The heat from the laptop feels so good.  Maybe I'll make a cup of hot tea--just to hold it.

Hi Trish and my OFF family:

For some reason, I got up before 7 a.m. and couldn't get back to sleep. But I just got on the board now. I was busy doing laundry ... had to schlep everything over to the laundry facility; fortunately, all the washers/dryers I used worked today. So that chore is done for another couple weeks.

I have been staying inside with the blinds closed and the a/c on. It's 96 degrees and supposed to hit 100. So I was glad I got laundry done early. I'm watching the Olympics ... and some baseball, but no White Sox baseball unfortunately.

Poor Juliette, my cat, had runny eyes ... she is obviously allergic to something. My vet had told me I could give her chlortrimetron, a half tablet. So I did. The eye is clear now and she's not quite as itchy. So it worked. I got it in her by using the Greenies Pill Pockets. Ah, mommy's tricky!

Trish, I'm having that back procedure you had, the ablation on the nerves, tomorrow. I hope it works and I have less pain. So I'll have the rest of the day off, too.

Carla, hope you get to Denver in time to see your friend. That's tough. I remember when my friend Gloria was dying and I knew I couldn't get to see her one last time when she took a turn for the worse. But I did get to see her two weeks before she died, and it was a good day. I'll remember that visit fondly for the rest of my life.

Connie, hang in there. Hope you can feel better. We are here for you. Good to see you posting everyday.

Everyone else, have a good day.

Good evening OFF family, just bringing up the rear.

Had a terrible night with tummy pain (damn adhesion's) I'll work through it but what a pain to live with that is for sure. Tried to sleep but got up and watched the Olympics and went to be at 0330. Tossed and turned and I just hate that...thinking I could be doing laundry or something. Got up at 0630 and right now I'm tired and ready for bed! LOL
Gotta work til 11pm then go home and go right to bed as I'm working day shift tomorrow. Nothing like confusing your body right?

Got the weekend off, have my niece's wedding on Saturday and it should be fun. Got a brand new dressy dress at a high end resale store for 23.00 and it had the original price tag on it for 119.00 from Coldwater Creek. I scored! Also brought a purple dress looked brand new from Coldwater Creek for 12.00, I can wear that one to church.

Hugs and prayers for all in need. Debbie

Oh, I used to love Coldwater Creek clothes when I was working.  Of course, I'm too tall for any of their pants, but I loved their skirts and dresses!

Well second day of 2 week pre op diet!! I'm so flipping hungry. At this time 12 more days seem like a year. Boy, there are a lot of food commercials. Got my new Health Master today and in 8 minutes I had a hot cup of veggie soup, it was so good. 1 carrot, 2 stalks of celery, 2 tomatoes, small red onion, 1 seeded sweet pepper, a small red potato and 3 cups chicken stock.
1 cup 70 calories. Going to try a green smoothie in the morning. Had a doctors appt. today. I fell in May and twisted my ankle and it still hurts. The x-ray showed I chipped my ankle and there are calcium deposits, so I have been referred to a ortho specialist. Well need to go start my families dinner. Hope the rest of you day is great.

Debbie

Hang in there, Debbie.  I'll bet the hungries disappear tomorrow.  Did you get your ketostix yet?  Turning that stick purple sure did help me stick to the diet.  The darker purple it turned, the more fat I knew I was burning.

Can't somebody else cook supper?  Or better yet, send them all out to eat so you don't have to cook it/smell it/be tempted by it?

Good luck!  Tomorrow will be a better day for sure.
