She Was A ***** Too

We got the call for my husband’s eye.  The woman said, bring 1000 dollars for your deductable and you will need to bring the 20% for the clinic and the hospital.  My husband said, we have two insurances, and the secondary is picking up the costs that the primary doesn’t pay and the stupid woman said, nope, we do not take your secondary insurance.  My husband, without thinking, said, well we don’t have that much money and let me call my wife, and he called me and I called our insurance and called her back and she gave the eye to another patient.  I asked to speak to her supervisor and that ***** lied and said my husband said he didn’t want the eye.  I called our insurance back: I was devastated, and the nurse said, listen, please consider changing doctors…and she gave me another surgeon, and I called him, and my husband has an appointment for next Friday, and the new guy’s nurse said, we already have his records, and we have put him at the top of the list.  I contacted our attorney and told him what happened and he is writing a letter to the surgeon, the clinic, and the hospital that backs this guy.

Before I left work, the insurance nurse called me back and said she had called the new doctor and has been assured that DH is at the top of the AR list again and that we are back on track.  And, she said, I think you are in better hands.  I swear, I hate doctor’s office staff.  I know there are some that are very nice, but there are some, like this woman, who just are *****es.  When she said to me your insurance will not pay and I said yes they will she said I need them to send me a letter and I said they will not send a letter and she said yes and went on this raged filled yelling thing and I said, listen to me, it isn’t a letter, they send you a form for the doctor to sign that says the surgery is scheduled…you have the form.  She said, that’s what I said.  I told her supervisor that she has deficiency that goes beyond linguistic deficiency; I said, she has no people skills and refuses to listen to any thing.

So, my husband’s eye went to someone else.  But, by now someone else has had his or her vision restored.  Hopefully, DH will get his new eye really soon.

Jeannie,  I am so sorry you have to deal with all this.
It is horrible what that incompetent ***** did!!

I hope a new eye comes available soon. I know how much you both were counting on receiving that eye.

You have opened my eyes to things that can go wrong that I never would have considered. You would think that details such as insurance coverage and co-pays would be arranged as soon as you are at the top of the transplant list. The surgeon and his staff should (big "should") have the utmost professionalism when dealing with the transplant arena. But I guess that we can never trust that everyone knows what they are doing.... Sorry for this turn of events. In the end it may be for the best. Hopefully your wait will be short. Your poor huisband- he must feel so defeated just now. I'm sending him a huge virtual hug- you can have one too!

How horrible! She had no right to give the eye away (I wonder if she just wanted to do that, give it to someone she wanted instead of your hubby). It's just so unfair. I hope it gets fixed and your hubby gets his eye soon, as it should be.

I am sorry about the stress and all you both went through.    It does sound like you know how to handle that type of situation.   I hope it all fixed now and that all goes well so your DH don't have to wait too long for his eye transplant.   Good thoughts coming your way for both of you.

Sometimes things happen for a reason. I'm so sorry about all of this. I know how hard it is to have the rug yanked out from under you. Trying to see a possible positive I'm thinking that Kenny's aftercare from the new doctor and office can't help but be superior to the one you came from. Maybe a blessing in disguise. I hope that Kenny doesn't have to wait much longer. Hang in there.
