Work It Girl
Today, my friend and I are foxtrotting. He and I love to dance and we love to dance together. We coordinate our clothes and if we can, we even match my hat to his tie and even our shoes. A few months ago, we bought these ugly white cloth shoes that his husband studded out for us by putting these huge collered fake jewles all over the shoes. They are beautiful. We have sewn sequins all over my dress and once we even hand painted our shirts. He loves the glitz more than I and he loves recitals a lot more than I. I just want to dance a little, sweat a little, and call it a day.
I am also working today. Since this is Saturday and very few students will be at the University and since this is like homecoming for the Hogs, no one will be in my building, so I know I can go to my office and get a ton of work done. I have created a online writing lab for the University's business college and MOnday it is going public, so I am spending the entire weekend editing the resources that my students workers and I have created.
But, back to exercise:
I have always loved music and have used it to help me walk/run, clean house, and even shop. I plug the ears with the ear phones, turn the iPod to my favorite selection and let the music take my mind off of the unpleasant thing that I might be about to do or doing.
Today, find some music and stand with that music playing in the background. Sway a little, maybe swing your arms a little, and move your feet to the left then to the right. You don't have to knock your self out, nor do you need to do a lot of bouncing or hopping. Just slowly start letting the music move you.
Today, whether you walk, swim, run, stretch, deep breath, or dance, make your calories work for you. In the words of my dance partner: woooooooork ittttttt girllllll. Mooooooooooove ittttttttt sisterrrrrrr. You got it.
I'm an old band geek. Yup, there it is, I admit it. I still play with a community band here in the area, so all of the old traditional marching band music is in my head. I've loaded up my iPod with Sousa, John Williams and the like. The tempo is perfect, makes me take on the the correct posture and attitude when I walk, too.
John Phillip and I will be walking the river this afternoon. We'll have a grand time!
Susan
Annette,
my ipod is the best thing that hubby has ever bought for me. I listen to music during exercise, during house work, and even during stretching. I love the way the music drowns out my doubt and my excuses.
I am two left feet too. The real dancer is my partner and I'm sure he wishes I were more devoted to dance. But, we live in Arkansas and since man on man dancing isn't something that people here accept, he uses me as his dance beard. LOL. LIke the other dancers don't know.
Keep up the dancing and the moving.
Oh how I would love to see you dancing about in a jeweled dress and shoes!! Sounds like a wonderful time!!
We always have music playing in the background day and night. It is fun and also soothing and relaxing. Grace and I are always dancing around!
I will get on the elliptical when I get off the computer. I did some stretching this morning.
Have a wonderful day!!
HUGS.....connie d
Connie, I look really good if I include spanx body squishers, leg swishers, and even arm squishers. Otherwise, I am a jiggly mess. We are going to start doing square dancing; because my partner wants to wear cowboy attire and I want to wear the full skirts.
I'm so happy that you and Grace are keeping the music in your days.
