Update on my Ticker. . .

For those not in the know, I did a post on Facebook last night, but I know I am not connected with some of you there, anyway. . . what I have is Mitral Valve disease, one chamber of my heart is slightly enlarged due to it, but nothing to be concerned about according to the doctor, just warrants monitoring via echo cardigrams every so many years, where it differs from Mitral Valve Prolapse, is that one is born with that, as opposed to my developing it. It is more common that one knows (heart murmur) and what I do know is that I aced my stress test, amazing what 5 years can do to change a life, that my heart is working as it should be and that I need to take lipitor to keep my cholesterol in check and monitor my liver via bloodwork, oh joy, more bloodwork (lol). . . anyway, back to the disease, I need monitor it via echo cardiograms every 3 to 5 years to make sure it is not developing into something, as there are things that can be done if caught before it becomes life threatening and that in many cases nothing is ever needed beyond monitoring. He told me where my numbers should be for my cardio workouts, which is good, because I've always been confused with that. . . so all in all, I'm good to go. . .

Monday I go for an ultrasound of my right boobage, which I truly believe will prove to be nothing, but being proactive about our health is a good thing. I will be, based on conversation with nutritionist at my support group last night, be making an appointment with gastro (my surgeon) to check out my innards to be sure all is right, now that heart is ruled to be ok, want to be sure nothing is going on with my rerouted innards that would be the cause of the pain I experience. I also am having issues with left knee, extremely painful when doing steps, as I experienced a stars sensation walking down them in the parking garage on Monday morning. Guess this aging body is requiring some TLC, but otherwise, truly, I AM GOOD!!!

Thanks for listening and being supportive, Laureen

Hugs Laureen!
You are my hero girl, good for following up on your wellness program for you. Preventive health is important to all of us that have had our innards rearranged.

My pain is from adhesion's and I will always have to deal with it. I now have to push myself to exercise.

I'm joining our Weight loss challenge contest at work, we have to have a team of 5 and we got it. Starts in March so maybe that will kick my butt into walking daily. Hugs Debbie

Hi Laureen,

Very responsible to deal health maintenance.

I know the forum talked about colonoscopies yesterday. I had the Echo and stress test for the pro-op requirements for WLS. I was a bit terrified but knew it was something I had no choice in if I want the WLS. I want nothing more than that WLS.

I feel so good after i complete a test of somekind for my health and it turns out negative. It's the scheduling and days up to the test that are so scary for me.

Good Luck on the ultrasound. I am praying for your continued good health.

Knee issues are hard. I had an MRI on my knee and it's bone on bone. I'm sure it's my weight. I get a shot of cortison in the knee every 3 months. It is my salvation.

Have a great weekend.

Best,

Sharon

 Laureen,
So glad your heart issue is not more serious, like it could be.  I just saw my cardiologist this morning.  He wants to run a stress test in three months, once my leg is fully healed.  That will give me some time to get back into shape.  I have an appointment to see him in three months, and then he will order the stress test then.  By then, I should have my new bike broken in, and be up to the cardiovascular challenge of it.  Last time, I had a stress test, I weighed 300+ pounds, as it was a year and a half before my surgery.

Keep up the good work on keeping your body healthy.

Hugs,
Trish

Hello Laureen,

Thank you so much for giving us an update on your condition. I am glad the heart wasn't anything worse, although that is bad enough. I will continue to pray that all other tests results are good news as well. Hope they find out what is causing your pain.

I too keep close tabs on what is going on with my heath and am glad you are too.

Love and hugs to you....connie d
