Such a great post. I gave up Alcohol about 15 years ago and for the most part have never wanted a drink again. Once in a while, like you said I see a new drink on the market and I think I wonder what that takes like. Then I think NO, I have been so thankful that I have remained sober. I know my life would have been very different if I had not. Thank God. Now I hope to have WLS in a few months I will need all of my strength get through another of my life's obstacles.
Debra,
I gave up alcohol and drugs, took 10 attempts and finally cigarettes 9+ years ago, a couple of other addictions and last was having WLS to help address my food addiction, but that is one that even to this day is tough. WLS gives us a tool, but like any other tool, if it is not used, it does not work to our benefit, so the sooner we work on the head issues surrounding our food addiction, the better likelihood of succeeding once we get to the maintenance phase of this new life, we can be. . . Since you are already practicing and preparing for your new lifestyle, I think you will do wonderfully!!!
