Activities non food related

My VSG is scheduled for tomorrow and I've been some thinking about options for socialization that don't center around food.  I never realized how everything I do revolves around food.  "Lets go to dinner for lunch, dinner, drinks, desert".  Anyone have any suggestions for re-orchestrating my social life?  As always, Thanks

Start by getting a walking partner.  From there, join a gym, or an exercise class.  My church has Zumba classes twice a week.  Join, or start, a knitting social.  I go to one once a month.  If you attend church, start attending a Bible study.  I do all of these things, minus the Zumba.  That's only list of things to do.

Hope this helps.

Hugs,
Trish

Hi Trish,
Thanks for the suggestions.  I was thinking about a Tai Chi class.  It's something  I always wanted to do but have never done.   I appreciate your ideas.

I know it is really hard to get around the "FOOD" activities as it just seems to be the norm these days!!

Walking, swimming, join a gym, spend time at the library. Volunteering is good. Visit at nursing homes.

Always remember "nothing tastes as good as thin feels"!! I always keep protein bars in my purse. When going out to eat order wisely. I always ask for a to go box when they serve my meal and immediately put the extra portions in it. If a dinner roll or bread stick is served I ask not to get one or give it to someone else right away.

I hope you find other things to do. It isn't always easy!

Thanks Connie,
Your tips are very valuable.  I've been giving thought to joining a volunteer activity so we are on the same page with that.  I feeling pretty good a few days out so I'm sure things will come together.

Congrats on your VSG.  On to your new life. Take it slow and easy. Trish and Connie gave you great ideas. For me staying away from breads are key. The fewer carbs I take in the less I want to eat unhealthy choices. Keep your protein and water (good fluid) intake up. That helps me also. Hope this helps. Let us know how your journey is going.    Mag

Hi Mag,
Thanks for your support.  I'm working on building up to my protein and water goals.  I didn't know I could sip so small and slowly I've been a big carb lover in the past so that will something to factor in in the future.  Take care and thanks again.
