Wacky Wednesday What's Up?

Hi Trish and my OFF family:

Getting on here late ... I was up early for some reason. I slept restlessly last night. Was watching the Olympics in bed (I had recorded it) but I kept falling asleep, waking up, rewinding, watching a little, nodding off, etc. Then I got up at 8 (I thought it said 10). So I'm awake and made a pot of coffee and had breakfast and finished watching the Olympics.

I got an email from Walgreens about a prescription ... it was for antibiotics ... so I guess that means I must have a UTI as I suspected. I saw blood in my urine and since I haven't had a period in two years, I figured something else was going on. And I was right. Haven't heard from my doc, though, just the prescription. Went and picked that up, came home and put my jammies back on. And here I am. I had a headache earlier, but that seems to be gone. But now I'm really sleepy.

I always feel this is my family ... that's why I address you as such.

Vickie, my nephew and his wife don't have cable ... they only get it during football season. I don't know what they will do now that Alexander is up to watching TV (he's nearly 2). I know Christopher was really into Star Wars as a toddler ... he had all the little toys. And Hot Wheels. Of course, now he is still into comic books, so he is sure to get my grandnephews (and his cousins) Ben and Sam all the Spiderman and Batman things (and Star Wars, too).

Connie, hope you start feeling better. I know it can be a process ... if you ever need to talk or cry, I'm here for the next three days. Hang in there.

Trish, I could use someone to Swiffer and sweep and vacuum for me. Just vacuuming for a couple of minutes does me in.

Well, have a good day. Volleyball game calls.

I am not having such a good day. My friend in Denver who has stage 4 bone cancer resulting from breast cancer 18 years ago is not doing well. I just spent 6 weeks with her, She fell in the bathroom this morning and doesnt remember it got taken to the emergency room and is in ICU. We are supposed to have a surprise 56 birthday party for her on the 18th. I am leaving for Denver sooner than later. I have hernia surgery scheduled for the 20th.
I think Ill start pack up now.
I did get my car serviced yesterday morning so I am good to go!!!!!
I have been on kid patrol the past few days So I am joining Vickie in Kid watch again and it has been tough cause daddy isnt giving up his drugs.....vertually giving up his family. Sad.
I went back to basics and have lost 10 pounds of the 20 pounds I have gained. I am half way there!!!!! I am hoping to get the other 10 off by the 20th. maybe it will happen.....
Ive also been beading again to keep my mind off food. It has been helping.....
Thoughts out to everyone. Carla

Even though I have my little one here and my beading all over the kitchen table and my little one beading and getting the beads all over my kitchen floor (crunch crunch)!!!!! and I dont even care..... Life goes on. I do have the duffle bag out but no clothes are in it as of yet..... I need to go out and clean out the the car again and damp clean the seats of the car. Ill go and do that tonight when the sun goes down and it isnt so hot out.

Good evening everyone,
I had my endoscope this morning and all went great. No major problems that will interfere with my having sleeve surgery. My body tends to hold on to drugs so the day has been spent sleeping off and on and I am just now feeling able to type, lol. As my daughter was driving me home this morning my phone rang and it was my surgeons medical assistant calling me to tell me my doctor is leaving barix the end of this monh and probably won't be able to do my surgery  and that I will have to switch to Dr. Marymor who I have never met. I have read a lot of posts about him and most seem to say he is an excellent doctor so I guess it will work out. I knew things were going to smoothly, lol. So, my journey has a little hiccup but I know i will work out the way it is suppose to!!
Hope everyone had a good day!

 Diane,
Dr. Marymor did my surgery on August 28th, six years ago.  I can tell you personally, you will not be disappointed.  He gives you his cell phone number the day he discharges you, and I did need it about six months out, because I developed an ulcer.  He made sure to have me checked for problems with the surgery before referring me to a gastro doc.

Also, his practice has a Facebook page, and he lurks on the PA board.  If I post anything about me being in the hospital, like in June when I was there for two weeks, he called my apartment and left me a message.  I called him back and we talked for a little while.  He has done that so many times.  He also checks out when my grandchildren are born, and asks me about them.

Be sure to post your surgery date, and I'll get up there to visit you.  I live right in Bristol, and have three docs in the building right behind Barix, so I'm up there all the time.

Tons of hugs,
Trish

Hi again Diane,
At every appointment with Dr. Marymor, the nutritionist will come in and talk to you either before or after he sees you.  At your preadmission testing, they'll do blood, I believe a chest x-ray, a visit from the nutritionist, where you will receive your Barix Bible, a huge binder with guidance on your post-op diet and recipes for protein shakes.  I recommend the Anywhey powder they sell there.  It's flavorless, and can be blended with anything.  You'll see a regular doctor who will listen to your lungs, check your heart, the usual stuff a doc does.  You'll also meet with a respiratory therapist, who will teach you to use the breathing thing with the little ball, and she'll tell you to start using it several times a day till you get to the hospital and to pack it for the hospital.  You'll also get a sponge with some sort of cleansing stuff with instructions to scrub your belly with it all over to be sure it is clean for the surgery.

If you have a co-pay for doctors, other than your primary, you'll have to pay that for the preadmission testing.

I know that from the day I met Dr. Marymor and started the process, to the day I got the word that I was clear for surgery, it was six weeks.  During that time, I had to get my hematologist, cardiologist and gastroenterologist to send them clearances.  I had seen all three prior to meeting with Dr. Marymor recent enough that I didn't have to go back to them.  I also had to get the sleep study, and learned I needed a C-Pap, which if you have one, you'll need it for preadmission testing.  They'll want to see that you are using it, and they'll tell you to pack it for the hospital.

Feel free to ask any questions you want.

Hugs,
Trish

Wow thanks again for the info!! I had the sleep study and do not have sleep apnea!! I also had the psyche eval and had the endoscope today. Last thing I need to do is have the cardiac clearance this coming Monday and that will take care of my requirements set by Dr Medvetz. Hopefully I will get to meet Dr Marymor sooner rather than later so I can move forward!!!!
Thanks so much for the support!!!
