Saturday...What's Happening and What's for Breakfast
I was wondering what is your favorite breakfast and what do you eat most often... that is good for you. I need new ideas.
I usually fix egg white omlet with sliced mushrooms,onions,mini-peppers,sometimes left over vege from previous night and whatever looks good that day.like tomatoes etc. I put in all kinds of different seasonings, sometimes Italian and sometimes Indian. I also throw in a little crumbled Feta or Blue cheese and then pour in egg substitute.[I go to Aldi's and buy about 8 cartons of them., $1.89 ]Makes big platefull. and I read my newspaper, drink my coffee and I am ready for the day. If I think it will be tight on time in the morning, I have sliced it all up and put it in a baggie and then I just have to cook it up. Oh, yes I forgot the Turkey bacon. If you slice right across the top on the bacon pack, that is about one slice. This is lots of satisfying food and low calorie.
What do you make?
I have a grandson's basketball this morning and showing houses this afternoon.
Too nasty to go out last night so we stayed in and rented a movie, I fell asleep and missed the end," Ides of March."DH woke me up and put me to bed.I think it was the glass of wine and the fire in the fireplace...too much.
What's happening with you today? M

My favorite breakfast, which I need to buy the fixings for, is a one egg omelette with peppers, onions, mushrooms and swiss cheese. Usually, there are more of the fixings in it, than egg. The egg is just to hold them altogether.
It is snowing here in the Philadelphia area. Nothing major is expected. It's melting when it hits the ground, yet. They say possibly one or two inches. Then, it's supposed to freeze over.
The nurse was here yesterday. She is my regular nurse, and had not been here in ten days due to days off and other things. She saw that one of the wounds is almost completely healed. The larger one is well on its way to healing. There is still a bit of dead tissue, which the doctor will take care of Monday morning.
Today is a lazy day. I am just hanging out, keeping the leg elevated. I do have a tiny bit of tidying to do. My landlord is coming over this weekend to do some minor repairs.
I hope everyone has a great day. Prayers and blessings to all.
Hugs,

Morning OFF family!
Well we have about 3-4 inches of snow but hard to really tell with the blowing and drifting...but it IS cold out there!!! 11* right now!!! BRRRRRRRRRRRRR Rick has been out since 6:30 am cleaning it up. Our maintenance guy is a no show. Rick said he called him but far as I know he isn't here yet. I told Rick that IF he shows up....send him back home!! I am writing him up!! He has been told several times IF IT SNOWS AND IT NEEDS CLEANING...BE HERE!!!!!!! Every time its snowed on the weekend, I have had to call him in. This is it! I wrote him up. Yes I am HBIC and showing my colors today for him.
Loving my new flooring in the kitchen and entrance way. Its a pretty Oak color. Just wish my cupboards were in a better shape than they are. Might have to see what we can do with them. New stove and refrigerator and now floor and the cupboards look like crap!!
Thinking of moving furniture around today. Just not right looking in here. Have to think how I want to move things around.
So that is about it in my world. Just busy doing recerts and the time flies...some days it feels like I didn't do anything time goes so fast! But I know I did things because the piles are going down!! LOL
Thoughts and Prayers for all that need them!!
HUGS
It's cold here this morning (well, cold for us), but the sun is shining and it looks like a gorgeous day! Don't know if I could live up north and deal with all the snow and ice. I really admire you gals who manage it.
Date night was very nice last night! Even if Hubby did forget to buy me a card. You should have seen his face when I pulled his card out of my purse at the restaurant. It was the classic "deer in the headlights" look! He thought he might be in big trouble, but I just shrugged it off and told him it was okay. So then he made me put his card back up, and promised we would open them today, after he has a chance to go buy one.
Anyway, we shared a very nice meal at Logans. We both had the filet and lobster tail, and then we shared sides. He got the salad and the baked sweet potato. I got the steamed brocolli and for "dessert" the cinnamon apples. I ate about 1/2 of my lobster tail and a few bites of my steak. But we brought the rest of it home, so that's good for today.
We went to see Safe House with Denzel Washington. It was a pretty intense movie. A bit more graphic violence than I'm comfortable with, but Hubby won't go see chick flicks with me. Lots of plot twists and turns and two very hunky male stars to look at. It was an enjoyable experience, and I just hide my eyes during the violent parts!
Marti, I pulled up a recipe for GF hamburger buns yesterday and I'm going to try them today. If they're good (they got 5 star ratings), I'll post the recipe. Also found a recipe for a "featherlight GF bake mix" by the same lady. You make it up in bulk and store it in your pantry. I'm going to make that up and then use some of it for the hamburger buns. I'll post that recipe, too.
So, today is hubby's last full day home. I'm going to get him to help me rearrange the furniture in this office. The carpet cleaning folks PROMISE that they are coming next week. The tile floor guy called and left a message on my machine, so I need to call him back and get that job scheduled too.
Then I can finally call my WL doctor i Houston and get my 1 year checkup scheduled. Feb 22nd is right around the corner. I had really hoped to have lost 100 pounds by now, but I'm not quite there. It's okay. I feel good and everyone tells me I look good. I'm trying not to obsess about the number on the scale.
Oh, and for breakfast, I eat a wide variety of things. Sometimes I have yogurt, fruit and cereal. Sometimes I have scrambled egg with cheese. Sometimes I have poached egg and grits. Sometimes I have oatmeal. It just changes daily. This morning we're having steak and eggs (leftover bits of filet, sliced thin and reheated in a skillet with a little dab of butter).
Happy Saturday to you all!
Breakfast use to be my favorite meal--before wls. Now, eggs are a little too dense. My favorite breakfast since wls is fruit and cottage cheese. On Friday night, I make a little sauce with red wine and butter--I use a good red wine--and when it cooks down, I throw in some cut up fresh fruit and let it heat up the fruit…then I put it all in a bowl and refrig. Saturday morning, when hubby eats his eggs, sausage, biscuits, and gravy, I eat my wine sauce, fruit, and cottage cheese.
We have the grands, so we are taking them to a movie. Granddad and Mathew are watching a space three D movie and sissy and I are going for some tamer movie. We haven't picked it yet, but I'm sure it will have a princess and maybe a fairy in it.
I have a message from my PCP: when I was in his office for my B-12, he gave me the results of my lab but one of the tests he didn't have the results, so he called to tell me he was changing my thyroid med. It is sunny but cold hope you all stay warm
As Vicki said it's cold here in Texas. Since I've lost the weight I'm become very sensitive to cold. I'm sleeping with wool socks and a scarf around my neck these days in flannel sheets with a flannel nightgown and down comfortor. What am I going to do when I go back to Maine in early May!
My favorite breakfast is a toss up between two things these days. Breakfast one is a microwave omelet. One egg, slurp of skim milk whip with blender wand. Add salsa and cheese, sometimes a meat. Nuke for three minutes in 1.5 minutes increments. Yum. On days that I have yoga at 6:30 am I make my special yogurt breakfast. 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt, 1/2 tsp vanilla paste, 1/2 cup of blackberries or strawberries and 6 pecan halves. Yum as well.
This past week was busy and stressful. A friend was here at the Refuge for meetings and we were able to visit with each other at dinners and lunches. Naturally I ate too much, but strangely the scale moved. This week I learned about a eel salamander that is 3 foot long and has been found here at some construction sites. Ugly little critters but interesting to learn about. On Thursday I got to transport an injured Great Horned Owl to a rehaber. Hootie apparently collided with a wire of some kind and injured it's wing. It's expected to make a full recovery and I may get to take part in the release. Beautiful animal!
Continued with my water fitness classes and yoga. Thursday I was able to have a private class and the other class members didn't show up. Good class and got some pointers on positions that won't hurt as much but still be effective workouts. I am amazed that I am able to do as much as I am when it comes to poses. Water fitness we're as a class up to 2.5 minutes per station. I am starting to really notice a difference in my arms, less flab and more muscle.
Happy to see that Nan was able to have the strength to post a hello. Keep up the fight against those tumors.
Vicki you have gotten me hooked on Words with Friends. I'm now playing with six people.
Judy and Trish- stay warm with the snow.
Well ladies, I have to go meet one of the fellow volunteers at the HQ building to let him in to install the cardboard recycling corral that he made! Have a great day and positive vibes to you all.

Hi Marti and my OFF family:
It snowed a bit here last night and everyone got frazzled. It was a bit icy driving home, and they closed the road I usually take, so one of my coworkers suggested alternative routes. It got me lost, but I eventually found my way home. Now, the snow's all melted but it's cold ... 23 degrees. Brrr ... I didn't want to get out of bed this morning.
As for breakfast, I'm a lazy breakfast person. I can't start without coffee ... so I add a scoop of protein with a little milk, then add in the coffee. It's a breakfast latte. Sometimes I'll have a coffee shake instead ... but right now it's too cold for that.
Not much else happening. Body is hurting ... at least back is. Yesterday I took a vicodin before work and that calmed the pain so I could work. I might have to do that again. The damp and cold weather is bothering me.
Well, have a good day.
Your breakfast sounds good Marti. I usually have a yogurt and some kind of fruit or string cheese. I am not much of a breakfast eater. Sometimes I will just have a protein drink.
Having a relaxing day. Went out the last three nights and I am so tired. I am not used to staying up late. I need to get back into the groove!!
Hope you all are enjoying your day. Prayers for those in need.
Love and hugs to all.....connie d
It's cold here in NC and getting colder, I went out and surveryed the yard and picked all of my blooming daffodils. I'm getting a little work done as I listen to the basketball games. Online shopping for protein drinks, bars and some thermal underwear.
