House cleaning and working out

Today, I am not doing any planned exercise.  My dance partner and his husband are celebrating their 20-year anniversary and are going to the razorback game and something else.  So, I am making use of my Saturday.  I’ve cleaned hubby’s bathroom from top to bottom.  Since he is about to get his new eyes, I thought I should get rid of all the mold—just in case his new corneas are averse to mold and mildew.  Scrubbing his bathroom is, indeed, a chore.  It took me about three hours of mopping, scrubbing, soaking, and scrubbing some more—but it does shine.

I’m also stripping all the beds and mopping all the floors.  I usually only mop our bedroom, bathrooms, kitchen, and living room, but today, I added two more bedrooms, the long hallway, the dining room, and the utility room.  Did I tell you the floors are hardwood; which means, sweeping, mopping, re-mopping with wood cleaner, and then a slight coat of wax.  I think the floors gave me a better workout than six hours of dancing.  I am taking a short break and when I get my second wind, I’m going to empty the kitchen -cabinets and get the shelves washed and organized.  Hubby says, where do you get all that energy.  I want to say, not energy, but somebody has to clean up after your butt.  HEHE.

My goal today is to have the entire house cleaned, the laundry washed and put away, so that tomorrow, I can iron my clothes and hubby’s shirts.  Then, in the afternoon, I’m going to spend writing an article for a composition journal about Once Upon A Time Stories.  Maybe I’ll make the deadline.

So, tell me how you turn your weekly chores into a nice workout.

Cleaning is good for the heart and soul. I know I have a small space to take care of, but it does feel so good to have it all spick and span and ready for nothing but appreciation.  My body also appreciates the movement.

You are always so encouraging!!

I am doing my best to get in some form of exercise. With my left shoulder and left hip not working well it isn't easy! I refuse to do nothing. Slow wins the race.

When I do laundry I do plenty of running from the laundry room to the upstairs. Our main level is all hardwood floors. They are a lot of work!! Running up and down the stairs from the laundry room is plenty of exercise .  Putting away clothes, bedding and towels etc. on the second floor tires me out.  When I clean I start at the bottom level of the house and work my way up. This is a big house!! Glad I have someone to help every other week with the things I just can't do. Nic is a great help on the off week.  As far as cleaning goes I get more then enough exercise that way!! I am still looking forward to getting back on the elliptical one day soon.

Connie,

Make sure you let your body recover from the inflammed areas.  When I first came to graduate school, I lived for two years in a little apartment that had three upstairs rooms, and, of course then, I weighed well over 339 pounds.  I did all of my house work down stairs first and dreaded that run up the stairs with clothes and vacumn etc.  And, I had my grandson who wasn't two yet.  Those stairs, even small ones, can kick you in the buttocks.  Glad you are headstrong about moving--many give up and resign to the pain.  I'm like you; I won't be defeated.  Go Connie!
