Hello, my dear friends!

Well, Gary's home, no cardiac issues, in fact he's as healthy as a horse. They thought it might be acid reflux, so they put him on Prilosec for a few days. As they were taking out the IV tubes and tearing his hair out with the EKG leads, he said "you know, I had 8-9 cups of coffee yesterday" DUHHHHHHH

There ya go

Now, the latest on me, just in case you're wondering, the saga continues. When the surgical oncologist prescribed Tamoxifen as a preventative measure against breast cancer, I went to get it filled, only to have the Pharmacist tell me that there is a drug interaction with it and my antidepressants. He had faxed a report to her that day, but had not heard from her. Apparently, the Tamoxifen loses it's efficiency when taken with certain antidepressants. He told me to take them anyway, and she would probably up the dosage after reading the report. I sent her an e-mail that evening requesting she make sure to check her fax machine for the Rx report.

On Monday afternoon when I hadn't heard anything, I called the pharmacy, and sure enough, they hadn't heard from her. I called her nurse's phone number and left a message to please advise the pharmacy/me on what to do. About two hours later, she called me.

Here's the gist of the conversation:

Her:  you don't ;have cancer, this is just a risk reducing measure and it is entirely up to you whether or not you take the Tamoxifen.
Me:  the pharmacist said you could up the dosage to make up for the loss of effectiveness caused by the antidepressants
Her: no, I won't do that
Me:  Ok, I'll talk to my PCP and have him change my meds
Her: no, we'll just follow you as high risk and if something comes up, we'll deal with it.
Me: well, maybe I can just go off the antidepressants since not getting cancer is more important to me than the bit of depression I deal with
Her: I'd rather you stayed on the meds and we'll jus****ch you closely

Guess who's getting fired????
Seeing my PCP tomorrow, and I have a consult with another oncologist. If this wasn't so stinking frustrating it would almost be funny!

Happy Holidays!

Glad Garry is OK, what a scare.
Frustrated to the NINES that you are going through this bungy cord medication and cancer issue. Just horrible.

Had my mammo last week. Got a call today that the radiologist wants more view of my right girl. Haven't told hubby. Chewing on the call and trying not to OCD about what they want more views of.

Monica,

You know I had the same thing happen, if you go for regular check-ups, have faith that whatever it is, it's nothing to be overly concerned about.  Though of course that is easier said than done, now isn't.. .  just know the power in prayer and we will all be praying. . .

Hugs, Laureen

Susan....good news that Gary doesn't have cardiac problems. Still scary as to what else it could be.

As for you.....I am glad you are standing your ground and firing the dumb ass!!  I would report her to the medical board.

You don't need to have to deal with anymore crap!!

Still keeping you and Gary in my prayers.

Love you....HUGS....connie d

Glad Gary is okay. What was he thinking? 8 or 9 cups of coffee would give anyone chest pains.

As for that nurse. You should call her back and ask her if she would be comfortable telling her mother or daughter the same thing she told you. And how would she feel if she was in the same situation? Sorry you are having to go through all this. Prayers to you.   Mag
