I know you want to exercise: Today, just today, do it. Do some toe touches or arm lifts.

I spent the first forty minutes that I was awake doing yoga.  I have to tell you, I’m really developing a love for it.  I started out thinking how nuts I was for doing it and when my friend gave me the yoga mat, I kept thinking what I could use the mat for besides yoga. HEHE. But, with Yoga, you don’t really have to spend your time moving from one difficult pose to another.  I have about six or so stretches that I do and most of those are for my neck and back.  It’s the stretching…just very slowly and gently moving a muscle and then stretching it and holding the stretch.  The goal is to maintain the flex or stretch so that the muscle can strengthen and firm up.  Plus, it relaxes all those muscles and in the end, it does make for some pain relief. 

 

Then, of course, I will be walking all over the mall here and probably all over the mall in Rogers, which is an outside mall that is huge.  So, yep, lots of walking there too.  And, finally, this evening is my fox-trotting with my gay boyfriend.  So, today will be loaded with lots of activities.  I just hope I can get through the shopping part without cussing someone…you know how that goes.

So, how are you moving today?  Are you planning to exercise or are you going to spend the day shopping or house cleaning.   You know what I know from  years of this wls mess: we all want to exercise.  None of us thinks that we are going to have surgery and magically get thin.  We all say, as we lose weight and start feeling better and have less weight to impact our joints that we are going to exercise and we want to.  But, for some of us, or some of you, the desire to exercise is never enough to motivate you to get a plan.  What motivated you to have wls?  Was it to look better, feel better, live longer?  Let that same motivation get you to a place where you will say, I know cleaning my house isn't enough exercise. I now I need to do some walking that will challenge my cardiovascular system.  Today, find your mojo and get started.

Today I plan on doing some weights, the lighter ones. I did some stretching this morning. That is it for me.

My plans are full of exercise too Jeanne. Decorating the tree for a few hours, then a party at 4:00- with some dancing, and at 8:00 a concert by my favorite hometown band- lots of Beatles, Rolling Stones- and a dance fest. I will definitely get my share of exercise today! Hi to your husband and dance husband!
