Frigid Friday Outside but Warm Hearts and Toes Inside-

Happy Friday, everyone! Here in Niagara, it is darned cold..close to 0celcius at night and high winds from the NW..bites right thru your clothes..at mid-November, we are fortunate so far that we’ve had no snow so I guess I’d better just suck it up and be grateful for that. I watched some black squirrels running about with cheeks full of walnuts they swiped from next door’s walnut trees and LilyRose watched from inside at the patio door and squeaked her dismay. Made sure that all my outside felines have plenty of shelter, lots of pillows and blankets to snuggle up in…..they tend to bundle together. I am healing nicely but my tight side is very tender..and, as last time, I find that my skin is extra sensitive….just brushing my arms against my breast sends horrible tingles of pain thru me…..I’m told that comes from a cut nerve that over-sensitizes the sense of touch of the skin. Last time, it took me months to get used to even silk sliding over my arm. But it becomes almost  unbearable at times..yet, months later, you adjust and barely notice it anymore.  The bizarre dreams are less and less, meaning that the anesthesia is slowly clearing from my body..this is why I refuse pain meds..I use EFT and self-hypnosis instead and, for the most part, that works. I am so blessed to have so many wonderful friends….almost daily, I get cards and emails wishing m well…I am so grateful. JB does his best to help out and still works all day outside building a trailer for Derek’s business…I take out hot chocolate and soup but he says if he stops, he just gets too cold, so I just bring it out once or twice during the day. I always make sure that I have hot soup on the stove for when he finally comes in….he takes that in a mug and goes up and soaks in a hot bath for a while to warm up. My sons are so considerate and are working hard. I have great expectations as the dating between our younger son, Derek, and his ladyfriend, Kathy is stepping up…add to that, she is taking the apartment next door in the house where Derek manages the property and where he uses their barn for his shop for the business. Kathy is a professional chef and arrives daily with deli sandwiches she makes at work for JB and Derek and often brings homemade cheese bread and  other tasty bits, like my fave ribs or homemade cabbage rolls for me *s*. Last week she made cream of squash soup and cream of tomato soup, all from scratch, for the week..yummy!   Derek mentioned casually that he may be taking his big screen TV next door to her apartment *s*..just keeping my fingers crossed that she is “the one”..they both really enjoy each other a lot, they both are so considerate of each other and  look for ways to come to agreements when they have different opinions so they sound like a great couple. To see him happy would make my heart sing..  Derek is almost 34 and needs a woman in his life..he has dated off and on for years and never seemed to find what he was looking for and now I think that Kathy is just the gal for him.  I am keeping my mouth shut, not trying to influence him....it has to be HIS decision (but I can HOPE *S* ). I send healing energy to Nan, Connie, Pat and all of you who are in pain…encouragement and gentle hugs to Susan…proud congratulations to Monica, such an inspiration!..and love to all. Nancy B  :  }

Nancy,

Stay warm.  We are getting colder weather here, but it is barely coat weather.  Today, I'm taking DH to the transplant doctor.  If my hubby's right eye has healed enough, then the surgeon will transplant to healthy corneas onto my husband's eyes.  When he gets the transplants, it will be the first time in over a year that he will have vision in his right eye.  His left eye is almost completely blind now, so we are hopeful.  The person who donnated his or her eyes will never know how much help he or she is doing.  I have always been a donnor but now I have talked my sisters into doing the same.

Well, that's it.  I'll be on the road for three hours there and three back.  I'm taking my Ipad and a text book and my macbook just incase he gets his eyes.  That way, while he is recovering, I can keep myself busy.  The surgeon said we will only stay in the hospital eight hours and then be on our way home.

Everyone, stay warm today.

Jeannie, a former coworker had the transplant and his sight is so much better. He had one eye done, then the other done. He said he has seen this well in years. Good luck.

Eileen, that's what they are doing with my DH.  First right eye, then left.  The surgeon said by the first of the year, he should have two new eyes.  My granddaughter, who is four, said, but Nana.  How will the other person see?  I said, what other person. She said, you know that person that gives Granddad his eyes.  I said, oh.  Well, they take them when the person dies.  She said. Oh.  Will it hurt?

Morning all, sober 383 days and so proud of me.
Nancy I am so impressed with your story telling, your words paint pictures. Grateful you are feeling  better. I had some nerve damage during my breast reduction and the pain it caused was like a toothache. I was so relieved when it ended.
I know how hard it is keep out of budding relationships with our kids. I was not pleased with our son Angus's last Gfriend. She was very high maintenance, did not like fishing or being outside much.But I kept my mouth shut. Was not surprised when he decided to move to MT without them as a couple anymore.  Hubby & I both wish we had been more open in our opinion of our Sara's husband choice. We both felt he was too selfish and self absorbed, but Sara loved him and she wanted him so.Watching their marriage fall apart hurt deeply and hubby harbors such hate for the man, I remind him that Emma & Alex would not exist if they had not been together.
So happy Jeannie that your hubby is mending well and that the surgery has been successful.
It is lovely here, clear and a little cool. Should hit mid 80's later. Yoda got groomed yesterday and looks so good. He came home with 4 fleas, called the mobile groomers to let them know that and to check the cages and grooming area. We had him shaved from paws to neck, leaving his ears curly and his upper head long. The cut is perfect.
Our new grand daughter Lincoln is 28 days old and have rolled from her tummy to her back 2 times. Sara posted a roll over on FB and it is cute to see her work to flip. Our other Gkids had wonderful report cards and are doing very well in school. Both Emma & Alex finished 1st and 2nd in their age groups in the regional championship swim meets. We loved to see them interact with the new little one, holding and talking with her.
Hope you all have a wonderful Friday. Stay warm and happy.
Monica
