Tuesday already???
It’s 3:30 am and here I sit....again *s*. I’m just drinking a hot chocolate protein drink and then I will attempt to sleep. It’s been a quiet day, but every day I go thru at least one box or bag from, Mom and sort thru things, keep what’s impossible to throw out but slowly reducing the contents though never the memories. *s*
Oreo helps me investigate everything, sniffing and talking...he is a very vocal kitten, and to my delight, loves to fetch his toys and brings them right back to me! If he drops it a bit too far for me to reach, I coax him a bit and he will pick it up again and drop it closer to my hand. His favourite toys are a small cloth alligator and a crocheted ball bigger than his head...that's when we are watching. Every morning, we find things in places where they shouldn't be. Meanwhile, SillyRose lays nearby, squinting from behind closed eyes, doing her best imitation of the Great Sphinx of Egypt. They both work very hard at looking innocent but i know better.Tuesday afternoon, I will be having a procedure done that I’ve never dared to before! I’m so excited..I’m getting my eyebrows tattooed on! Yes, I’m 64 and I’m extremely fair-skinned….so much so that I do not realize how pale I am until I see a photo of me with someone else. Being a natural blonde, my lashes and eyebrows are white, always have been. I have the Black Irish very white skin( from Mom who had jet black hair) aka fishbelly white, I call it...so I've always been asked if I feel well..I'm looking so pale. Dad was the blonde & blue-eyed one and I apparently look alot like him.
Derek’s lady, Kathy, is a natural redhead though she changes colours now and then. She is also very fair-skinned. I did not know until this past weekend, that she has her eyebrows, eyeliner and lips all tattooed! They look so natural and no matter when I see her, she always looks so beautiful – nothing overdone or obvious, just perfect for her colouring. Her best friend , with 30plus years of experience and licensed, did it and Kathy set an appointment up for me. We start first with eyebrows …$200.00…but then since half of my brows don’t grow anymore, I am justifying this- *grins* I told JB that I’d save a lot of $$$ not needing so much makeup anymore. Besides I have my inheritance and Mom would get such a kick out of this! I’m not fond of needles but once the freezing is in, I can handle it., I’ve handled so much worse. Kathy is taking me to make sure that I don’t drive after, because we don’t know how I may react…besides, I need the support. JB thinks it’s crazy but I think this will help me feel more assured of myself a bit. If I can handle that, next is the eyeliner...nothing bold, just discreet but THERE..not sure how much they cost but the lips are $450.00 so I will EASE into this gently…lol.. I know this sounds so silly at my age…Kathy is encouraging me and says her mother also had it done which I didn’t know. I just want to feel..well, pretty. I’ve really thought a lot about a lower body lift but I just cannot face more extensive surgery but maybe one day, an eyelift. One of my sisters-in-law had it done in the Spring and it took years off her face. I used to tell Mom that one day, maybe I’d do that…lol. With my weight loss, my face is no longer full and wrinkle-free and it still seems to shock me to see myself in the mirror. Mom always id it was faulty mirrors and that her mirrors were the same way…lol..some strange old lady in them. Am I being silly and egotistical? I’ve never felt attractive even with my weight loss but somehow I want to do this. BTW, I would never do this if it took away from my family but now we are comfortable enough and it won’t harm anyone...I see it as Mom’s gift to me. Nancy BNancy--you go girl! I have often wondered about the eyeliner! I would also love to try Latisse for my eyelashes, which are pale blonde and absolutely disappear without mascara. I hate putting on mascara. And since WLS, I also need an eyelift. I think it's perfectly normal to want to look pretty. We all want that.
I am trying to settle down now into life here at Hilltop with Benny and Christie. It's hard when I miss Butch so much, but I heard from him and he made it to the rig safely. So now I can relax about him travelling. I am trying to make my brain "turn off" a bit. Last night I had a long exhausting dream about working, working, working to get the house clean. I need to let all of that go. I've done what I can to get the house on the market. The rest is up to God.
Yesterday I was exploring the area a bit and I found what looks to be a wonderful pre-school for Benny this fall at one of the local churches. He would go 2 days a week and it is very close by. I think it would be wonderful for him to start socializing with other children and learning his place in a classroom setting, etc. They teach letters and numbers and colors, plus social skills. Just right for a 2 year old.
But I still need to find some sort of little summer program for him to attend right now. All the vacation Bible schools are going on, but they're not geared for 2 year olds. Maybe I can find a weekly story time program at one of the libraries.
I sent both of my girls to Mother's Day Out and pre-school and I'm a firm believer in socializing little ones at an early age.
Today I absolutely HAVE to pay bills! My goodness, it's already the 5th. I am never this late settling my check book and paying bills. So that's my goal for the day.
Already been out this morning and fed my deer, my squirrels and my birdies. I do so love it here.
I'd better get going. Benny will be up in a few minutes. He's sleeping late today.
Love you all!
All three of my kids went to preschool. I also believe in getting them socialized. In addition to preschool, they went to Sunday School and church.
My daughter is doing the same thing with my grandchildren. Isabel went to a preschool program at a friend's house when she was three. This past school year, the school district provided a Pre-K program at the school. It's a requirement in Michigan that the public schools provide preschool. For parents that can afford, they require tuition. For prents that can't afford, they don't have to pay. Because my daughter and her husband can't afford it, they did not have to pay.
I hope you find something for Benny. It would be so good for him.
Hugs,
Trish

Nancy, I think it is a wonderful thing you are doing for yourself! My daughter has had her eyebrows dyed, but never tattooed. That is intriquing! I was a blonde til I was in high school and it started coming in brown...my eyebrows and lashes stayed so white you can't see them. Our daughter is a redhead and you can't see hers either!
Vickie, I am soooo glad you are getting settled in at Hilltop with Benny and Christie. I bet Benny misses Butch, too. I sure hope your house sells quickly and for the price you are asking!
I am ever so happy to be back on my own bed. And my own AC settings! Our daughter had to sign a thing in her lease that she wouldn't run the AC below 70. Of course, they don't get as hot as we do. But we keep it 69 during the day and 64 or 65 at night!! I have gone through the mail. Mostly catalogues and statements, all of our bills automatically come out of our checking account. Most of our statements are paperless, but a few still come in the mail. I have folded the clothes ( my DH lives out of the dryer while I'm gone ).
I also unloaded the dishwasher and inventoried the groceries and made a list. As soon as I finish my tea, we will be off to the Commissary. Not sure if our DIL wants to go or wants us to pick stuff up for her, but yesterday she said to let her know when we were going.
Our lawn guy is here trimming the neighbors lilacs that hang over our property. I love the smell of them. But the morning glory vines have taken them over and are choking them out. They don't stay out as long as they used to. But my lilacs are bloomimg, so I should have my own to smell soon.
Everyone have a fantabulous day!
Nancy, go for it. I love the idea of getting your eyebrows tatooed on.
I had a good night's sleep last night, but was extremely busy cleaning my floors yesterday. Dusted and mopped my living room and kitchen. Vaccuumed my hall and bedroom. Tons of dog hair. I love Utley, but when he sheds, he leaves lots of hair everywhere.
Nancy, I love the thought of your cat playing fetch. Utley loves to play fetch. He can go for hours at a time. None of my previous dogs were like this at all.
Must scoot.
Love and hugs,
Trish

I have enjoyed reading your posts today. Thanks to everyone who shares.
I have been sooooo busy. I thought today was recycle day. No, it's tomorrow. I'm not bringing it in just to put it out again tomorrow. Neighbors will think I'm nuts.
I don't know if I mentioned it, but I fell out of bed a little bit ago. Seemed OK at first. Now strange sounds and bad pain in my neck that radiates into my head. Wearing my neck brace which helps to stabilize it. Have doctor's appointment in 2 hours. I'm sure he will order x-rays and other tests.
Must run. Paying bills on line. Must go to the post office too.
Hugs and blessing going your way, Mag
