Sunday What's Up?

Good Morning Everyone,
I am still up, because I am too wound up from my wonderful day in New York.  We saw a matinee of the Broadway musical "Once."  It was a movie years ago, and recently came to Broadway.  After the show, we had dinner at an Italian restaurant on Mulberry Street, which is blocks of Italian restaurants.  I got a ton of exercise climbing subway stairs and keeping up with Chris.  My body aches, but it is good.  It is out of shape, and in schock from today.

Speaking of aches.  My arthritis is out of control this weekend.  I have been taking Celebrex for the past two months, for the shoulder pain from my infamous fall, because it is the only NSAID I can take, because I am on Coumadin.  It helps a little with the shoulder pain, but until this weeknd, I didn't realize how much it helps with the arthritis.  Because I am having a colonoscopy on Tuesday, I had to stop taking both the Coumadin and the Celebrex.  So, I have to call the pain management office on Monday to get me through till I have both the colonoscopy and a cortisone shot the day after.

Sunday has me heading to church, which I love.  The people there are so loving, and helpful.  They got me through my hospitalization and early recuperation from the surgery.  After church, a group of women from my Bible study are heading to Panera for lunch.  Later, I hope to get to an AA meeting.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Hugs,
Trish

Morning OFF family...well even though I felt crappy last night I went to bingo just to get out and have some fun. I won the first game but had to split it with two others...got a whole $10.50 yippeee LOL Rick stayed home but I played cards for him also. Had a chance for the jackpot but lost that one also. Oh well there is next week!

Looks like rain today here. Heard we could have some storms again. NOT looking forward to storms OR heavy rain! With the flooding we get here I do not like the threat of rain at all anymore!

The saga continues with Rick's mother. She still hasn't come to see our place and yet she can be about 45 minutes from us at her other son's place. Saw on FB she was there and also her sister was with her. Nice huh? I could care less if she ever comes here but Rick would like to see his mom I think. Then again he is happy without her and listening to her same old crap everytime she opens her mouth.

Got a whole line of lights out on other side of us here. Not sure what happened to them. So Rick has work to do to get them lit again. Hope its nothing serious.

Time for Bandit to go for a walk so best get going here. Thoughts and Prayers for all that need them!!

HUGS

Yesterday was a beautiful spring day here in Alberta. I was out cutting ***** willows and enjoying the sunshine. I wake up today and it's snowing!  Yuck!  That is the nature of spring here for sure !

I think today we will watch the USA vs Canada men's world curling match this morning.  After that some cleaning, and maybe we will go to the mall in the city and walk awhile.

I'm 12 days post op and doing well ... Not quite getting the protein I should be, but tracking and drinking fluids, and the scale is moving nicely.  I'm lookng forward to soft foods this week!

Hope everyone is enjoying your Sunday!

 Hi BJ,
Not sure if you saw my reply to you earlier this week.  Try to find some Isopure protein drink.  It is a clear liquid, and has 40 grams of protein in each bottle.  General Nutrition Center (GNC) sells it.  I usually get it online.

Good luck.

Hugs,
Trish

Good afternoon everyone!

We have had a lazy morning--which we needed!  Seems like we have been running at full tilt for days now.  However, it's time to start doing some work this afternoon.  Still have way too many things left to tick off my to-do list.

We nearly had an April Fool's joke played on us big time this morning.  We woke up and decided to enjoy a cup of coffee (or hot tea for me) in the hot tub this morning.  We were just before getting in when the dogs started barking.  It was the painter driving up the driveway at 9 a.m. on a Sunday morning!  WTH?  Another five minutes and he would have caught us naked in the hot tub.  (Remember we live out in the country.  We don't bother with bathing suits out here, just birthday suits!  LOL!)

Can't help but think of Caroline in Las Vegas today, getting ready for the CMA's this evening.  I told Butch we should plan to do that next year, if we get this house sold.  Sounds like so much fun!  I hope she has a ball!

Also took a page from Caroline's book this morning and we had BLT's for our brunch.  Oh, they were so good.  This past week has really been a wild ride for me with my food intake.  Yesterday we bought plate lunches from the VFD's fish fry down at the lake.  It's not that I eat very much, just that I've been eating a lot of foods I don't normally encounter: fried fish, bbq, hamburgers . . .   They're messing me up.  I feel like I've been reduced to "see it, eat it" this past week.

At least I'm not eating sugar or drinking Cokes.

Well, it's 1 p.m. and I promised myself I would get back to work by then, so I'll sign off now.

Love you all (and that's no April's Fool joke!)

Hello OFF buddies!

Trish your  day sounds like a dream.  Sorry about the aches and pains, and good luck with the colonoscopy Ugh!  I had one last year and the prep was the most difficult part.  Just when I thought I was finished pooping, more poop! It gave the phrase "Full of sh****t" a whole new meaning.

Yesterday was a nonstop day.  After working at school from 9a.m. to noon I had to schlep to downtown Miami to notarize a power of attorney for a nursing home resident, then rush over to my son's house in Coral Gables so we could all drive to West Miami, for the Youth Fair.   The fickle South Florida wheather had a surprise for us, and it began to rain cats and dogs, so we had lunch and waited until the rain stopped, then drove over to the Fair.  By then is was 4 p.m., and I had already put in a full day, not to mention driving over 50 miles.

The Fair was great, lots of rides and plenty of arts and crafts for sale, especially cool, cheap jewelry.  And it was wonderful spending time with the family.   Rode the rides, shopped and WALKED until 11 p.m. when it closed.  My son and DIL wanted me to spend the night, but I like to sleep in my own bed, so I drove the 25 miles north to Pembroke Pines.  Finally got home at 12:30 a.m. and poured myself into bed.  I am soooo tired today.  Just enough energy to do the laundry and wash my hair.

Have a blessed Sunday everyone,

Happy Sunday, everyone!  I woke up to thunderboomers and rain…one of those kinda snuggle-up-on-the-couch-under-a-fuzzy-afghan-,a-cup-of-tea-and-a-book days *s* JB already mowed the lawns yesterday…so strange to have blossoms and greenery so early!! There’s a gorgeous male cardinal here, peering inside our dining room windows, then over the house to the back windows and preening and plumping up to defy that nasty interloper male cardinal that he sees in every window…lol…he is having quite a time defending his territory from himself! Such striking colours, these cardinals! I read that, if a cardinal loses a feather, say, it falls to the ground, we cannot usually SEE it because we look for RED feathers.  Instead, their feathers are a rather mousy colour so we do not recognize them at all.   Apparently the red comes from the reflection of the sunlight on them. I put away four loads of folded laundry…,whew…my work here is done…or so I have declared.  We had a bit of a brunch today, JB and I..I made a platter of cheeses, crackers, cut fruit and yogurt and we munched our way thru a movie. Son Derek & his girlfriend Kathy/Kasia will pick us up at 5:30 and we will drive together into the city for my Family Birthday Dinner. Dan & Amy will meet us there as will Kathy’s parents.  Kathy has been helping a girlfriend move all weekend and just called in a panic because she JUST realized that she forgot to make me a birthday cake!  Lol..I just laughed and said not to worry, I do not NEED cake. My present is having my family together. *s* I’m feeling better every day now but the body pain and the fatigue is persistent.  However, I do my best to not focus on that and to celebrate the healing. Yesterday, two ladies from a feral cat group came over to list all of our kitties…seems to me it would be easier to start with one colour..all the blacks, all the whites, all the B&W(tuxedos), all the solid oranges, then the orange and whites, then the torties, calicos & the tabbies.  However, they fussed and got confused because the cats never stayed in place…the nerve!  Alice is heavily pregnant, they are taking her to give birth and socialize the babies before getting them new homes after being vaccinated and neutered.  We have 26 feral cats to be neutered and this is costing us a bundle....may have to sell my firstborn or sell pencils on the street corner.  Feral cats are a problem..they aren’t spayed or needled so they get diseases and can die horrible deaths and, of course, multiply.  Because we live in the country, people dump unwanted cats (and dogs) off here. We don’t mind feeding and providing shelter (have been for the last 30 years) as these poor creatures are innocent and only want to be loved, but somehow we need to control the growing population or they all will suffer. So now JB and I (and Derek) have to make a trip to a very RARE vet (over one hour away each way) who actually donates some time to spay & neutering feral cats…we have to be there for 8 am! Yuck! And go back to pick them up at 5 pm, keep the cats separated in a shelter (our breezeway) for one week to heal their big incisions and keep them reasonably still and unmolested by other animals. We have to do 2-3 cats at a time with one week in between so the recovering ones can heal before we start the next batch.

Well, I’ve got to go and try to make myself look human. *s*

Love, energy and hugs to all,

Nancy B  :  }

Hi Nancy,
When I moved into this neighborhood, I noticed a slew of feral cats.  One of my neighbors would always have bowls of food and water on her front porch.  At first it bothered me, but I recently learned that this cat friendly neighbor had them all neutered.  I think that is a great idea.

Have a wonderful birthday dinner.  You want what I always want.  Time with the family.l

Hugs,
Trish
