Sunday Sunrise- How are YOU?

Well, here I am at 5:30 am…I finally gave up and got out of bed. Laid there for four hours…awake. The throbbing in my bones keep me awake..tonight it is the entire left side of my body…pulsing. The Arimidex that I must take for my cancer causes this along with other fun side effects.  I am already six months done with this nasty medication…only four and a half years to go! It’s already gotten light outside and it looks like I’m going to waste my Sunday sleeping all afternoon, IF I ever do fall asleep.

I cannot focus on a book, cannot sit or stand still for any period so I play a little bit of gin rummy and move around a lot.  Oreo wants to play “WHEEE!”- spinning him on the kitchen floor. He LOVES that but I am always cautious…I don’t want to set his little cat brain spinning inside his skull. But he continues to drop himself heavily on the kitchen floor and pat at my feet until I give him a little spin.

Poor SillyRose hides a lot.  She is so quiet and sweet natured and just has not gotten used to Oreo’s exuberant nature. He is constantly pouncing on her from behind, startling the heck out of her. She boxes him hard but she has no front claws so little damage is done though JB and I use the spray bottle of water to discipline him to leave poor SillyRose alone! That never lasts long because he is then usually rearranging my desk or the shoes or tearing up and down the stairs. I didn’t bring my robe down or I’d go sit outside on the porch.  I’m jotting down notes…shhh…don’t tell JB because I took a year off to get better but that doesn't stop my MIND.  Several weeks ago, several other BPW members and I attended a four day Provincial Conference and National Convention to debate and vote on resolutions that go to the govt to be acted upon.  There, I met an amazing lady, Jeanette Arsenault, a fabulous Canadian  singer/songwriter.  She has sung for our Canadian Olympic athletes in Salt Lake City in 2002 and in Athens, Greece in 2004.  An amazing singer and performer, Jeanette caught my eye immediately.  Between meetings, I managed to speak with her and invited her to come and perform next summer in Niagara-on-the-Lake and be a major singer for my BPW Niagara Falls Clubs big event called EMPOWERED WOMEN. Her newest song is WOMEN OF THE WORLD and it is POWERFUL!These two titles were the main theme of the convention.  I already have several other noted female performers, motivational speakers and a Zumba class as well as a top official lady from BPW CANADA to speak about who and what we are as  Business & Professional Women. I am inviting the ladies of the local Native Centre to do the Opening Ceremony with drumming and song as well as to close the day with a native prayer and song about safe journeys to all directions.   I will also be inviting all women’s groups including those from the Multi-Cultural Centre, federations, service clubs and any woman who want to spend an afternoon in the park with wine and lawnchairs, craft tables and other fun things to do.  Luncheon ( breast of capon on a mini croissant, orange-almondine salad, beverages and homemade specialty cupcakes from my “almost daughter-in-law, Kathy" who is a professional pastry chef) will be included in the ticket as well as door prizes and lots of laughs.  We expect many BPW women to come from out of town so I’m speaking with the close-by hotel to ask for a discount rate for the ladies who will stay overnight so they can enjoy the local wineries and, of course, Niagara Falls as well the next day. I already have the use of a huge but private park at a phenomenal price!  Well, my body is restless again, I have to move....maybe even try to sleep in a while….if only! Take good care to be well-hydrated in this awful heat!  Nancy B

Nancy, you never fail to inspire me  -  what a go-getter you are!
The BPW conference (I have forgotten what BPW stands for) that you attended sounds wonderful.  As a sociology teacher, I am very interested in issues that impact women worldwide, and the conference addressed many related issues.  Just imagine what the world would be like if all women were empowered and were given the right to receive an education!
Take care of yourself in this heat that we in Ontario are not so used to.

 Hello All,
I have two grandbabies here: the 14 year old boy who is almost 6 ft tall and the 4 year old granddaughter who is my shadow.  The middle child is spending the weekend doing a camping thing with his father.  Yesterday, we had to take the car in for an oil change and they checked the battery and said it was on its last leg.  So we got the battery too.  While we waited, we all walked around the mall and had a little lunch at the food court.   The car was finished just in time for the movies, so we drove down the street and granddad and the boy went to see the new spider man in 3 D and the girl and I went to see Brave.  My movie critics and and I went to see Spiderman last week so I was anxious to see if my husband loved it as much as I and he did.  We talked a little about it but when we take the kids home today, we will get into the nuts and bolts.   We are really liking the way Marvel comics are being made these days.
But, right before we went into the movie theater, we had massive winds and rain and I only had one umbrella, so the boy, holding granddad's hand and pulling him along, ran through the rain to the theater, and the girl and I shared the one little umbrella.  It has been so dry and hot here that the rain washed dirt, allergens, and pollution down the sides of the white theater building.   When the movie ended, the girl and I ran back to the car and listened to the rain on the hood of our car and she told me about her new best friend forever.   Then the guys came.
So, the rain cooled us off and everything perked up around the house.  I keep a little wading pool with fresh water for the rabbits, squirrels, and birds, so yesterday's rain gave me a day off from watering.

Today I will take the kids home and granddad and I are going to go visit my friend from high school.  I cannot believe how good that I am feeling.  The antibiotics have done wonders in kicking the pneumonia.  I am going to get the little heplock thing out tomorrow after the chest xray and other than a few days of steroids and oral antibiotics, I should be good to go.

Hope your day goes well and your week even better.

Good mornin' ya'll.

Nancy, I am so sorry to hear of your pain. There are so many things that affect us after the chemo and radiation. I hope you get some relief.

Yesterday, my DIL and I made 'pouches', for her to give to her co-workers when school resumes. They are about 8" X 6", colorful fabric with a waterproof lining and a flap that comes over the front and is secured with velcro. Oh, the bottom is squared off so it stands up. She did the cutting and pinning, I did the sewing. I just have velcro to put on a few more. She is also making each one a small coaster made from a tile (she saw this on "The Chew"). She makes something for each of them at the beginning of the school year.

Our daughter had a BBQ with friends over again yesterday (she provides the place, they supply most of the food.) They have a pool at the condo, so the kids have friends over, too. When she was living with her future EX, they never 'entertained'. He hated other people in 'his' house. If someone did come over he would get drunk and act like an a**. BTW, the appraisal on their house came back at exactly what they owe! A $60,000 loss. Anyway, now there will be a fight over who buys the other out. She had to borrow more money this week. It hurts her so bad to have to do that! The lawyer fees are eating her alive!

So, just some sewing and crochetting today! Weather is still to hot to be outside. I realized this morning that our last NC grandson will be gone on August 13th, off to college. No more daily breakfasts and naps in the recliner.

Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Good morning Nancy & all. Nancy, glad to hear you are getting some relief. On Thursday my Doc took me off chemo. He said there were no changes in my ct & right now the side effects just weren't worth it. This is not a bad thing as the tumors have shrunk in the past 9 months. I have my summer back!!!! I have another ct in 3 months. I feel great right now. I think I surprised him as I still have a great attitude. I may outlive them all.
I had my grandkids for a while already. So much fun. I have also been working in my garden & flowers. Except for still  being bald, I am almost "normal" Hope you all have a wonderful week!!!! Nan
