What On Earth Has Happened to Me?
I was working just fine yesterday after a breakfast of 1 cup of Fiber One cereal and an apple. I at at 6:00 a.m. and by 8:30 I was hungry....
so I ate the following:
1 Atkins Protein Drink
at 10:30 I ate:
1 bag of wheat thins (small bag)
then ....1 bag of Keebler cookies with chocolate
then ....6 small tootsie rolls
Lunch 12:00
A plate of cantelope, red grapes, watermelon
1 piece of orange cake
at 2:30
A bag of baked potato chips
Dinner 6:30
1 apple
1 large portion of pasta and sauce
8:30
1 frozen fat free frozen yogurt cone (about 1/2 cup).
I could not stop eating yesterday! I haven't done this is years... and I can't figure out what set me off. My boss was gone yesterday and it was a 'good' day in work..I got a lot accomplished.....yet I felt so out of control.
This type of eating will NOT contribute to weight loss and I won't get on the scale for a couple of days now. I'm so disappointed in myself!
Can anyone shed some light on what would set a person off like this?
thanks in advance for your comments!

maybe your mind knows what you are about to do to your body--many of us went thru periods of "last meal" syndrome for lack of a better term..... and usually those last meals were not such good choices.
part of the exercise of the food diary is to show you where you need to watch and to get you thinking-as you did-what are your triggers etc...
so you are doing well-really!
do you drink water ? that helps to make you realize maybe you're not hungry! also you need protein-now as well as after wls--your choices were not filling in that respect-but setting off triggers for MORE! doe sthat make sense?
maybe some chunks or a strip of cheese with that apple..or some jerky.....
linda- even the best of us have weak days- and yesterday was one for you- but you realize that it was not what you consider a "good eating " day and you can move forward.
maybe someone else has light to shed on this for you!
pat yourself off and look to tomorrow! when is your surgery or are you not that far????
I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Okay, it's not all that bad and I had a million last suppers. It looks like you are systematically eating every two hours. YOu know that is when you are getting weaker. First, get rid of all the bad choice foods. Then, clean you up so celery, get you some bananas, oranges, apples, and other types of food that you can eat every two hours and not beat yourself up over.
Sometimes the food cravings are because you are wanting a specific types: sweet, salty, crunchy, that sort of thing, so look at what you crave and replace with the texture, sweet, etc that will match. I am always wanting crunchy and I live on celery. I eat more celery that I do anything else and I can eat a ton and not feel so bad.
Don't sweat the slips… and tomorrow is another day. Drink some water, and relax. I like to eat peanut butter with apples or celery…you might throw some in the mix.
Over all, you didn't do that bad.
Everyone before me kind of hit it on the mark, as Margo said, in different ways, very often our subconscious wants to trip us up, make us reach for that which we think we cannot live without, but you were honest about your choices and Jeanne gave you some sage wisdom about things you can learn to use as substitutes for possible cravings. One thing you will hear over and over again, our surgeons give us a tool, the rest of it is about us using that tool the way it is intended, unfortunately, they have not devised a way to implant the tool and make the brain work with the tool as directed at all times (lol). . . keep at it, you will probably find you have more good days than not and that we simply start over with a new and renewed drive to conquer this disease called obesity!

Get rid of the bad stuff, Fill your cupboards and fridge with only good stuff, especially protein like cheese sticks, sliced turkey, cottage cheese etc.
Write down a weeks worth of meals and snacks and prepare them so they are easy to grab. An example: If you buy fresh veggies like carrots and celery, clean and cut them up before you put them in the fridge. Put them in individual bags for 7 days worth of snacks. If this seems overwhelming do 3 days at a time.
Always have a few choices that do not take any thought in case time gets away from you like canned tuna or canned chicken.
I get alot of my food ideas from the blogger;

You are on your way......isn't it exciting????

I am glad I kept the food diary. I met with the nutritionist and the psychologist and realized that all that snacking was anxiety driven. Now that I know that, I hope to control it better and having good snacks on hand is one way to do it.
You are all such a huge support to me. Thank you all so much.
