Monday Morning Musing...How is YOUR day?
Well, here we go....another Monday and a new week! Funny how time seems to fly by! Father’s Day was lovely but it was very humid outside. Kathy and Derek hosted a BBQ for JB and we walked next door (about three city lots away) so that was my exercise, both ways…lol. With my lymphedemic legs, all swollen, even worse in the heat & humidity, I’m always grateful to be able to walk that far. Dan supplied the steaks, corn on the cob and rolls and even made a broccoli & bacon salad! Derek did the cooking and iced the beer for JB. Kathy made salads and a great strawberry shortcake with real whipped cream (as opposed to my usual Cool Whip…lol) and I made sugar-free protein jello for Dan who is on a high protein, low carb eating plan. We had a great visit even though Dan’s wife, Amy, didn’t attend…instead she took HER father out golfing and to the big RIB FEST in town. So it all worked out well. I have finally emptied the last box of papers and stuff from Mom that had been stashed in the laundryroom (I lived in dread of finding yet ANOTHER handwritten will). Monday’s task will be to scrub the floor in there and move the new robo-cat litter machine thingy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Litter_Robot) installed in the room and then get both inside cats used to it. Oreo won't be a problem but our LilyRose is shy and full-figured and doesn't like change. I also plan to go out and buy another flat of fresh local strawberries and more whipping cream and make stuffed (spinach, cheese and fresh mushrooms) chicken breasts for dinner. So that will be more than enough for me to do today, if I get that much done. Hoping that each of you find something to be grateful for today and stay positive. Nancy B : }
Good Morning Nancy and OFF Family,
Your visits at your son's house always sound so pleasant and yummy. I love strawberry shortcake, and sometimes just have some strawberries and whipped cream. The only time I'll buy Cool Whip is for a specific recipe, and then I only buy the sugar free kind.
Today, I have an appointment with a surgeon about a mole on my right shoulder. It has changed in it's color. My primary doctor isalways very cautious about stuff like that, so he is referring me to the surgeon. After the surgeon, I am free for the day. I'll cut the grass and the weeds out back. I also have to get some weed killer, and take care of some weeds that are growing in the cracks of the patio.
I better get dressed and moving on the day.
Hugs and prayers,
Trish

Good morning my OFF sistas!
Hope everyone had a lovely Father's Day with the dads in your life. My daddy, of course, is in Heaven and my sweet husband is in Saudi, so Chris and I consoled ourselves by going shopping at the huge, ginormous outlet mall in San Marcos! (Not one word, btw, from Benny's daddy or other grandpa. Just don't know how to comprehend that one!)
Anyway, I had a birthday coupon from the Vera Bradley store. (This is the neatest deal ever--for your birthday, they send you a $20 coupon good on ANYTHING in the store, even sale items.) I already have a big VB bag that I love and carry everywhere. It's the size of a small cave and I can carry about 50 lbs worth of stuff in it. LOL! But I needed a smaller bag for when I take Benny someplace in his stroller. The outlet mall was having lots of sales for Father's Day anyway, and then I had my $20 coupon, and I ended up getting the cutest bag ever for just $8! Can't beat a deal like that!
We also found some jeans and a new shirt for Chris at Lane Bryant. And we got Benny some more knit shorts and tees for gymnastics. It was a good trip, and didn't cost too much money. We spent more eating out for our dinner than we did on the clothes!
Today we go back to the library for story time. We are looking forward to it. Chris gets to go with us this morning, which is a good thing. I can sit in the chairs at the back and Chris and Benny can sit on the floor and participate in the songs and finger plays. It is good to see my daughter coming out of her blue funk and enjoy being a mommy. She seems to be doing much better these days. (Of course, she's getting an inordinate amount of support--both emotional and financial--from me, but if that's what it takes to give Benny a loving, happy mom, I'm okay with it.)
I'd better go pull some toes and get this family of mine up and moving. Story time starts in just 2 hours.
Love you all!

Good mornin' ya'll.
Nancy, I agree, your visits to your son's always sound yummo! I'm glad you are able to get some walking in.
Trish, I hope that mole is NOTHING to worry about! Our son has a small spot on his lip he is going to have biopsied this week. He says the doc is worried about a carcinoma since he is a red head and does a lot outside. I would be more worried about results of his tobacco use!
Jo, have a great time on your Goodwill trip. I like to go there just to look, not neccessarily buy.
Vickie, so glad your daughter and grandson are flourishing with your love and care! BTW, how is the sale of your house going?
Took my DH to our new IHOP for breakfast yesterday. We split an omelet. I got some flamingos for my yard that are solor powered. In the dark you can only really see the pink ball in the middle of their body. A disappointment. I also got a gorgeous hibiscus that I planted in my little flower garden in front of the house. Our son, grandson and DIL stopped by for awhile. We got a thank you card from our grandson for his grad gift. It brought tears to my eyes. That boy is such a sweet, caring young man!
Another absolutely gorgeous day here. I LOVE it!
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Well Nancy, your Father's Day certainly did sound nice, since I've never had a father, I've no one to celebrate, so it was just a nice day to chill and do things that need doing, like going through papers and getting rid of the stuff I can and planning what I will ultimately scan when I get my scanner that I ordered 5 minutes before it was no longer the deal of the day (lol), but I looked it up online and it had more than 4 stars, so I figured it will greatly alleviate my need to keep so much paper around the house, which I really do not like doing and the scanner is good for lots of other things, well when I get it, it will get a serious workout, decided to order one for my son and his wife as well seeing as when I went over there on Saturday night to babysit the kids, they have mostly packed up their home, which closing takes place on June 27th, but there was a stack of papers my DIL left for my son to go through and I thought, hmmm, that would (the scanner) make a great house warming gift for them when they move to their new home on the same day they close on the home they now live in. . . anyway, in between that, I managed to make sausage and peppers to share with my roommates and I cut up some nectarines and strawberries and threw in some cherries for a nice fruit salad and I spent what time I could trying to get my computer reloaded with the things that were on it prior to their having to redo it. When I went to bed last night though, I could not fall asleep and I remember looking up at the clock and seeing 11:25 and thinking, oh please, I need to sleep so I can be fresh for work this week, well fresh or not, here I am, had to be in at 7 today due to a case filing later tonight. So I may be in bed as early as possible tonight and hoping to sleep well. . .
As for gratitude, I have lots to be grateful for and I wish you all the best possible day and peace and strength for any going through the more challenging aspects of life.
Hugs, Laureen

Good morning Nancy and everyone.....
Nancy ....it sounds like you had an awesome Father's Day weekend. Good for you!! I can't find my recipe for broccoli and bacon salad. Do you have a good one you could post? Thank you!!
Not much happening with me today. The weather changing and all these low, cold temps are causing me such horrible pain. Today the sun is finally shining. I plan to get out and sit on the deck and soak up the rays today!! I have an appointment with my psychiatrist at 1:20. That is all I intend to do today!
Wishing all you lovely ladies a terrific day!!
Prayers continue for many in need.
Love and hugs to all....connie d

My son Dan's recipe for broccoli salad-
From (his) memory:
2 large broccolis cut into small pieces
1 cup shredded cheese
1/2 cup mayo (or lite)
1/4 cup sugar (or sweetner)
1/2 lb bacon fried crisp, drained well and broken into pieces
1/4 cup chopped onion
3 tbsp vinager
salt and pepper
combine, stir, and chill
can adjust ingredients or add garlic, seeds, etc to taste
Yummy...I love broccoli salad too!
Good evening OFF family, I'm heading up the rear once again.
Father's Day was awesome for my hubby all 3 daughter's came over with spouses and children. We played in the little pool and hot tub and had a blast. Hubby cooked ribs/chicken and hot dogs on the grill. I made some awesome potato salad, guacamole and fresh fruit salad. We all sat on our new porch.
After everyone left except for Dani and CJ (they are getting married June 30th) having a Renaissance wedding...I taught CJ how to waltz. Dani all ready knows how to waltz so I told CJ if he gets flustered to just let Dani lead! LOL
It was nice to just talk about the wedding and let Dani have her moment. The other 2 girls are married with children. This is Dani's time to shine.
I will be off for 2 days then on again working a stretch, working double shifts Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Gotta cover for vacations. The money will be nice.
Hugs and prayers for all in need. Debbie
