Aloha my OH friends....I always feel guilty when I finally check in, but I just have to. I had my surgery in 2006 and back then I was in here CONSTANTLY!! I so needed the support and comparisons of experiences with WLS. I feel sometimes like I took all that love and sharing for granted and then went back to living life as a "skinny person" without giving back what was so freely given me.

It is early in Hawaii......and the sun is just coming up. I wish I could transmit an image for you of the vast ocean with that shimmering gold that always comes before the sunrise. It is an everyday miracle. The mornings when the whales are here and I see a breach in the golden morning is truly an experience that is beyond my ability to tell you how it feels. The whales have gone back to Alaska for this year, but we always await and welcome their return around Christmas time.

My weight loss story is pretty amazing even to me. Started at 325 and now around 156......six years later. Not sure what they did to my plumbing, but I can eat pretty much anything and not gain weight. I don't pu****keep out sugar, white stuff, and junk food, but I do have pizza, pasta, cheesecake (I know, I know) and until I gain weight I don't take that out of my diet.

To all of you who are just beginning, are scared, are struggling, are feeling like a failure.....PLEASE know that it can get you to goal with just a little daily "I can do this.!

Being able to get down on the floor with my grandchildren, and into and out of any chair is HUGE for me. There was a time I could NOT do any of those things, and had to ask to an extender for my seatbelt on an airplane. I want you to experience NOT having to ask for an extender, and being able to get down on the floor and back up again easily.!!!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Karen, always so good to hear from you. You are an inspiration to us all. I'm happy to hear that you continue to maintain your loss.
I so wish I had my band that worked so well for me until it got a leak! And now I have a sleeve that doesn't work and I am totally out of options!

Aloha my friend....I don't know why some experience regain and others don't. Our bodies are so different aren't they. So very sorry that you have had troubles. A friend of mine went through something similar. She had trouble after RNY....she could not swallow without gagging. They had to go back in and reconnect things. After some time she was OK, and has gone through the losing-too-much phase, and now looks great having gained back the overloss.

Hoping you find a way to get to your ideal weight. You sure are a trooper!!

Aloha nui loa,

Karen
