If you just WALK

My daughter and her best friend have been walking.  My daughter is almost six feet tall and has never had a weight problem, but she quit smoking a year ago and says she gained ten pounds.  She said to me, walking is the easiest way to lose weight. I cannot believe I haven’t been doing it sooner.  I told her that it is like a well-guarded little secret that once we figure it out, we cannot believe it works.  But, I needed to work on strength, so today is my first day with the trainer.   I have my log of food and activities to hand over to him plus a few other things that he wanted me to bring.  Today is also walk/run day.

I had an unplanned exercise activity: yesterday, I took my granddaughter home and my SIL had cut us wood.  He had planned on delivering it to us but had to work so he loaded as much as he could in the trunk of our car.  Since DH is blind as a bat, when we got home, I had to unload the wood and stack it myself.  DH tried to help but it was almost dark and he kept getting in the way because he cannot see as far as two feet.  But, I have to say that the stacking of the wood did look pretty impressive on my activity/food log.  I took a picture of the space before I unloaded the wood and a picture of the wood neatly stacked.

Walking, oh yes, walking. I'm walking a 1/2 marathon on Saturday, so believe me, I'm really, really walking.

I had a dandy response to your post yesterday, Jeannie, but for some reason it didn't show up. Nothing profound, just wanted you to know I read and responded (or at least thought I did)

Yesterday we spent about 3 hours sorting the garage and putting things up into the attic. Up and down the stairs (NOT my favorite thing to do) and today my butt muscles are sore. Good!  Means I actually did some good other than being able to park my car in the garage.

Not sure what today brings. I had scheduled to have my plastic surgeon revise the widened scar on my arm this morning, but sent an e-mail to his nurse on Friday saying I wanted to reschedule. Well, I've changed my mind, so I'll call and see if my slot is still available. If it is, I'll be sitting in my chair knitting. If it's gone, it's to the gym with me. That's AFTER I clean house!

Ouch.  How do they fix the scar?  Do they knock you out?

You and I both had the same weekend--cleaning and organizing.  My butt is so sore.

No, just LOTS of Lidocane. He literally cuts out the old scar and creates a new one. Hurts like hell tonight, but next summer it will be worth it. I'll keep telling myself that over the next few days..lol

Walking is it, it does not feel like enough and I can't do it for any great lengths, but it still beats nothing at all and I'm sure one day soon I'll be doing more.

Have a great day!

Walking is the best in small or large amounts.  Hopefully, you will feel better in a few days.

I agree walking is great exercise!! Before I broke my hip I was walking and jogging three miles a day, 6 -7 days a week. It was so good for me. I was able to maintain my weight with no problem. Now I have trouble walking 4 blocks!! I had tons more energy and I looked good.
I keep trying to get it back but I haven't been able to as of yet. Too much pain. I do keep trying.
I will do my free weights again today.

Have a wonderful day my dear friend!!

Thanks Connie and you too.  You will get your stride back.  It just takes time and you are making great progress.  But, you stick with the weights until you are feeling less pain in your joints.

Walking is the best, I enjoy walking/jogging in the pool too.
My doggies love to go around our country block which is 4 miles. Sophie hardly rides in the jogging stroller anymore. Happy, happy doggies!
I plan on walking tomorrow if it doesn't rain.
I woke up feeling crappy today, people around here are sick, getting the flu or colds now. Tis the season for the crud!
