Eileen,

I'm with Judy on forcing the cat to take her pill.  I have a Russian Blue and she has bald spots that are unexplainable…no felas, no skin irritation.  So, when I took her to the vet, he diagnosed her as being mentally ill.  I rescued her from an abusive home and she was greatly neglected.  She hides food and sometimes will overdrink water so that she gets sick.  So, we had to put her on prozac.  Every day, it is a chore to get the pills down her.  I wrap her up in  a towel so that she cannot scratch me.   And, I have the pill already on the end of a straw attached with vaseline…yep that works.   And, I have some water to give her.  Then, I hold her on her back with the towel holding her tight…I hold the straw with the pill up to her mouth and when she opens, and she will, I put the straw in as far as I can touch her tongue and she swallows.  I pull out the straw and and quickly drop water in her mouth just in case.

She is getting a little better but will never be like my Ginger Kitty who will just open her mouth and let me drop the pill in.  Ginger does have allergies so she gets allergy pills every single day and steroids during a flare up.   Whatever you do, don't give your cat benadryl.  I did and she got so sick.  Apparently, bendryl makes them foam.  It doesn't hurt them but they get all salviary like.

Before Ginger went on her allergy meds, I tried the benadryl so that she could have some relief.   I did find that creams do help too.  Steroid creams are good and if she licks it off, it's steroids.

Jeannie, I actually used the Greenies pill pockets and that works. My vet says Chloritrimetron (sp?) is OK for allergies, a half pill.

Aloha Eileen.....thank you for your note. Feeling sick is the pits! I forget to be thankful when I'm feeling good, so maybe this is a kick in the buh-tocks to not take my health for granted.

I can't even imagine 105 degrees!! I do remember being in Las Vegas years ago when it was that temp. and I couldn't breathe. Don't know how people without A/C ksurvive.

Juliette is showing signs of what my big Nicki had for awhile. Big bare spots on his body that he was always licking. I didn't take him to the vet because he was acting normal otherwise, and for some reason he began growing hair back and today is full-figured fluffy love bug. Ha. You might google "scratching and balding spots on cats" or something like that and get some home remedies.

Good luck.....

Aloha nui loa,

Karen

I know what she has ... it's miliary dermatitis. She has had this on and off for awhile, but now it's getting worse and she will not take her pill. The vet gave me prednisone to give her, andfor awhile I got it in her by putting it on turkey, but now she won't take it that way. And she claws the hell out of me when I try to pill her. I have now been putting it in her water. she now is becoming reclusive. I miss my active girl.

ALOHA Karen!!!

I have tried off and on all morning but the site was down it told me...glad that you got to post though!!! Sorry that you are not feeling well!!! Hope its NOT an ulcer!!!

Well we had a heck of a storm come through last night about 5 pm!! Blew trees over and knocked power lines down and some lost power and some still no power!! Lucky us we are ok!! Just a few small branches down is all. Looks like another one might be headed our way soon though unless it breaks up on the way.

One of my tenants stopped over a little bit ago and told me she was doing her laundry and noticed that someone used the front loader with powder soap. OMG no way!!! So over there I went...yup powder soap all over the floor and inside and what a mess!!! Now that machine is down due to high suds!!! That machine has in bold red letters LIQUID SOAP 1/4 CUP ONLY now what part of that do these people not see??? Do we ever get to rest around here? Guess not!!!

Well not much else happening around here so best get going to see how to get that maching cleaned out...might try to do a load of sheets and see if that will get it suds out some...

Thoughts and Prayers for all that need them!!!

HUGS

Aloha Judy......Wow, you are so busy, and always the unexpected happens doesn't it!! Our resident manager here is a good friend, and he goes through some outrageous dramas with some of the tenants and owners. He has come to my rescue more than once, and he got a very hefty tip at Christmas! My dishwasher flooded my living room, kitchen and damaged furniture, cabinets, etc. He helped me get things dried out, and then to go through the whole insurance nightmare, and eventually I ended up with a beautiful new kitchen. Sometimes I think he just hides because there just never seems to be a day without someone needing him. You two are so brave to take this on. At least you have your Honey to share it with. My manager works alone.

Storms....OMG...so many storms in the news. It hasn't rained here in months and we are worried now about wildfires in the hills again. They are straw white and dry as cereal. Last year we almost had to evacuate when the fire raced down the West Maui Mountains and only had to jump across the street to get to our row of condominiums. Very scary.

Hope you have a good rest of the day........and that you are able to stay calm and focus on the love in your life, the friends, the health and the happiness.....I will try too!!

Aloha nui loa,

Karen

Good evening, ya'll.
Karen, so glad to see you again. I hope the doctor can get your problems under control. Unwanted weight loss is not good.
I tried to get on here this AM and like many others and got an error message. I gave up after a few tries.
Made brandied apple rings and applesauce today. Gonna wait til tomorrow to finish. That will be Apple Maple Jam. Monday I'll pack a bunch up to send to our daughter.
Our daughter's soon to be ex keeps saying he has quit drinking, but starts in again. He got antibuse, but has to stop drinking for 2 days before he can take it. He keeps calling her saying "this is my last day of drinking". Then he drinks the next day and he calls her drunk. She tells him she doesn't care if he drinks or not, she doesn't need a daily report. The kids are old enough to stay or leave if he is being a jerk or not!
Our son and DIL and grandson got back from their cruise a couple of hours ago. They are at WM getting groceries. The grandson is here napping. The dogs were so happy to see them!
Everyone have a fantabulous day! What's left of it!

Aloha grammylew.......That is such a great name for you as you are a fabulous grandmother!! All that you do just amazes me. Where do you get the energy. My energy for the past few days has been low, low, and I couldn't even imagine cooking or driving or even making a sandwich!!

You make me think of my mom who was a tremendous cook, baker and fresh food grower. I grew up on a farm in Oregon, and we grew everything......beans, strawberries, raspberries, chicken, cows, carrots, celery, lettuce, corn....all the good stuff. Oh, and my dad was a salmon fisherman and brought home fresh salmon. Mom would make that into roasts, steaks, pickled, smoked, canned, etc.
I came to hate salmon as a kid!! Today it is one of my favorite foods, and I finally realize what treats we had. Always fresh pies, salads, even whole wheat pasta!

I always love reading your posts because you share special stories of your family that are so very touching.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday week!!

Aloha nui loa,

Karen

Good evening Friends!  I haven't posted in a couple of days but I do swing by to read the posts!  My first weeks assignments are turned in and now I need to start on next weeks.  I need to get a little ahead before I have my surgery.  I thought these three classes would be easier than last session but no such luck!

Karen, I hope you feel better soon.  Eileen, maybe try Judy's towel idea.  Grammylew, You're amazing!  I don't know how you get so much done.

Everyone have a great evening...
Step by step, inch by inch...
Judy
