New Year's Day, 2012... What's Happening?
WE just got home from the party... it was FUN! I love to dance- with girls, with guys, with young, with old, alone... whatever. They had a great band, lots of friends, good food... it's just a wonderful way to bring in the new year. I'm just so thankful- 2011 was hard in some ways, but I feel so lucky. I have everything I need to be happy.
Tomorrow my daughter and I are going to take our three dogs to the doggie park. First I will sleep in for as long as feels good.
I hope that everything works out for the good for all of you in this coming year. I know that challenges are there for many- just hang in there and try to live fully in spite of the trials if you can. One thing that I learned from my cancer and grief is that my life does not have to be only those things. AND... the fear, sadness, and loneliness are not for forever. People do help, love does help, dancing does help... don't give up.
Happy New Year!

I am so sore and tired this morning. I spent last night at my sis-in-law's playing "Ticket to Ride" and enjoying a great meal. Came home well before midnight, because I was and still am very sore I got very sad news from my dear friend in Florida. Her cancer is back, and also her daughter, in her 20s, has stage 3 melanoma.
Today will see me keeping my leg elevated. I'm still so very sore.
I hope everyone has a blessed start to the new year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!! :-)
Well this new year is bringing us a wind advisory til midnight today along with colder temps from Canada and snow possible. Just heard 6 inches give or take for the snow belt area here. WOW!! Hope it stays away from us...LOL

All my plans for unpacking here went out the window when Rick said lets go to the mall...OK haven't checked out the mall in Mansfield yet so why not? Well not much there that sparked my interest...lol I will stick to the Meijers and Walmart type stores...LOL
Rick will be making his famous stuffed pork chops for our dinner today. Love his chops!! Just have to remember to eat S L O W L Y!!!!!!
So that is it for me today...maybe I can get more unpacked today seeing as he will be busy cooking and watching football. Hope you all have a great New Year and thoughts and prayers going out to all that need them!!!!

Well, my DH and I were in bed by 9. Our regular time. We were invited to the New Year's Eve party our son and DIL went to. All of the friends and neighbors. But partying is NOT our scene. My DH is getting so hard of hearing I hate to go out in public with him. If you want to tell him something you are also telling the entire room!! Of course, he can't see it, and wouldn't do anything about it if he did acknowledge it!
Today is just more sewing for me. I'll put these nursing covers on Lejuene yard sales tomorrow and see if anyone is interested. If they are, I will make a few more. But I also have an afghan to work on!
Not sure if I will see anyone for BLTs this morning (or early afternoon). I'll just play that by ear.
I hope everyone had a safe New Year's Eve. Here's to a better 2012 for all of us. Better in health, relationships, weight, patience, work and love, among other things.
Have a fantabulous day!
Happy New Year Everyone.
Today is a double celebration for me because it is my birthday as well. I am now on the down side of my fifties at 57 and I feel so much younger than I did when I was 47 or even 37…that's funny.
DH and I set up and watched the ball drop. My sweetie came home yesterday and said, "I'm gonna make you a birthday supper tonight and tomorrow I'm gonna cook all your meals." You guys do remember me telling you he cannot even boil water? So, I smile and he says, what do you want seafood or steak and I said, seafood. Then, I started thinking about the cost of seafood and I went in to the kitchen and he had the vegetables sitting on the counter, the pots and pans on the stove, the fish and shrimp…well, you don't even want to know. I said, you know, fish and shrimp go bad really quickly, so you may want to put that in the refrig or on ice…he said, oh yeah. Then he said, I need some direction and I said, move over, and he said, let me do it and you just tell me, so I said, slice the onion, bell peppers, and lemon and he said, okay and gets a steak knife. I finally said, here, let me help and in a matter of a few minutes, had the vegetables cooking, the sweet potato cut thin and cooking in a shallow pan, and then got the rest of the food in the pan. He had good intentions. But the man cannot multi task and as all you cooks out there know, cooking is multitasking. So, we had Maui Maui cooked with peppers, onions, and lemon slices, boiled then browned shrimp, and mashed sweet potatoes with lemon zest, butter, and a dash of cream.
I notice he has put a cake mix up in the cabinet and think he thinks he may bake me a cake; even though, he knows that I won't eat it. We are actually celebrating my birthday next weekend because the kids are all going to be here and I promised them that for my birthday, they would all get a nice gift. So, we'll be getting on that.
For dinner we are having our black eye peas and hog jawl and greens. And, today, I am doing a heavy duty facial. I have an appointment to get my hair cut next week and my hair lady also does my brows and does a steam thing on my face and I try to do a really good facial a day or two before…kind of like cleaning the house before the maid comes over. I know, I'm crazy.
Well, here's to all of you a happy and prosperous New Year and I hope you all find your place on your weight loss journey and the pounds start dropping.
