Summer Sunday Hello
I have a busy agenda today. Problem is, I finally got to sleep in my bed, and ended up getting up at 6:00. Hopefully, I'll be awake enough to get to church later this morning.
Because I am having surgery tomorrow, I had to go off my Celebrex, which helps me tremendously with my aches and pains, especially my arthritis. As a result, I am moving slower and in a good amount of pain.
First, this morning is worship. After worship, we are having a congregational luncheon and then our annual business meeting.
When I get home, I am hoping to get down to the park by the river. It's my town's annual Celtic Heritage Festival. We have four cultural festivals in the Summer. Celtic, Puerto Rican, African American and Italian. I only go to the Celtic and Italian because the other two are in the hottest months of the year. Being Irish, I enjoy the Celtic Festival. I like the Italian Festival because of the food.
Because the Phillies got rained out on Friday, they are having two games today. I'll get to see the evening game after I get home from the festival.
I hope everyone has a very blessed day today.
Hugs,
Trish

Trish, I hope you make it through the day with not too much pain.
My grandson who was on his way home from visiting a friend in VT, spent the night in the Phoenix airport last night. Flight out of Columbus three hours delayed so missed his connection. Was hoping to get on the last flight out last night but didn't make that one either. Not sure when he can get out today. Our daughter is in San Fran on business and it gets her all stressed when this happens and she isn't home! Not that there is anything she could have done if she was home. He is an MVP on Alaska Aitlines, but they don't partner with US Airways so that doesn't mean squat to them.
What is it with husbands? We are retired, we have all the time in the world to do whatever we want. Yesterday we were talking about the Farmer's Market and maybe we should hit it this weekend or next. And maybe I should do some peach jam this time, since I made strawberry last time. And a couple of things I wanna get at WM but nothing critical. He gets up WAY before me (like 4 AM, I get up at 6 or 6:30). So before I even get my tea and sit down, he wants to know what time I wanna leave, are we gonna need more canning jars, how much jam am I gonna make and should we hit WM before the Farmer's Market or after? Lordy, you can't say you are thinking of doing something to this man or he thinks it is set in stone! And don't get me started on when he says maybe we should do something and I neither agree or disagree and the next thing I know he is telling one of the kids 'Your Mother and I think we should.....' Huh!?
Oh well. This all gets set aside. I am starting the day in a good mood, expecting it will be fantastic, so I know it will be.
Everyone have a fantabulous day!
I meant to post something to you concerning your grandson, his new wife, and the coming great-grandchild. I just failed to do it before now.
My ex and I were kids when we got married. I was 18, pregnant and right out of high school. He was still a senior in high school, who was permitted to leave in January of his senior year and then the high school mailed his diploma in June.
He went right into the Army a few weeks after we got married. His first duty station was the Defense Language Institute on Monterey, California. We both flew out there, from Pennsylvania, in May of 1976. Colleen was born in July, a month after hubby turned 18.
We had a rough marriage, because of my mental health issues which were not addressed for 14 years.
Right after his four years in the Army, we moved back home with two kids, and he started college, which I also did a little slower than he did. We were dirt poor, but his Mom helped us out, using an inheritance she got from my father-in-law. Hubby graduated from college in 1984. I finished in 1986. By then, baby number 3 was born.
He stayed with me for 25 years, and by then, I was financially self-sufficient, earning as much as he did.
After the divorce, I went on to earn a Masters in Social Work. Two of my kids have finished grad school, and are successful in their careers. My third kid has been struggling since he finished high school. First it was a bad heroin addiction. Now, he did not finish his degree, and lives in an area where the job market is rough. He's intelligent, but does not make wise choices.
While your grandson and his wife will probably struggle starting out, I am confident that they will manage well in the end. From what you shared about all your kids and grandkids, I can tell they have good role models for hard work, and a good marriage.
Hugs,
Trish

Morning OFF family!!!
Well I drank a ton of water yesterday and also ate alot of watermelon and my leg is now feeling better!!! Do you think it could have been me being dehydrated?? I am thinking it was. Leg looks better today and so far feels better but going through the day will tell for sure. All I know is I do not have money to go to a dr or hospital right now.
Went to look at that new car yesterday. HAHAHAHHA $159 a month payments? Tell me another one you want me to believe....LOL I know I still owe money on my car yet they tell me almost $400 a month payments... LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO keep the car pal!!! Nothing really wrong with the one I am driving except that dam check engine light keeps coming on and the mechanic tells me nothing wrong!!!! I will keep my car!!!! ;-) The KIA Forte IS a nice car and it IS more comfortable to sit in for a long trip but I CAN afford it!!! He said I could lease it...hell no!!!!!!!! I am NOT throwing my money away!! When the time is up I want what I paid for!!!!!!!!
Not much going on here today...resting the leg and just relaxing is all...temps are finally cooler but then they said today back to 90*????????? chance of rain...we NEED the rain so bad!!! Ground is starting to crack its been so dry. Most of my flowers are dying even though we have been watering them! They looked so pretty after we got them planted and had high hopes for them to spread out and fill in and look even prettier!!! But that isn't going to happen now. :-( Good news I guess is my tomato plants have alot of tomatos on them and I saw last night that a couple of the big ones are starting to turn color!!! :-) My cucumber pickle plants have flowers on them so soon I will have those....the pole green beans are also starting and I put the ladder out there so they could climb up on it. The banana peppers are coming along and also the japaleno peppers...the green peppers are really small yet...not look so good at all...the radishes we already pulled and ate those...hot as hell they were and we watered those alot so they wouldn't be hot.
Well time to get the dishes done before Rick gets up and tells me they need to be done...lol
Thoughts and Prayers for all that need them!!!
HUGS
I only have time for a quick hello. I will be leaving soon to go down to my granddaughters Graduation party. Then I get to bring my Gracie back with me for the week!!
Wishing you all a beautiful day. Prayers for those in need. Special prayers for Trish that her surgery goes well.
Love and many hugs....connie d
Went to church and sang, good service then we went down to the Methodist Church to listen to our new friend play there, he did double duty with our church and his. Lovely people at the Methodist Church and it's right down the road from our eldest daughter. They booked us in to sing there for them in July.
I took the back roads into work today as the B-93 Birthday Bash is happening this weekend at Martin Drag-way. Way too many people and I will probably take the back roads home tonight. I love Country Music and I have never been to the Birthday Bash because it's always way too hot and too many people. A couple of years ago they had it at Ionia Free Fair and a lot of cars got flooded out. They made announcements over the PA but people still didn't move the cars fast enough.
Getting ready for my middle daughter's Renaissance wedding this Saturday. This week is going to fly by really fast for me. Dani will make a beautiful bride and her dress is royle purple with a hoop under the skirt plus she will always have a dress to wear at Ren Fares. Me? I will be a serving wench and I will also use this garb for Halloween! Hugs and prayers for all in need. Deb
