Wacky Wednesday What's Up?

 Good Morning Family,
I call you family, because some days, you are the only people who know me well that I communicate with.  I go to meetings, but only share my deepest secrets with my sponsor.

Today, I'm getting ready to go to my morning meeting.  Then, I'm heading to the bank to get some bank checks for birthday presents for my grandson and daughter.  My daughter turned 36 a week ago, and today is my grandson's 3rd birthday.  I also need cash for groceries and gas. Then this afternoon, I see my therapist and pick up some yarn I ordered for the blanket I am making Franklin.

Yesterday, I was able to sweep and Swiffer mop my living room floor.  Today, I'd like to get the kitchen floor done.  Not sure when.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hugs,
Trish

Good morning Trish and my OFF sistas!

Trish, yes, I agree--we are a family.  I share things here that I do not share elsewhere.  Maybe it's the anonimity, maybe it's the shared experience of WLS, maybe it's just this remarkable group of women--I don't know.  All I know is I come here daily for friendship, love, comfort, support.  I think that's the definition of a family, don't you?

This morning finds me feeling somewhat better, although the TOM from hell shows no signs of waning yet.  In fact, I have to go to the store this morning for more TOM supplies.  Had to go to the store YESTERDAY morning for more TOM supplies, too!  This is ridiculous.  Really.

My precious little grandson has finally discovered TV this month.  I took a subscription to Netflix and they have so many children's shows.  The one he has fixated on is Curious George.  OMGoodness!  I hear "George?", "George?" all day long!  LOL!  My daughter is already acting sick of it, but I tell her it is SO much easier to watch George all day than Rainbow Brite or (shudder!) Strawberry Shortcake!

So, Christie has a date tonight.  Yeah, you heard me.  A date.  Lord above, that's all we need is another man thrown into the mix right now.  He's a 30 year old stockboy at Hobby Lobby.  Okay, I know I'm quick to judge, but what part of "professional, 401K, ambition, medical insurance" does my daughter not understand?  I tell myself it's just one date, not a lifetime commitment, but I can't help but be concerned about her.  She hooks up with these guys, and it always ends in disaster.  Is it so wrong of me to want her to find a nice man who has the ability to provide for her and Benny?

Well, lots to do this morning and I need to take a shower and get going.  Trish, please come and swiffer my floors when you finish yours, okay? LOL!

Love you all!

 Hi Vickie:
Since November, my daughter has had a very strict rule about television viewing with the kids, because if left alone, my grandson would sit in front of the TV all day long, in a dirty diaper, sucking his thumb.  So, when I was babysitting there was zero television.  Somedays, my daughter would give the kids permission to watch a DVD with me, and we loved that.  I would fold laundry, or crochet, while sitting with them.  I'd go in the kitchen and get appropriate snacks, but Lincoln was glued to his seat right in front of the TV.

What we did do was go outside a lot and play soccer, or go in their huge toyroom and color, or play with trains, which he is addicted to.  Isabel loves to do crafts, so I always brought supplies, or we would go to Hobby Lobby and pick out stuff to do.  I can't wait till she is old enough to crochet, and I can teach her.

Curious George, is one of my grandchildren's favorites.  Also, there is one on PBS Kids I can't think of the name.  You can go to their website and see clips of the shows there, as well as when Benny is old enough he can play games there.

The show on PBS Kids is called Caillou.  See if they have that on Netflix, and maybe Benny would like it.

Trish--

Oh, yes, we know Caillou.  We watch it, too, sometimes.  And a couple of others, but he always asks for "GEORGE!"  LOL!

I don't leave the TV on all day either.  Sometimes "George" is on, and sometimes he's not!  I tell Benny, "George is gone right now."  I don't believe in using the TV as a substitute for play time, but sometimes it sure is nice to get a half hour to yourself!

I definitely know what you mean.  I basically had the kids from 7:30 till 5:00 the days I was in Michigan.  Sometimes, they played outside when I would sit at the dining room table watching through the bay window, but doing a Bible study, or playing on my laptop for a little while, but always keeping my eye on them, because they don't have a fence, and their yard is huge back there.  I mean, they could put a huge built in pool and still have room for a playset.

While I was out there, I did spend a few evenings at an AA meeting.

Hugs,
Trish

Good mornin ya'll.
Trish, I'm glad you are getting out and about. Even if it is to spend money! And of course, your very important meetings.
Well, this morning has turned into night very fast. Ugly black clouds and heavy rain. Which is OK since I don't have anywhere to go. When we hear thunder we are never sure if it is the weather or the Marines target practicing until we see the rain.
My hummingbirds are still fighting. I'm not sure if one thinks he/she owns both feeders, or if they just like to fight! But it is fun to watch them.
My 17 year old Oregon grandson is selling Amway. He started about a month ago. I have been trying some of their products to see what I like. I know he has a target amount to reach every month. So I am spreading my purchases over several months to help him. I remember Mom using Amway products years ago when an uncle was selling them. I'm only ordering things I would usually use anyway. And they come in the mail!
Back in May when this same grandson finished his Junior year at Camden Military Academy, I mailed his dress uniform and sword home. ( sorry Miss Metz for the run on sentence). The sword didn't make it! It was all in the same box. Boxed and mailed through a Postal Annex place. We have been working to get this claim done since then. I think we may be close to getting the $400 back so our daughter can replace the sword for him. He worked hard to earn it and was quite upset that it got 'lost'! It was the USPS that lost it, NOT the Postal Annex! It was taken right out of the box, leaving the uniform!
Better get goin'. Our son will be here soon for his salad and a nap.
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Well, geez, if you can't trust in the integrity of the USPS, who can you trust? I sure hope your grandson can be fairly compensated!

Vickie, didn't mean to ignore you. It takes me so long to get a post done usually 2 or 3 have posted while I am composing!
I agree this is just like a family. Sometimes even more so than my actual family. I sure vent more here. My DH has no idea how lucky he is!!
I was sooooo happy when I stopped having that monthly visitor! Our DIL just had a hysterectomy and is sooo thrilled.
I used to read Curious George to these NC grandsons when they would come visit. I still have the HUGE book that has a bazillion stories in it. They would climb in my lap and I would have to read the entire durn book. They would take turns choosing which story to read, but we always wound up doing the whole book! To he** with dust bunnies and dirty dishes.
I could rock a baby or read stories an entire day! Still could if I had some little ones around.

Good morning Trish and everyone.....

Trish....glad you are able to get out today. The floor will keep. Enjoy some time doing something you enjoy!

Carolyn....so glad your grandson will be getting his sword again. I am sure that will mean so much to him. It is great that you can help with the Amway. They are good products.

Vickie...those children's shows can be a Godsend!! I was so glad when Gracie got into watching them. Not all day but the few hours she did was so helpful to me. She also was on PBS Kids on the computer. She played learning games and loved it!!

Yes this is family here!! I feel comfort in just knowing  everyone is here even when I am not. We are here to help each other. We don't judge and we don't have all the drama. I love everyone of you. I would be lost without you!!!

I am feeling a little more down today. I am going to get out there and get some errands done that I need to do. I spent most of two weeks in bed. Time to get on with my life now!
Wish me luck!!

Wishing you all a wonderful day. Prayers for those in need and a few extra as well.

Love and many hugs to all....connie d
