Hi Everyone, it is going to be cold and snowy tomorrow. That's okay because I am staying in this  weekend. My inlaw brother is having thanksgiving. He runs a local restaurant here. His cooking is a little funky. Oh well. What does everyone have planned for thanksgiving? I am making my yogurt pie with SF Jello and yogurt. Have a great weekend everyone. Mona

Good morning all!

Just a quick pop-in to say hi this morning.  Big travel day for me.  Time to pack everything up, clean the lakehouse, and head for home.  Chris and the baby are travelling with us, caravan-style, which is a relief to me.  They'll stay for 10 days, so we'll have a nice long visit together.  Hubby writes that he is losing all satellite communications on the rig today, so I won't hear from him now until he gets off the rig--whenever the hell that might be.  Probably be home next Tuesday or Wednesday, if we're lucky.

Hope you all have a great weekend!  Love you all!

Morning Nancy and Friends,

You know I love when you post, like Monica said, you paint pictures of what is going on in your life, like our missing Hawiian sistah with her words telling us about the world from her lani. . .  anyway, I just want to say that I love your positivity, as well as Nan's (and there have been others), it is so encouraging to see so many face such challenges with the kind of posititive attitude and makes such a difference when facing challenges.  Anyway, I just wanted to say you made me hungry (lol). . .  have a great day!!!

Yay, it's Friday, though I am tired because I stayed up late to watch my team get beat by Denver and because this week has been full of activity and even so, I will go to my son's tonight to see my grandchildren as well as my son, he wants my yams recipe, so sad, I can give him the ingredients, but there is no recipe, as I just pour and cook (lol), but it will be nice to see them, as it will probably be my last opportunity to see them before I leave to spend the Thanksgiving holiday in Florida with my daughters and the 2 older granchildren that live there on Tuesday after work. . .

So for those of you who like gadgets, but not big price tags, I got my Kindle Fire on Wednesday and so far I LOVE IT. . .  at a cost of only $199 which is $300 less than the cheapest IPad and cheaper than the other tablets, it is giving me what I need, connection to email accounts, game apps, other apps, facebook, reading books and there are lots of classic free ones to use, and because of the Amazon Prime membership that I already subscribe to, which costs $79 a year and includes free 2-day shipping on most things ordered from Amazon and all sorts of movie and television programming that you can watch for free, it works for my budget and since what it can't do, my android cell phone can do, I am thrilled with it.  It only has 8 gig onboard storage, but you can keep content in their cloud and can upload and download as you want things, just saying I think and so does one of the attorney's here in my office, who also got one, that it is a good alternative to those who want to be connected without the bigger price tag. . .

Enjoy your day, wishing you all the peace and strength needed to face life's greater challenges!

Hugs, Laureen

Laureen,

I bought my daughter the Kindle Fire for Christmas.  I got an Ipad a few months back, and she fell in love with it.  I cannot afford to buy her an Ipad, but I did get her the Kindle.  It is going to be hard for me not to give it to her before christmas.

I love my Ipad and would have gotten the fire if it had been out when I got mine.  I have used my friends kindle and another firend has another brand and they all do what they are supposed to do, download books.  I love having a library at my fingertips all the time.

I'm glad you are loving yours.

Hi Nancy and my OFF family:

Well, I have my date and flight info for my interview in Indiana. I'm very excited and hopeful about this job. Of course, I was the same way about this one, and look how this turned out. My friend Mary Kay remidns me that this organization here is part of the problem; she says the chain that owns the paper in Indiana is much more solid and family-like ... it is the one that sponsors the spelling bee, by the way.

I had a nice day yesterday out shopping with cat lady friend, Patricia. Her car is giving her problems so she can't go very far. About as far as she can go is to her feed her cat colonies. So I had to go out anyway to get cat food, so I took her along. It was nice to have someone along with me. We went to CVS for my Cymbalta and a few other things (a 3-mon. supply cost me $129, so it wasn't as bad as I thought ... was expecting $150 ... still a lot of money), then out to Petco, then to Target, because Petco didn't have her cat food (she buys this giant bag of food for her colonies). I wanted to go to Target anyway, and it's just down the way from Petco, in the same shopping center. Then we picked up some food from Wendy's and came back to my place to eat. I had chili and a small Caesar salad; she had a half-size spicy Caesar salad. I didn't realize they ahd half-size salads. Anyway, it was a nice day; took her home with her purchases and felt I had done my good deed.

I am thinking of going to a movie this afternoon, "J. Edgar." My brother says it was good. I got up too early ... didn't sleep very well.  Guess I was too hyper about my future.

Have a good day.

Feeling somewhat better today -- made it to my little part time job.....supposed to go with my sis tonight to a play, but think I am going to cancel -- starting to cough and don't want to disrupt people's enjoyment around me.

Will just lay low and rest this afternoon.  Must go shopping tomorrow morning to get the turkey for Tksgng Day so it can start to thaw in the refrigerator.

Have a good weekend,
Pat R.

Good Morning Nancy and OFF Sisters,
I finally have a minute to get on the computer.

As Jo said, we met and had a lovely visit.  We only stopped talking and visiting because we both had to get back to our families.  She and I have a lot in common it turns out.

Well, I am feeling much better than I had earlier this week, both physically and emotionally.  Thank God my PA docs were so helpful on the phone this week.

I hope everyone has a great Friday.  I know I am.

Love to all, and prayers for those in need of them.

Hugs,
Trish

 Good afternoon Nancy and everyone....

Just stopping by to say hello and check in with everyone.

Got a lot on my mind. Things happening here that I am not ready to talk about yet. I feel heartsick most of the time. My depression is bad but I am managing.

So many strong people on this board. I need to get tougher.

Have a great day everyone. Prayers for those in need.

Love and hugs to all....connie d
