Exercise is like eating a prune...it's not fun but it works.

Yoga went well.  I have to tell you that my friend was right on about me liking yoga.  She said that everyone starts out thinking it is dumb and difficult but after a week or so, they all begin to love it.  I love it because it is simply stretching and holding and my back and legs feel so damn good.  This weekend, I’m going to start doing some moves that are a little more challenging.  I’m still doing beginners.

Today is our University’s official dead day.  I could stay home but since there will be no students and few faculty in my building, I am going to go in and get some much needed work done.  The gym is going to be open but my trainer is taking today and Monday off.  Soooo, I’m going to walk/run and maybe do some weights and that’s about it.

Here’s my missive about exercise:  I hate it.  I really do hate planned exercise because it is unnatural.  It is unnatural to walk/run five freakin’ miles and go nowhere or to lift weights over and over and move nothing real…well other than the muscle.  Dancing is the only real thing because you do actually accomplish moving in synch with music unless you are me and you stay one beat off.  But, I also don’t like getting my blood drawn and I hate taking my medicines and there is no way I see the point in giving my students exams.  So, there are a lot of activities that I do that do not really seem purposeful.  So, I do the exercise and am happy afterwards and all is well.   Yesterday, I told my student worker that I am a food addict.  He said, oh…wow…that’s harsh.  I said, yeah it is…are you gonna eat that apple.  He said, nope, you want it.  I said, yes but I just told you I’m an addict.  If you were an addict and I had the drug you were addicted to, would you want me to give it to you…he said, depends upon the drug.  Geeeze…these kids today.

Yoga sounds relaxing. Rather like a cat stretching after a nap.

I'll fess up --- the past couple of weeks all I have done is walk the dog. More of a gentle stroll. Getting out of bed has been enough of a challenge.

time for a kick in the butt and stop having this pity party.

Thanks for your daily input Jeannie.

Yoga is wonderful, I need to get with it and do it, the stretching will definitely help my back and I am all for feeling good,

Like you I don't love to exercise, but I am more accepting of it and trying to convince myself to liking it (lol), some days are better than others, but what I can say is that when I wasn't doing it, I felt like something was missing and something had happened to me that I never thought would, I wanted to exercise, so this is a good thing.  My stint working in the Food Bank Warehouse on Wednesday gave me a minor setback within my back is aching again, so I'm taking it easy for a the next couple of days, but I will have the car packed and be out the door at 5:15 Monday morning to do what I know I need in order to achieve and create the sense of well being I need to, which offsets the need to feed myself more than what is considered fuel.

Hugs, Have a great day. . .

Meanwhile, do just a few simple stretches.  I like to do the neck and arms.  They help me keep that neck from tensing up.  YOu and I are a lot alike…we hate it but we know we have to have it.  I wish we lived in the same town; we could hook up and do some great things.

Yoga is fun....I am glad you are able do it.

I spent the whole day in bed. I had the flu and it is horrible!
This is my  first time out of bed except for all those awful bathroom trips. I have never felt so sick in my life and to think I had the flu shotin October!!

Connie,

Make sure you drinks lots of fluids…but you know that.  Take a water bottle and keep by your bed.

It was 8 last night before I  could keep an ounce of water down. I couldn't drink enough to even get a couple pills down.
This morning I feel very week but not quite so sick. I will definitely work on water and maybe a Boost later. I need to get some protein in too. Mostly my focus is jus****er.

Thanks for caring...HUGS....connie d

Hey there my Sweet Tater friend,

Yesterday was quite a day for me, indeed. After the relief of not having cancer, I realized there is no longer an excuse for me to hang onto these 10 lbs "incase I need it". So, shrimp ****ail for dinner and then on to the gym with Gary.

I did something new. Instead of just walking on the treadmil for a very boring 45 minutes, I walked, but about every 5 minutes I'd change the elevation on it. All the way up to the highest incline, back down to almost the lowest, and then back up again. Really got my heart rate up and worked the devil out of my thighs and butt. I actually enjoyed the challenge of keeping my speed up while walking up hill.....go figure!
