Talk yourself into the routine
Today is walk/run and lower body stretches. I know that I will get used to spending the extra time in the gym, but I’m sort of resenting the meeting the trainer. He is nice, and we work well together; however, it’s the getting used to routine.
Creating new routines is hard. I resent that I am leaving thirty minutes early for the gym and staying an extra twenty minutes. That gives me a total of one and a half hours spent in the gym and I could be doing so much more with my time. That’s what I keep telling myself. I also keep saying but it’s only till the first of the year.
Okay, enough gripping. So, how are you going to move today? For those of you who are just starting an exercise program, don’t talk yourself out of it like I’m trying to do with the trainer. Stay strong and keep saying to yourself that this is for you and you are worth the extra time to work to improve all of your muscles, including your heart. Also, keep telling yourself how much you love the exercise and eventually you will enjoy that time. It’s all about creating a routine and developing a new attitude towards the actual exercise. I love weight training; I love weight training; I love weight training. Okay, it’s not working yet, but I am going to keep saying it.
