Hi my OFF family:

FireFox is playing games with me. Won't change my type size. I'll have to change it at the end.

We had an easy night at work; everything went so smoothly for a Saturday night. We were all done by 10:30 p.m., even sports. It was great.

Our Derby/Cinco de Mayo pot luck wound up to be a dessert table (more or less) ... just about every one brought brownies or other baked goods. I didn't; I brought tortilla chips, guacamole and queso. Still, there was no protein, so when I got home I was really craving protein ... had cheese and turkey/ham. All the brownies were good, but didn't really need them ... I had a real sugar rush.

My White Sox did well yesterday ... came back from a 2-0 defeat to win 3-2 on a late homer. So exciting.

Anyway, what's new in your world? Chat away, I'll be back later.

Morning Eileen and OFF family to stop by yet...

Went to bingo last night, sat on number 16 seemed like forever and ofcourse somebody else wins the jackpot!! Sighs...guess I didn't need the money this time...LOL But we had fun.

Couple days ago Rick's mom calls us begging for money so she can mkae her car payment. Seems she had enough money to go to her other son's last night and to deja vu with him! Seems she ALWAYS has money for him and her fun...still waiting for OUR Christmas with her and the rest of Rick's family. She wants to come here for it. Gave up on ever having it and opening gifts. I DID try to give her the gifts just after Christmas when we where back there visiting but she insisted we wait til they came HERE!! So I have all these gifts sitting here...nice slap in the face if you ask me. Oh well. And NO I did NOT loan or give her any money for her car payment and I will NEVER give that woman any money for any thing at all!!! Just sick of her treating Rick like dirt until she needs something.

Want to move the furniture around today so that the ac can be turned on when it gets warm. Right now the couch is blocking it.

Supposed to get heavy rain tomorrow they say. I hope and pray they are WRONG!!! Had enough of this rain and flooding already here!!

Got word they are coming to inpsect the property on the 17th. This is the USDA Rural Development. Boss says nothing to worry about. Easy for her to say she has been through it before....LOL. But I will trust her and be calm over it.

Well time to get my butt in gear. Need to get to the grocery store and get a few things and then do what I want in here with the furniture and then relax and watch the NASCAR race...TALLADEGA!!!

Thoughts and Prayers for all that need them!!

HUGS

Good mornin'' ya'll.
Yep, it's Sunday. We had a major thunderstorm last night. I love to go to sleep to the sound of rain and thunder, and watching the flashes of lightening.
Today, more dollie clothes. I just have a few more things I wanna make, then the 3 boxes of material scraps go back in the closet. Actually, I think I'll be able to consolidate into 2 boxes. More room in the closet! When we have company there is no closet space for anyone to hang stuff. The back bedroom closet has my fold down/fold up table for my sewing machine on one side and stacks of rubbermaid full of yarn on the other. The middle bedroom has boxes of genealogy research, old material, winter or summer clothes depending on the season, Halloween costumes, etc. and to get in that closet you have to move a very large elliptacle machine. The hall closet just keeps getting more full of overflow from our bedroom closet. Do I actually wear all those clothes?? Anyway, I guess I'm a pack rat. Not a hoarder yet. You can still walk around in here. But don't attempt to find anything in one of our 3 sheds!
I know it's time to leave the family room and get on with a project when the TV goes off and my DH starts giving me little tidbits of information as he surfs the net. Like I care what celebrity is doing what and why in God's name does HE care!
So, off to my craft room.
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Oh, Carolyn, I hear ya about the craft closets!  One of my biggest dilemmas is what to do with all my yarn and fabric and stuff before we put the house up for sale.  I know I need to clean out my sewing room and closet.  But where do I put it all???  I've got it all in those big tubs, too!

And my big sewing table that Butch made me with the drop leaves--I need to move it out of the corner so the room looks bigger.  But where do I move it to?  It's a problem, isn't it?

I finally gave up and just threw away all my paints and misc. craft items.  Bits of this and that and the other.  But I can't bring myself to throw away yarn and sewing notions and fabric!

I did box up all my genealogy research and seal the boxes with packing tape and I moved them down to the other lakehouse.  You can at least see the bookcase in the office now.  LOL!

I think we must be twin sisters!  Only I don't have as many projects going as you do right now. Heck, I don't have ANY projects going right now. I'm babysitting.  But  I love hearing about your sewing and crochet projects!  Keep 'em coming!

Good morning Eileen, Judy and Carolyn!

We had a huge thunderstorm here during the night.  OMG.  Gigantic claps of thunder all night long.  The window panes rattled in this old house.  I'm very happy for the rain, because the earth is still so parched from the long drought last year, but around 4 a.m., I remembered that I left the sun roof cracked open on my new car!

Well, that was the end of my good night's sleep!  I sure didn't want to go out there in the storm, and I figured that whatever rain was going to leak in had already done so, but I just couldn't quit worrying about it for the rest of the night.  Went out a little while ago and it's really not too bad.  Closed up the window, wiped the seats off with a towel and came back in.  It's still raining cats and dogs.  I hope it rains all day.  We sure do need it.

Waiting on my phone call from Butch this morning.  Our last phone call until he comes home in just 3 more days.  I can't wait!

So, just between us OFF sistas, I've got to tell you all, I'm really struggling with my back pain and lifting Benny up and down.  Yesterday evening at bath time, I was really hurting.  I'm not at all sure I can do this!  But I've got to do it.  Everyone is depending on me.

And Benny is not quite 2 years old yet.  So the lifting will continue for awhile.  Up and down on the changing table, up and down out of the high chair, up and down out of the tub, the grocery cart, the car seat, etc.  This is the first time I've ever really felt my age, you know?  I've just got to find some way to manage this.

Benny is such a sweet baby most of the time.  But these temper tantrums are growing daily.  It's almost funny to watch.  Yesterday he wanted to scoop the sand out of his sandbox and dump it on all the chair cushions on the back porch.  When I told him "no", he got mad and flung his little shovel which was full of sand.  OMG.  He scored a direct hit on Mimi!  I was STILL digging sand out of my ear last night at 10 p.m.!!!  LOL!  (He didn't throw it at me purposely; he just threw it and I happened to be in the line of fire.)  You gotta laugh about this stuff or go crazy.

I see my deer out there wanting their breakfast, but I'm not so sure I want to venture out into the rain to give it to them this morning.  They might have to go without today.

Well, I hope everyone is doing fine today.  Sounds like there was a lot of rain all over the country.  We'd better hold onto it while we can.  They're promising another triple digit summer here and more drought.  Geez.

Love you all!

So glad I'm not you guys ... I see my grand nephews a couple times a year and they are angels ... because if they're not, their dad Matt gives them "the look" and the stern voice. Ben usually doesn't misbehave anyway in company; Sam is the free spirit and usually gets wound up more. But they are so well-behaved, and I think it's their parents. They keep them in line.

Andrea was brought up well (not saying Chris wasn't; I know she has issues); Matt grew up in a family of alcoholics. Of those in his family, he is the only one who didn't succumb to alcohol or drug abuse. His brother is in prison; his sister has children but died from drug abuse. Matt turned out well; he took care of his parents and his siblings growing up.

I was not born to be a mom, I guess. Don't have the temperment.

Vickie,

I know how you feel with the back.  I had custody of my sweet Mathew from the time he was a little fella until he was potty training age or close to potty training.  I can tell you that I lerned really quickly that Nana had to come up with alternatives to all that lifting.  For instance, I couldn't lift him up on the bed let alone the changing table, so I bought little stools and taught him, with me holding his hand, how to climb up on the bed or sofa for me and there, I changed his diapers.   At the grocery store, I found that the grocery carts have the side that lifts up, so I lifted and he climbed in or I boosted him in that way; much easier on the back.  He and I learned that Nana had to hold his hand to the car, but once at the car, he could, with a little help, get into the car and climb into his car seat. Same with bath time.  I took his stool to the tub, and let him climb in and it was easier to hold his hand for him to climb over than for me to try and lift him in and out.   The first few weeks that I had him, I was so miserable with back pain that I learned to use all of his developmental milestones to my advantage.  He was then and still is an independent little fellow.  You will figure it out but take care of your back or you won't be able to help anyone.   The changing table is an invention that is for young mothers; us older gals, can settle for the floor or the sofa with a little towel to use as padding and protection.   My Mathew learned real quick to get his diaper, hand me the folded towel and the baby wipes, and he climbed up on the sofa and soon learned to lift his little behind.  Yes…every little bit helps.

Vickie, are you kiddin' me? No projects? Cleaning out your house. Watching a baby. Keeping things together til your love gets home.
I know what you mean with your back and lifting Benny! I was a back-up babysitter for a friend of my DIL back before I had a new left shoulder. Trying to get that baby up and down everywhere was sooo painful! Thank heaven for 800 mg Motrin!
Temper tantrums? Our red haired daughter was the queen of temper tantrums. She would scream and scream! I would send her to our room and the other kids and I would take a walk and we could hear her screams all the way down the block! I can't count the number of times I left a cart full of groceries and went home because she wanted something I wouldn't buy! Her son ( the one in the military academy), used to throw fits and bite himself! He finally outgrew it. I wonder if it had something to do with his identical twin who died in-vitro a month before he was born. Twins have a connection!
