Just dropping by....
Hope everyone is doing well. As for me, I have been really sick and was in the hospital for 48 hours . Thought I was having a heart attack , only to find out that my heart is fine but my body was depleted of all sodium and very low on potassium!! So I was put on fluid restrictions and taken off the blood pressure meds with the diuretic in it.
Well,,came home and got weaker and weaker and sicker and sicker. Some days I couldnt even get out of the bed.. Had more testing done, learned I am suffering from severe adrenal exhaustion from prolonged stress as well as severe B12 and D3 depletion! Ugh!
So, now I am on a natural hormone cream that I rub into my wrists twice a day for 15 days of every month. Also 6000 mg of B12 daily and 5000 mg D3 weekly. On anxiety meds too . Glad to say I am starting to feel better and finding my energy again.
I had gained about 45 pounds back, was so depressed about it. So I went with a friend to research the Metabolic Research Center. Actually, they are the ones that gave me the saliva test for the adrenals,,and found I was dangerously low in every hormone in my body. I started their metabolically balanced eating plan and have so far lost almost 20 pounds. Its a lot like we all ate right after surgery, with protein supplements, no sugar, white anything, whole grains and lots of vegetables. Im enjoying it. Getting back into my clothes is exciting too. My husband is eating the same thing I am, only more protein simply because hes a man,,and he has lost almost 30 pounds in 7 weeks. Hes feeling good and so thrilled. I eat 6 times a day, just like after surgery. Drink my water and avoid caffeine. Its got me back on track,,and Im thankful for that.
Looking forward to getting out in that garden and working soon,,that will help the vitamin D too.
Well, just stopped in to let you all know,,KEEP TAKING THOSE VITAMINS! Its eay to slack off when its been years since our surgery,,but its not worth it. I thought I was dying! So keep taking em,,and stay healthy!
Be blessed!
Betsy
Glad you are feeling better. I had low sodium levels, and had to be on fluid restrictions in the hospital as well. I also had to go off diuretics too. I still had to see a kidney specialist, who had me talk to my psychiatrist about my Cymbalta. He changed me to Celexa. They are testing my blood in a couple of weeks.
I am also on B12 shots and vitamin D supplements. Now and then, I still need IV iron transfusions. But, I agree, that our diet and vitamin supplements should be just like we were post-op. Less processed foods, more protein supplements, etc.
Good luck.
Hugs,
Trish

So sorry you are dealing with stress and so many health issues. It sounds like you are back on track once again. Good for you!
Congrats on your weight loss and healthy eating!!
I gained about 30 pounds....I am back to basics and have lost 20 so far. It is a lot slower going but I am determined to get back to where I was!!
Wishing you the very best!! Hope we see you here more often!!

Before I had the revision, and before they started giving me tube feedings, my sodium, potassium, and calcium levels dropped so low that I was confused and my muscles were cramped up so bad that I thought I was dying. DH found me confused and screaming in pain from the cramps. He called an ambulance and the ER doctor had no idea what he was dealing with but thankfully, DH said, she is malnourished because something has happend to her since having WLS. That was all it took. He called my surgeon, and they started running test and giving me all the IV minerals and glucose they could get into me. As a result, I really watch all of my levels of everything. But, they do give me B12 every month as an injection because even with the revision and giving me more small intestine, I cannot produce the right ingredients to absorb B12.
The ER doctor told my husband, my sodium, potassium, and calcium were so low that most people would have had a heart attack. So we all need to make sure we keep up our lab work. Darlene was always so good to keep us educated on our levels and I sure do miss her. Has anyone spoken to her?
Darlene, if you are out there, we all miss you. In fact, Susan…where the hell are you. Where are the two Karens? I guess once we get the weight off, we get so busy living that we rarely have time to stop by. I try to check on folks once a day or every other day.
AIGHT, I'm outta here.
Got my D prescription and its 10 thousand mg a week,,instead of five. Im sitting on the patio on the swing every day too, to help with the sunlight thing.
So, one day at a time I guess,,and someday soon I will start to feel better.
Thanks for the posts,,I have missed you all and will check in now and then. I may not always post but I love reading what you all are up to.
Lightswitch,,I remember when you were trying to get your surgery,,so proud of you!! You have hung on here and are still encouraging people!
Thanks for that!
And Connie,,the same goes for you!!
Well, headed back to the bed..about washed out again.
Blessings!
