What's new on TGIF?
Hubby is up and making sausage gravy and homemade biscuits this morning. I am trying hard to be a good girl here this week, but all these breakfasts are hard to resist! I had half an apple, greek yogurt and cheerios instead. Very good for me, but not nearly as aromatic as hubby's sausage gravy!
Today is my mom's 82nd birthday. We are taking her out to dinner tonight. So I have that to look forward to today! I bought her a piece of jewelry when we were in Canada--polished pearlized stone from the glacier pieced together to form a maple leaf. I also got her some of that gaudy junk jewelry she loves so much. A big ol' silver necklace with lots of baubles on it. She'll love that piece more than the real one, but that's okay.
Chris and Benny are still with us, of course. Think today she is FINALLY supposed to meet with the insurance adjuster and hopefully he'll authorize the repairs to her car. Of course, it IS nice that they are here for Mom's birthday. That will make her day even more special.
Hubby is meeting some cousin of his out at the farm this morning to discuss clearing the trees and doing the dirt work for the base for the new storage building. I am not going along today. Instead I'm cleaning house a bit, finishing up mailing the bills, and doing a bit of shopping today. Already got the laundry finished, thank goodness! Just heard the dryer click off.
So, happy happy Friday to all! Hope we hear from Judy soon. Hope her big move went okay. Also hope Eileen has a fantastic interview today and they offer her the job!!
Love you all!
I just have a few minutes before I head out to my sub job as a bilingual aide in a classroom. I'll smile pretty and use my limited Spanish vocab. What was I thinking about when I minored in FRENCH 40 some years ago? Haven't had much chance to use that and could have really had some great jobs were I fluent in Spanish. Our permanent Hispanic population in this area is about 25% and in some areas much higher. French and Spanish have a lot in common but I usually just mess up both languages! This will be my 3rd day of work this week which is just about right.
It's been a busy week. I've had 3 doctor's appts trying to resolve my lack of sleep and anxiety issues. Trying a couple of new meds to me: a generic form of celexa for anxiety and a generic form of ambien to help me sleep. My generic Mirapex for restless legs was doubled after my sleep study. I haven't started the celexa yet. Thought I'd wait til the weekend. It's a very low dose and supposed to be 4-6 weeks before I notice much. I don't like taking meds and was so proud of being off of bp and cholesterol since WLS, but I'm willing to give them a try.
Better get dressed and out the door. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi Caroline and my OFF family:
I'm here in Evansville ... feeling a little better after getting sleep and food and coffee. Yesterday was a long day. Got into Evansville at 5, legs all swollen, tired, hungry ... then I spent most of the evening at the newspaper, observing, editing a bit, proofing some pages (geez, I was working!). They ordered pizza in my honor ... not much to eat ... I was there til 11:30 ... I was so tired I couldn't sleep til nearly 3, plus I had the typical swollen legs from the flight. They've gone down considerably over night. I'm at the hotel computer now; don't go back to the paper til 2:30 when one of the editors is taking me out to a late lunch.
So far, I think things are going well. I had to edit one story and write a headline; the headline made it in the paper, so that was good. I caught a bunch of stuff in proofs, showed one of the editors how to use a tool in the pagination program ... one of the copy editors is a guy in his 40s just moving over to the desk and is a bit lost ... an intern was showing him how to do stuff.
Anyway, people seem nice, friendly, different from Monroe entirely. I hope I learn more before I go home Saturday. Glad I have it off so I can rest up.
Have a good day. Caroline, you are sweet to be nice to this girl having your great-grandbaby. I have a feeling she needs someone like you to guide her.
Carolyn....you are doing the right thing accepting that baby and it's mother. It sounds like she needs a lot of understanding and caring. I can't think of anyone better then you to give her that. God Bless!!!
As for me....I am here and putting one foot in front of the other. Doing what I need to do. I don't think I can do it much longer. I plan on talking with my daughter this weekend. IF she has time!!!
Nic just took my car to MN. It is newer and he is having problems with an oil leak in his truck. Nic has an appointment up there on Saturday to tour the college campus. He is checking out several colleges to see who has the best program for him.
Sorry I haven't been around much. I check the threads but most time don't have energy to post. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
Love and many hugs to all of you......connie d
