Cruise mode
I will admit to all of you....I don't have it figured out. I'm not perfect. I fight my weight every day, that's not going away but mindful eating helps.
Here's a thought for WLS peeps, yes we can cruise for awhile and drop weight then it's all us working hard to get to our goals. I got to my goal by exercise and I mean exercise. I worked hard to get to my size 6/8 and hell, I even got into size 4's for a time. Now, due to my pain with adhesions, I'm really mindful of eating since I can't exericse like I did. I'm not complaining just facing the facts of life. Walking is okay for me but even then sometimes I get pain when I push myself. So...my weight is what it is and I'm not stressing about it. Like yesterday's post. I'm ART...I am a work in progress after 5 years post op! I'm a surviver yesereeeeeeee!
We may be able to cruise for a while -- but given enough time, the system you set in place will break down without your active involvement in keeping it going.
I just didn't want you to be surprised.

Where did we get the idea that, as adults, we should have things figured out? That once we learned something, we could just cruise? That if we met a certain threshold, things would take care of themselves without our input or energy? We may be able to cruise for a while -- but given enough time, the system you set in place will break down without your active involvement in keeping it going.

I feel like I'm an AA person, "Hello, my name is Jan and I'm obese".
It's a lifelong battle. Unlike you, I never got below a size 10/12, and I'm ok with that because my health has improved so much and I am living life on my terms and loving every minute of it. And I'm too old to worry about being model thin. I can take a little bit of chubby compared to what I've got.
I try to have at least 4 mindful days every week and "cruise" a little the other three. Not really cruising but allow myself a little more leeway. It works. But it is work for a lifetime and I'll be watching it for life.
Hugs!

Yep we gotta live and not stress about food and weight.
The thing is so many people feel like failures if they never met their goal or regain some weight.
I have always felt that people look prettier with a little weight on and not model thin too.
With my regain, I got my boobies back and my butt...but I'm not happy with my gut.
Eventually my weight will come off in time, it's not a race.
Remember we are a work of ART...our work is never done. Mindful Eating helps.

That's one thing I don't have much patience for with some people. I mean, they were heavy enough to have surgery, and now they want to be model thin. For me, it was never a number on the scale (though if I had to pick one, it would be less than hubby weighs. hehe Still working on that). It's about health (off all my meds) and being able to participate in life. In less than 3 weeks I will be doing my 5th half marathon. FIFTH! Before, I couldn't walk a 1/4 mile without my knees and back hurting. My family was having fun while I watched. Now I have fun too. I don't need to be a size 6 or 8 to do that. So now that you've (not you Debbiejean, those rnyers in general) lost enough weight to be healthy and active and enjoy whatever it was you felt you were missing out on, why care so much about a number? But that's me.
Hugs.
