Sunday Jan. 8th - Good Morning
Hi Pat and my OFF family:
Sunny but chilly here in Evansville ... football game just started. I plan to stay home and watch football and unpack. Nothing much. I slept well ... lounged in bed til 11:30 a.m. cuddling with Juliette. Bed is so nice. I have been sleeping very well lately.
Work was OK last night; learned a few new things, taught some coworkers some things about InDesign they didn't know, too. This version is a little screwy ... like how they jump stories ... so many steps! And then it didn't work anyway. Oh well, just another glitch in the system. Every system has its problems. ... this one had one guy muttering last night. I'm sure I'll be swearing at it soon, too.
Pat, glad to hear about your weight loss ... wow, nearly 11 pounds. That's awesome ... I think I found yours.
I want to see War Horse too, but will have to wait until there's more money.
Well, not much else going on. Have a good day.
iSN'T IT GREAT TO FINALLY GET SOME "GOOD REST" AGAIN?? Sorry about the caps...didn't know they were on...lol Since I quit working my last job all the pain I was in miraclessly (not sure how to spell that word darn it..lol) went away!!! Like several people told me that job was "killing" me!!! No more knives in my back and now the back feels soooo good!!!!!!! The rest of my aches and pains are also gone...ahhhhhhhhhh ;-) Life is good once again!!! Hopefully this is what is happening to you also Eileen!!!! I pray it is!!!!
Read WAR HORSE today...no tears reading but I am sure watching it the tears will fall....took me about 3 hours to read the book. Very interesting to me.
HUGS
I would like to read "War Horse", before I see it at the movies. Years ago, my DIL gave me a book to read on the plane when I was travelling. It was "The Notebook". I was trying not to let people see me sobbing on the plane!!
I always like to read a book first. Movies are never as good as the books, but I am compelled to watch them anyway.
Bringing up the rear today. Chris and Benny are still here. They were supposed to leave this morning, but Chris came dragging home from Shreveport around 8 a.m., announced she hadn't slept all night, and promptly went to bed. SO. I guess that means they are here for another night since it's already 3:30 p.m., and I haven't heard a peep out of her.
Benny is up from his nap, but I can hear him happily babbling to himself in his crib, so I'm not going to get him up yet. Another few precious minutes to myself. You can relate to that, eh, Connie?
I'm cooking a new lentil soup for supper. If it turns out, I'll post the recipe. Really good protein and low calorie stats. We'll see how it tastes. Lentils are not my usual legume.
Talked to my sweet husband for awhile this morning. This extra long hitch is really dragging on both of us! I'm ready for him to come home!
The only book/movie combo that I ever read/saw where the book was better than the movie was Dances with Wolves. The novel was definitely on the short side. The movie was wonderful. Oh! And I just thought of one more: The Quiet Man with John Wayne. Remember that one? The movie actually came from a short story. I love that movie. One of my all time favorites. I don't like to go to movies that make me cry. I figure I have enough drama in my life without adding more on top of it.
(I don't read scary stories or watch scary movies either. I live alone too much of the year to scare myself on purpose. It's hard enough dealing with the things that go bump in the night when Butch is gone without adding more fuel to that fire either.)
Not much other news from here today. I'm definitely in a sweats/tee shirt mode this weekend. Haven't been out of the house, except to walk to the mailbox, all weekend. Benny is starting to fuss. Guess I'd better go in and get him.
Love you all!
I was never much on scary movies, either ... got my mind to thinking too much and then I saw things at night that kept me up. I have too vivid an imagination, I guess.
Loved "The Quiet Man" ... one of my favorite movies ... "Dances with Wolves," too. That was filmed in South Dakota right around the time I moved there, and two of the guys in our office were in the movie (the publisher and the production manager). They were in the Civil War scenes. I actually saw the publisher, not the production manager. In the extended version, there was a sportswriter I knew from Pierre. And of course, if you want to see yours truly in a movie, see "The Chaos Experiment" ... jus****ch the first half hour and you'll see me walking through the Grand Rapids newsroom (and I'm in the credits, too). The movie is horrible, but I'm a great extra.
It's so good to see you so happy. This man seems much better for you than the others were-thank goodness!
I'm getting ready to go to a comedy show- it's Gabriel Iglesias. My daughter and I saw him before years ago and we loved him! We'll have a good time for sure! I got great tickets, right up in the front.
I've been cleaning floor grout all day... Once you start that process you have to finish because having clean grout anywhere near dirty grout is so OBVIOUS! My living room, dining room and kitchen is done. On another day I'll tackle the entry way, bathrooms and hall.
Back to work tomorrow- the weekend seems to fly when you work full time.
And some of you thought that you were bringing up the rear...
