1 month visit today - eveything good
Dr was pleased with my progress. I asked him about protein bars and protein drinks. H e said, you're a bit early for protein bars, but when I explained that I was going to be flying to Vancouver and it's an all day trip, he said I understand. He recommended Zone, said they were good, and to eat 1/4 at the time. OK ladies, please weigh in on this. As for protein drinks, I will be mixing them with water, the planes don't carry skim, soy or low fat milk. What do you recommend?
I asked him about a goal weight and he smiled and said, I don't want to give you a final goal, it put too much pressure on you, and you lose your focus on learning to eat right. He said, your goal for your next visit (which is 2 months and 3 weeks before the could get me in) is to be less than 185. That's 25 pounds, so I think it's doable. He did say, you've lost 25% of your excess body weight. So I did some numbers and it looks like he is shooting for about 136-140. I'm 5'5'', is that about right?
Have a great night and sleep well my OFF sistas.

Congratulations on your progress so far. You are doing great.
I have no suggestions on the protein drinks with water, because I use Anywhey, and I only mix it with milk. Can you get milk at a food vendor in the airport after you go through security? I know Philadelphia Internatioal has all sorts of vendors near the gates. Might have to settle for low-fat milk, but that also gives you more protein in your drink.
Good luck.
Hugs,
Trish

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

I've been lurking for a long time and finally have something to add.
I have been using Unjury protein powders. They do come in individual packets if necessary, and there are two flavors which one can mix with water. One is strawberry sorbet and the other is chicken soup which you will want to mix with warm/ho****er. I like the strawberry flavor mix with Crystal Lite lemonade. I like the chicken soup one even more. Sorta get tired of the sweet drinks--personal preferences! I buy this protein online; it was suggested by the dietician.
Bon voyage!

Hi Linda:
If you're traveling, then the Muscle Milk Light shake is a great choice. It comes in convenient 7-0z containers that have 150 calories, 20 g. protein, 9 g carbs and only 3 g sugar. At Cosco you can get 24 for around $28.
As for protein bars: they are very tricky. The only one that is halfway acceptable to my nutritionist is the Pure Protein 20 g protein bar (They have a bigger bar, but it has too many calories). It's sold at Target and Walmart for around $6 per box of six bars. It has 200 calories, but very little sugar and 17 g carbs, and comes in a variety of flavors. The other bars, including Zone, are little more than ill-disguised candy bars.
Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip!
Ciao,
Maria

Thanks, but I can't carry any liquid through security. I did travel when I was on the pre-op diet with my OptiFast. Clearing security at the local airport was OK. But, Salt Lake City gave me a difficult time. I finally had to show them on the box where it said to be used under medical supervision only. I will have to carry single serving protein mix or protein bars on the plane and thru security. It's a business trip and I take several of these monthly.
Thanks for your input on the protein bars.
Linda
