Well I had a great Weekend!!!!! My car is fixed and I have cold air in it!!!!!. I spent the weekend in Rocky Mountain National Park with my aunt and uncle and great friends. I didnt get to camp but we rented a cabin and that was a plus!!!!!. The bad side was that Ft Collins Colorado had a bad fire and the air around here is smokey!!!!! Kicking up the old asthma!!!!! So glad I went to see my doc before I left to get some much needed inhalers.....
Carl is flying to Denver to meet up with me on the 27th. His boss of 15 years before he retired is retireding so I put 2 and 2 together and made it happen. I called him as I pushed the button to buy his ticket and told him to start packing he was boarding a plane on the 27th. He said where am I going "To Chicago" I said " NO" "To Denver" he said why????? to help me drive back. Little does he know we are going on a vacation.... to upper Michigan to the Macinaw Bridge camping hense the camping gear I put in the car!!!!!
He knew I put in camping gear but didnt think it was for him too......
I know I am a sneek!!!!!

Good mornin' ya'll.
Carla, we so loved camping when the kids were young. My DH and I just aren't built for it anymore! I sure hope you have a grand time. Carl should be excited, too.
Jo, we still have a yard guy. Our son has agreed to 'store' our riding mower at his house. His died (it is only 2 years old, but it was a cheapy). My DH always tells the kids you get what you pay for. Better to pay more to begin with and have it last longer. Or, of course, borrow your Dad's. But I am 'storing' our DIL's elliptical machine, so I guess it's a trade off.
Our OR grandson flew to FL last night. He will be staying with a friend he met at military school. They will stay in FL for a few days, then the family will drive to VT for another week or so. Then fly home from there. He has been working at one of his Mom's Taco Bells and paid for half the ticket himself. There are 2 really good lookin' girls working there with him, so he will be anxious to get back to work. Our granddaughter works at one of the stores, too. But she needs to be driven back and forth til she gets her license.
Our grandson and his PG sweetie just don't seem to 'get it'. They live with her Momma and she will stay there while the grandson is in boot camp and his 'A' school. They pay no rent, even though he is working. Her Momma paid for their gas to come here. They expect our son to pay for their gas to drive home! Our son told them yesterday that as soon as he gets his first duty station our son will be taking his name off their truck (he is a cosigner) and they will have to take their name off the family car insurance policy and get their own. AND he will need to get off their family plan cell phone and get his own. Grandson was a little miffed! Our DIL and I were discussing our experiences of being new military brides and the cheap crummy housing we had to live in til our DHs made enough rate to qualify for military housing. How we had no family support since we were so far away. And our DHs had both been in the service for 4 years before we married them! Our grandson's sweetie was oblivious! She seems to think they will be able to live in a great place, her staying home to care for the baby while our grandson is at work, and probably out to sea half the year. She will be in a place where they know no one.
her Mom said 'I'd love to be able to buy a house wherever you wil be stationed so I could help.' which, to these kids means she is gonna do it! She is upside down on her mortgage in IN. I think she meant this one of the things to add to her 'when I win the lottery' list. Boy, are they in for a rude awakening!! Ahh, to be young and in denial!
Everyone have a fantabulous day.

Carolyn,  I know just what you mean about young folks who don't "get it".  I blame it on television.  Look at shows like "Friends".  None of those characters ever seemed to work, yet they had great apartments, great clothes, great adventures, etc.  Where's the drudgery in that?  There's not any!  So our young people expect life to be the same for them.

Even Christie, with all the hell she's been through these past couple of years, still thinks she's going to be able to return to school next January and not have to work.  She also thinks she's going to somehow be able to find a place for her and Benny to live while she's not working and going to school.  And she thinks she's going to be able to pay all her bills while she's not working, going to school, and living in a nice rent house with a yard for Benny!  She even mentioned BUYING a house to me last week.  Is she for real?

At least my oldest daughter (who just turned 30) has finally starting singing a reality tune.  Halfway through her Ph.D. and watching her friends in grad school earn their doctorate and still not be able to find a job, she's beginning to realize that "the good life" is going to require a LOT of blood, sweat and tears.  Lately she's been full of questions about mortgages and down payments and financing, etc.  She's tired of renting and wants to own her own house when she gets out of school.  I told her she will need a 20% down payment.  Her eyes just about bugged out of her head.  She said you mean if I buy a place that costs $200,000.00, I will need $40,000 to put down???  I said, "yep!"  She said "I thought it made more sense to own a house than to rent one?"  Well, yeah, of course it does, but it takes a lot of hard work to get there.

I blame that on TV shows like "My First Place" and "House Hunters".

Okay, enough soap box.  Just wanted you to know I sympathize!  I love my kids, but gee, I don't know where I went wrong raising them!!!  LOL!

Good Morning Carla and OFF Sisters,
Carla, I'm so glad you got to Colorado safely.  I remember riding in my Mother's car a couple of times when she was in town, and her air conditioner was not working right, and I was miserable.

Today, the woman I am mentoring, using the Bible. fired me as her mentor.  She didn't like me rebuking her, and giving her Scripture fo show her the problem she was creating.

Today, I have to get some bloodwork done.  It's my INR for my Coumadin.  It's very important that I get it done regularly.

I also need to start working on my new grandson's baby blanket.  I'd like to go back to Michigan, probably in August, to see them, and give it to him.  I also would like to finish one I am making for my daughter's sister-in-law.  She is due to have a baby girl in July.  Grandson's comes first, and then the new baby cousin's.  As it is, I already started the one for the cousin, which I originally was making for a Special Olympics raffle.  I can make another, after I finish the two I am working on now, because that raffle is not till October

Need to scoot over to the lab,

Hugs,
Trish

Trish, you said that woman was not receptive to your help. I bet, at some time she is gonna realize what you tried to do for her.
Don't you just love making stuff for babies!? It makes us feel good to think of a little one snuggled up in something we made!

Oh Lordy, I feel a storm brewing.
Let me preface this by saying I DO NOT, sell the stuff I make. Except at the base consignment shop or craft shows, etc. if people don't like my stuff they don't buy it. If someone paid me to make something and they did not like it I would feel terrible. If someone asks me to make something for them or a friend, I will try. I think my daughter and her friends try to stump me, ie. baby booties with elephant heads, doll clothes, bananas foster.
My DIL asked me to make some little pouch things for her son & the PG girlfriend. (A few years back I made bigger versions with handles for wet sandy bathing suits or towels.) They are cloth outside, plastic tablecloth lining with velcro closing. Nice for puked on onsies, cheerios, etc. they can be turned inside out and wiped clean. Sooooo, I made her a variety of sizes and colors all chosen by my DIL. About 10 all together. Fast to make using scraps.
Our grandson and his girlfriend came for breakfast. French toast, sausage, eggs, milk. They had no sooner left than my DIL came down and she was hopping mad!!
This is the conversation she overheard while D & C went through their shower gifts and getting them packed up.
Girlfriend (C): Well, you put the gift cards in your wallet, I'll take the cash. I wish more people had given us cash! I hate driving all over town to spend gift cards. (they got cards from Target where D works, and WM which I can't believe is too far from their house). And we can use cash for anything.
Grandson (D): we can use the cards for anything. Like diapers and stuff we didn't get.
C: Yeah well, I'd rather have the cash.
They continue to pack.
D: don't forget these bags G-Ma made.
C: I don't want them.
D: what? Why?
C: I don't like them. We can just use baggies. Throw them away.
D: I can't throw them away! G-Ma made them! Mom will find them in the trash.
C: so pack them, I'll throw them away when we get home.
D: but G-Ma made them!
C: I don't care. Let's go have breakfast at your Gramma's.
My DIL was livid!! As soon as they left for here she went and got the pouch things. She said she would use them. She said she was gonna have a little talk with D & C. I asked her not to do it on my account. I don't care. As I said if people don't like what I make, they don't have to use them. The $ thing sounded a little crass, though!
I think I am a decent seamstress, crochetter, cook. I have been doing these things for over 40 years. My seams are straight and finished. My crochet is cute and functional. My cooking and baking tastes good to me and my family. That doesn't mean everyone has to like what we like. But I figure if someone asks me to make something for them, they must like my work.
Oh well. Our DIL has been trying very hard to be supportive and caring towards her soon to be DIL. We all have. We will all continue to do so. I think she is just a little immature and has never really had a caring family. It is what it is!

Good Afternoon Carla and everyone.....

I only have time to say "HI" as I am so busy doing things for my sister today. I filled  her med containers and ordered her meds. Then I ran some errands to a couple stores and got what she needed. Now I am cleaning and all that involves.

Having horrible Fibro pain today. Hardly got any sleep last night. The temps went from 90s to 60s and I am feeling it!!
I want to get done with my chores so I can lay down for a while.

Wishing you all a beautiful day!!  So many here are in my daily prayers....God Bless.

Love and hugs.....connie d

Have been walking with a walker the last few days as have excruciating pain in left knee (osteoarthritis) like a dull toothache with lancings of sharp pain when I bend knee, or put weight on that leg getting up or down to-from seated position...Have not been getting much sleep despite using NSAIDs and ithis is more pain than I`ve had in a long time...Physio has proven to be not much help in past.  Not even acupuncture anymore.

Have 3 days work this week, wishing I had none as can`t find a replacement to take over my contract.  Also girfriend arriving from west coast tonight and haven`t been able to do a major grocery shop...This is going to be embarrassing and I will still have to pick her up at airport on arrival..She didn;t give me full itinerary, just last plane arrival time, suspect her first flight is delayed ( trying to guess which one she took as there are several possibilities). Means if she misses her connection she will only rrive at 9.10 pm  ( insstead of 8.10 pm) as just one flight per hour out of Toronto to Ottawa.

My advice: if anyone is using connecting flights coming to visit you, ask for their full flight(s) itinerary so you can keep track on each flight`s on time arrival for the next connection...and figure what time they are really going to come in...Will try to do a mini grocery shop on way to airport and expect to cool my heels there until the next flight gets in as suspect she will miss her connection in Toronto!.....
