Vickie - try adding a box of s/f strawberry jello  to your cranberries -- helps to make it set up and also sweeten it.

Pat--that's an excellent idea!  Thanks!  Next time I go to town, I'll buy more cranberries and try it.  You have a recipe for this, or do you just wing it?

I actually have a cranberry conserve recipe that's really good -- I'll look it up and send ....  If I'm just cooking the cranberries, I use the splenda and the jello, and a bit of water.

I have made SF cranberry sauce with splenda in the past, and it was very good. I just followed the recipe on the cranberry bag but subbed splenda for sugar. it's not the jelled kind, but I like the whole berry kind better anyway.

Eileen--me, too!  Whole berry is my favorite.  I also like it with orange juice substituted for the water when cooking.  I have some more experimenting to do!

Hi Jane and my OFF family:

Sorry you have a cold. I've been lucky in that regard. Try some Celestial Seasonings Wellness Tea with Echinacea. Seems to lessen the severity of the cold for me. Won't cure it, but it's not as bad.

I'm up early today because I have to go to the pain clinic to get my vicodin prescription ... the prescription itself is just $4 or $5, but I get charged a copay for the visit, even though it's just a quick visit with the nurse (it's called refill clinic). It's a state law; you can't call in refills for narcotics. Oh well. Only got about four hours of sleep, too ... but it's my last day of work, then it's my weekend.

Well, I have to get in the shower and get dressed. Have a good day.

Quick fly by. . .

Jane nice to see you start us up, hope your cold feels better in a flash. . .

My day is being spent at my work station, we'll just see how it all pans out, but I'm optimistic and feeling decent so far, this back stuff is still bothering me, yesterday was the worst, just have not wanted to make doctor appointments, but will get on it this next week or so. . .  anyway, no plans, lunchtime AA meeting and other than trying to make something with the carrots I grated the other day when I get home, oh and my friend Owen stopping by to fix a door that keeps sticking, it will be a relaxing evening. . .

Wishing peace and strength to all facing life challenging stuff and let us look for the silver lining in the clouds of life. . .

Hugs, Laureen

Afternoon OFF family!!!

Well I went to see my pain dr this morning and we had a nice visit. He said he could tell the pills he had me on were starting to work. They are? I told him I still hurt ALOT! He asked me how I was sleeping. I said so-so. But I was starting to have dreams again. He said see I told you the pills were starting to work. He then asked if I was having any side effects from them. No not that I know of. He said ok he wanted me to up the dosage to 50 mg each time now. SO now I am taking 50 in the morning and 50 at night. He also upped my other med I take at night to 150 mg. So he said to see how that helped. OK I am game. He gave me more samples and said to let him know how that worked out for me. OK. He asked me when I hurt the most and I told him it seems I hurt more towards late afternoon early evening. I told him I sleep with the heating pad under my back and that seems to help me aot. He said ok. He also wants me to do ALOT of stretching to keep the muscles active and making them tired so I can sleep at night better.

Making some beef stew for supper tonight and a few nights after that it looks like lol. Starting to smell good that is for sure!!! I work 330-9 today and tomorrow. So won't have to worry about making anything to eat when i get home. Just warm up the stew in microwave for a couple minutes.

Nothing else new forme so going to get out of here before back starts hurting sitting here at computer.

Thoughts and Prayers for those that need them.

HUGS

Judy--this sounds cautiously optimistic!  Maybe all you need is a little more time and the increased dosage to get some relief.  I can't imagine what you have been through the past few weeks, but I do know it is TIME for you to get BETTER!  Praying for you, friend!
