Thought you might be interested in the definition of addiction......  Food sure fits in here....  especially the last sentence....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Historically, addiction has been defined as physical and psychological dependence on psychoactive substances (for example alcohol,tobaccoheroin, caffeine and other drugs) which cross the blood-brain barrier once ingested, temporarily altering the chemical milieu of the brain.
Addiction can also be viewed as a continued involvement with a substance or activity despite the negative consequences associated with it. Pleasure, enjoyment or relief from actual or perceived ailments would have originally been sought; however, over a period of time involvement with the substance or activity is needed to feel normal.[1] Some psychology professionals and many laypeople now mean 'addiction' to include abnormal psychological dependency on such things as gamblingvideo gamesfoodsex*****graphycomputers,internetworkexerciseadrenalineidolizing, watching TV or certain types of non-*****graphic videos, spiritual obsession, self-injury and shopping.[2][3][4][5]
The American Society of Addiction Medicine begins their definition of addiction by describing it as "a primary, chronic disease of brain reward, motivation, memory and related circuitry."[6
I agree. How many times have I opened a pkg. of cookies planning on having just one and in no time the pkg. is empty?
I am addicted to sugar, carbs, and fat. The more I eat, the more I need!
Oh yeah, I know it is ... chocolate ... sugar ... salty thing, carbs. I can say I'm going to be good and just have one or two, and I eat more than I should. Even the 100-cal. snack packs, I had to ban those things because I was eating 3 or 4 bags of them. Not good.
After my band, my taste for chocolate changed. That is still the case. It tastes like dust to me. Chocolate candy that is. I still like my FF Nestle Hot Chocolate every morning, only 20 calories. So chocolate candy no longer tempts me. But, sugar, fat, carbs...bring 'em on!
Oh Hell yes...for me sugar is addictive, I try to stay away from it and over and over again I have to "detox" my body so I won't crave the crap!
