Hubby goes next Friday for his preop examination and is fitted for a neck brace to keep his head back after surgery.  Then, the following week, he goes in and has his first eye transplant.  This is coming at the best of times for us.  Below is our conversation as we were leaving the house:

Me:  What a beautiful day.

DH:  It's so cloudy.

Me: Nope, the sun is out and bright.

DH:  It's not overcast?

Me: nope

DH:  Where's the car!

Me: You don't see the car?

DH: Nope.

Me: Are you messing with me?

Dh: ****

I walk over and move him out of the bush he had just walked into

Me: Guess you're not messing.

I can go back from being his seeing eye ***** to just his *****

Jeannie, yes indeed, it is a bright and beautiful day! What wonderful news for you and Kenny.  We'll keep our fingers crossed that nothing happens to delay things this time.

 Try and stop me!

Is it just a matter of waiting for a donor, or do you have an idea how long he has to wait?

The eye is in the donor who is on life support.  He will be taken off Friday…DH gets the eye on the Thursday after.   Then we go through waiting for another eye but only after we know this one is a take.
