Sunny Saturday, Whatcha Doin?
Hello everyone!
Well, nothing like a little retail therapy to chase away the blue funk! I have had the best day and I've spent it ALL BY MYSELF! It was just what I needed. I didn't have to mess with the baby at all today. I didn't have to fix anyone breakfast or lunch or dinner. I didn't have to change diapers or endure temper tantrums. It's been great.
Instead I took myself into New Braunfels and shopped and puttered the whole day. I didn't even care when the mercury hit 100 degrees today. I just bought myself the cutest little hat to wear and carried on. And actually I spent most of the day in Gruene--this tiny little hamlet that's on the banks of the Guadalupe River. When I was in college, the only thing in Gruene was a big ol' honky tonk. We used to go there and dance to George Strait (before anyone knew he was George Strait).
Anyway NOW Gruene is the cutest little burg and is just chock full of funky little shops and restaurants and wineries and B&B's, and oh yes, it still has the big ol' honky tonk. Oh, I had the best time there. I splurged and bought one new outfit. It's really adorable and very chic! I haven't bought any really nice clothes since I lost weight. So I bought a gorgeous beaded tunic in a luscious orange and purple swirl fabric. And a pair of black leggings. Just right for an evening out on the Riverwalk in San Antonio! And oh, I was so tempted by a long flowy strapless dress at another shop. It was in hot orange and pink, and there was a matching floppy hat AND a matching big tote bag. I may still go back and get that one. Only I would have to buy a new strapless bra for that one, and I'm not sure I really need two dressy outfits, you know? But I do love orange! It's my color and I can wear it.
Well, I also tried on shoes and looked at the antiques and found a precious yarn shop (okay, I know I don't need to buy any more yarn right now), and just generally had a ball all day. Ended with a stop at the grocery store and bought myself a TV dinner, so I haven't had to cook or wash a dish all day.
I did get a brief note from Butch. He was at the airport in Paris waiting for his flight to London. Lucky duck. I'm still super jelly over that one!
Benny and Chris had a good day together. They had a play date with a new friend and then they did some shopping of their own and had lunch out. So we're all doing quite well this evening. I think tomorrow we might go tube the river. It's Benny's birthday tomorrow, but of course he doesn't know that. I have a watermelon icing down on the back porch for tomorrow. We'll wait and have his birthday cake and party after Papaw comes home.
So, love you all! Talk more tomorrow!
