Saturday Happenings-What's Up?
Good Morning Everyone,
My prayers and love to everyone right now I am praising God for the love each of you gives so freely. Thank you for being in my life each day.
Today, it is supposed to be a glorious day, here in Southeastern PA. So, I am taking an AA friend to my nephew's Special Olympics soccer tournament. Villanova University puts on a great weekend for these athletes.
Before I go I will hit my morning AA meeting. I missed yesterday due to the fever I have had every afternoon, and evening,
I sure hope everyone is hanging in there.
Hugs,
Trish

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

Hello Trish and Off family,
I am with you in prayer and praising God. Have a wonderful time with your friend at the special Olympics.
I have developed a nasty cough. Please pray that it goes away fast. I don't want to postpone the surgery again. I realized that I'm not afraid of the surgery itself but of the pain associated with the femoral block that I will will receiving. I hope they wait until I am out and I won't feel it. I am use to pain as many of us are, but I just don't know what to expect. I am much calmer and know that God is watching out for me.
Hugs and blessings to you, Mag

Dear Mag,
Prayers are on their way for your cough, and for your upcoming surgery, I love Mucinex for the cough. My niece worked as a pharmacy tech, and she recommended it to me years ago.
I have never had a femoral block, so I have no clue what that's about, but I have had various surgeries, and my biggest fear is always them sticking the IV in. Oy, do I hate it. That's when I do my deep breathing exercises the most.
Yes, God has you in the palm of His hand, and He will not let go.
Love and hugs,
Trish

Mag, the femoral block doesn't hurt; I got it while I was wide awake. It actually will help you a lot post-op. I didn't even know about it until I got in the hospital, so you're ahead of me at this point. The nurse informed me of it and told me to go for it.
Also, if they advise you to have a spinal and twilight meds for your anesthesia, go for it. Much easier to come out of it. You won't be sick, either, from it. Although the second time I had it I had spinal headaches from it ... fortunately, they went away within four days.
I hope this works out for you better than for me. I know my case is an exception.

Good mornin' ya'll.
There are so many of us here that have or have had cancer. I wonder if we are within the statistics, or if folks who are overweight or who have had WLS are more likely to get cancer?
Last night was my DIL's dual party. Thirtyone and Gold Canyon. I wore my t-shirt that says "I'm having an out of money experiance", but I still spent too much money! I love, love, love t-shirts with a message. I have dozens of them!
My scales are going in the right direction. I'm still not losing as fast as I think I should be. All of my research said the weight loss with the sleeve is comparable to weight loss with RNY. I must be some kind of exception to that! I am losing but so very slowly, and mostly through sheer will power.
Big soccer game tonight for my grandson's high school. They are in the play offs. Most of those boys have played together for years and work together like a machine. The family of one boy changed duty stations 3 years ago and have now been assigned back here again, just in time for his senior year and to contribute to the victories! I love to watch them. None of them feel they are the 'star'. They all support each other and play so well as a team! But lots of them are seniors this year, so next year's team may not be as stellar.
I put together my 6 foot utility shelving unit and put them in the laundry room as an additional pantry. I took the doors off the other shelving unit (we never closed them anyway), and used them to make an additional shelf for my cookbook bookcase, also in the laundry room. Basically I built a rectangular box with no front and screwed it to the top of the bookcase. Two things you would think I wouldn't need, more room for food and cookbooks. Since there are only 2 of us and I rarely cook anything new.
Our OR grandson who is going to the military academy in SC has been studying Dubai. For his graduation in 2013 he wants his family to vacation there. Unless he can talk his parents into going THIS summer instead. I hear it is a beautifull place.
Everyone have a fantabulous, blessed day!

Good Morning Trish and OFF-
Chilly here this morning in Coastal Bend Texas. Did not want to get out from under the covers this morning. Slept really well last night, best in a while.
Not much on the agenda for the next few days. Unpacking things from the car into the RV and cleaning the RV of cobwebs and dust. Hope to visit with my dear friends in the area before leaving on Friday.
Duck hunting season must have started as I am hearing gun shots down the road. Ah the great Texas outdoors life.
My thoughts are with all of you in need of positive vibes. Trish, make sure you keep those ears covered while attending the soccer game, don't want to make the ear infection worse.

Through work I have joined TOPS. Yes, I run a bariatric support group but the leader doesn't get much support. This might be a good addition.
I was elected Treasurer- lots of paperwork but fine with me.
My imtent is not to take off a ton of weight, just to keep those pounds off.
After reading through the material, it looks like a good program. I will be a KOPS rather than a TOPS. (keep off pounds sensibly)
It will be very important to keep my shrink and therapist up to date. They know I gravitate towards wanting to get to super low and unhealthy numbers.
Baxter had a tick and I went bonkers. The Vet said I did the right thing by removing it abd to keep an eye on the area. Lots and lots of deer tick right now. Crap!

Good morning my OFF sistas!
Our OFF family is very precious to me! Just in case you don't read the Thankfulness thread today, let me just say it again here. I am thankful for each and every one of you today!
I have full schedule today, so this will have to be quick this morning. Doing lots of work for the POA Board today. I've got to get it behind me before I leave for Hilltop again next week.
I usually don't consider myself to be too terribly techno-challenged, but last night was proof that I am! I bought a little inexpensive HP printer for my laptop. I don't have a printer at Hilltop and sometimes I need one. I wanted to hook it up here and make sure it works before I haul it down there next week. OMG. What should have taken 15-20 mins tops, took me 2 hours to accomplish! I finally got that sucker to print! Now I just have to unhook it, box it back up, and move it to Hilltop, where I get to hook it back up again! Cross your fingers for me!
Heard from my sweet DH this morning and he's sick. Oh, he gets all sorts of bugs and colds and coughs from over there. I think the germs on that side of the world are different from the ones we have here. All those nice immunities that we have built up over here don't mean doodlely squat over there! I wish I could be there to take care of him.
Oh, and Carolyn, Butch says that Dubai is wonderful! Very clean and cosmopolitan and architecturally stunning. It would make a great vacation I'm sure. Even I would like to go see it, and I normally don't want to travel anywhere in the Middle East. People are always asking me, "Don't you want to go over there [Middle East] with your husband?" To which I invariably say, "Hell, no! I would look terrible in a burka!" LOL!
Now if he could only get assigned to Europe. . . .
Well, I must go and get started on my work for the day. Love and prayers to each of you, especially our two Nancys this morning, and Judy, Mag and Trish, who have all been feeling ill this week. Safe travels for our Monica, too!
Love you all!
