It's Monday---what are you eating???
First, I'll report on my trip to the charity food fest. There were 30+ restaurants serving up samples of their most favorite dishes. Everything from cookies/brownies/bagels to shrimp etouffe (sp?). Lots of choices, with 15 booths on each side of the convention center.
Plate in hand and positive thoughts in my head I started through the first side. I had one slice (these are samples, so mind you, a portion is very small) of garlic sirloin, 2 sm slices pork tenderloin, a couple of bites of black beans and rice. I passed on the purple ice cream and saucy dishes, but just couldn't resist the bread pudding with warm brandy sauce. Felling quite full and pretty proud of myself, I followed Gary to the other side of the room, new paper plates in hand. On the way who do I run into? My surgeon's nurse! Yikes! Thankfully what I didn't eat of the bread pudding had already been thrown out. Whew!!!
On to the second side. Not one single thing there sparked enough interest for me to have anything. I was full and what was the point of pushing it? All in all I think it went pretty well. Came home and made vegan chili for dinner while we watched football with the kids.
Here's my plan for the day.....so far. I might be biking around lunch time(if I get my butt in gear around here), so I don't quite know what I do for that, but here's the rest
protein coffee
latte
high fiber tortilla with turkey sausage and 2% cheese
L?????Lunch ended up being a chicken drumstick. That's it.
D-- pot roast in the crock pot. Will cook up a bunch of roasted veggies and use all the leftovers for veggie beef soup later in the week.
That's all for now. Might be able to check back in later. Hope you all have a great day!
Susan
Today:

I didn't want to come here and tell the truth about where my journey is right now. My problem is not overeating or eating things that are not good for me. The situation is as follows: I do not want to eat. I do not like to eat. I've been trying to make myself eat once a day, but it's hard to do. I feel like I have developed an aversion to anything in my mouth (TMI here but I don't even put my dentures in most days.) I also vomit in my sleep most nights. so; very little protein, not near enough fluids, no vits, rarely taking my prescription meds. Probably why I am sick. I wrote Monica a letter about it and now have decided to share here as well. No getting well if I don't first admit the problem.
So here goes. I will try to do better each day:
B = 0
S = baked soy chips. Small package took me an hour to force down.
L = 1 cup of refried beans with cheese.
S = now drinking a protein drink (trying to)
D = I have no idea. Maybe a cup of chili with beans or peanut butter and part of an apple.
This is a lot for me. It's 3:45PM and I just forced my morning meds down. Have my noon pills out and hoping to take them in a few hours. Thanks for listening. Mag
I understand an adversion to eating, but what you are describing seems to go beyond anything in my experience. I'm most concerned about the vomiting in the night. It seems to me that you need to speak to your doctor very soon regarding this issue. The "head" issues are one thing, but you really, REALLY need to talk to your doctor about the vomiting.
Please tell him about your not wanting to eat. Everything can be connected, it's all a puzzle until you put the pieces together.
I'm glad you said something. You never know when someone else might have had these issues and have found a soloution, or need someone to go through this together. We're all in this journey together, right?
Take care, and let us know what happens. I WILL be bugging you about going to the doctor!!!

I guesss, since I have had the most experience with sickness associated with wls, I should tell you what I would do. First, you vomitting in your sleep sounds like reflux. I don't know if you had rny or lapband; either one, you should not have reflux. Also, the not wanting to eat and the gag relfex sounds like you are having a serious problem. Call your doctor now. Don't let him or her brush this off; make them do a CT scan. I didn't make them with me and I got down to 95 pounds and my pouch got so ulcerated that they had to build me a new one and for about a year, I had to have tube feedings every single night.
Don't play with this. Call your doctor. I have, only in the past couple of months, regained my strength so that I feel like I'm human. Until you get to the doctor, sleep with your head elevated and if you can get someone to do it, put blocks under the head of your bed. You could drown in your sleep.
Promise me you will get this seen about asap.
I am glad you got honest with us about what is happening with you, now please call your surgeon and/or doctor if you haven't already and get medical treatment for whatever is causing you to not be able to eat or otherwise take the things you need to be healthy. I truly am concerned, please let us know how and what you are doing.
Hugs, Laureen
