Colonoscopy Negative and Cleared for WLS
VSG on 05/30/12
My WLS surgery was scheduled back in April for May 30 but later in all the testing they found blood in my stools and schedule me for a Colonoscopy on the May 14th only 3 days after my daughter gave birth to my first granddaughter and 14 days after I lost my brother from cancer. It's been a crazy time of emotions both good and bad.
I started my pre-op diet at the beginning of the month knowing I still had one more hurdle to clear that darn colonscopy. At first it was really hard I was very hungry in the first few days like all diets but more importantly my heart wasn't in it. If i have cancer there would be no surgery. I had to travel to NE to see my bro before he died and than attend his funeral. I got back home on the 7th. But life goes on and I got busy trying to be positive. I just wanted to get this test over with no matter what the results I was tired of waiting.
After drinking that horrible heavy liq and then what came next my stomach was crying out! I did lose some more wt but wouldn't want to repeat that again. It all turned out fine No cancer but the 3 week wait to hear this good news while watching my bro die from cancer was pretty hard. After that I was cleared for my WLS or at least it didn't have to be canceled, so this last week I've really had to buckle down. Before my Colonoscopy my heart was just not in it... now it is, I feel recharged and ready for this surgery. Can't wait! Nervous still yes but excited all at the same time.

Sorry about your brother and very happy for you about your granddaughter (mine is 16 but she will always be my baby).
I'm glad your colonoscopy turned out good. That is one thing I'm just not looking forward to. I had one 5 years ago and swote it would be my last. The liquid diet wasn't a problem. That nasty laxative -- I thought it would kill me.
Best wishes for all good things.

Hi Carla,
I love road trips have fun and drive careful.
As for my colonoscopy, it's not done routinely for WLS pre-op stuff I just tested positive for blood in my stools so it was the next step to find out why I had blood in my stools, once found they needed to clear me before I could have my WLS.
Thanks for the welcome and I look forward to hearing about your trip.

You will be so glad you had the surgery once she starts crawling and toddling around! I can get up and down off the floor with my little grandson now--something I couldn't have done before WLS!
