Saturday Happenings-What's Up?

 Good Morning Judy,
I empathize with waking up with the pain.  I spent the past four years dealing with chronic pain day and night.  I have herniated discs, and the pain specialist has done cortisone shots and other procedures.  I currently have minimal pain, nothing like I have experienced.  However, the foot now wakes me up occasionally.

I hope you get some relief soon.

Hugs,
Trish

Trish, the dr says I have Fibromylasia. Not sure if I spelled that right or not but you know what I mean. I hurt alot. Mainly in my back and shoulders. I go back to see the dr on wednesday and hopefully he can give me something elsefor this pain.

I have also had things done in my back for pain. I have arthritis in it also. Facet joint blocks and I forget what else he has done for it.

Glad that you have relief in yours!! Sorry that your foot bothers you!! Mine still does from that dam quack of a foot dr!!!!

Judy, I don't know what to tell you about a stinky cat. What kind of cat litter are you using? Is it fragranced? Fragrance in cat litter isn't a good idea. Not good for you, not good for the cat. You can put baking soda in there if it stinks to minimize odor, but fragrance just makes it smell, that's all. Get a fragrance free cat litter.

As for the breath, there are some products you can put in the water that help with breath, or try some treats like Greenies or Temptations that knock off tartar (or just dry food).

Just some suggestions. Don't know why your cat would stink. Most clean themselves. As for a bath, I wouldn't use dog shampoo; just some dish soap and water, make sure you rinse well if you do wash, because the cat is going to lick himself and ingest the stuff. Cats don't like water so it's hard to bathe them.

I am using fragrance free cat litter. I will try the baking soda in it see if that helps. I have tried brushing him and he still has this stink to him!!! Its not his feet that smells...I think its his butt...Rick said Sassy used to smell and he used to scrub her butt good...so maybe we will have to scrub his butt...sighs...so far I have not seen him give himself a bath...how do you teach him to do that?

Thanks for trying to help me out here!

Judy,

I give my cats a treat that is made by purina and it is a teeth cleaner and refreshes their breath.  I do bathe my older cat because she just cannot keep her booty clean.  As far as their litter paws, I usually keep the litter box on a rug so that when they come out of the litter box, they walk on the rug which kind of helps keep their paws free of littler dust.  The best thing for that is to use a damp wash cloth that has a mild soap like baby shampoo.  Younger cats learn better grooming as they get older.  Until your cat can take care of that you will have to keep its paws and sometimes its little booty clean.  I have about four old white washclothes that I use just on my cats.

I am fortunate as far as my back pain; my doctor gives me a six month presciption of Loracet.  I rarely use them all, but I still get them filled because with my rhetmatoid arthritis and my back having those fx disk, well, I, like you, want to know that the meds are there when I need them and that they work.

I hope you get to go home for Christmas.  My mother died when I was a child and my younger sister and I were separated.  I am not close to her nor any of the rest of my family.  Every day I wish that my mother had lived long enough for me to have a good memory of her.  For people like you who have moms around, I cannot stress enough of how lucky you are.

Well, I have my two grandsons and they are both napping so while they sleep, I need to get some work done.

Well looks like we will hve to try and wash Busters butt for him because that is where he really stinks!!! His paws don't really smell but man his butt sure does!!! EWWWWW!!!!!!!! Will try what you said and see how that works.

That Loracet does that make you sleepy? Loopy? I never tried that before. I am so tired of this pain I could scream!!!! Dr said I have fibromylasia. And if that is what I have it sucks!!!

Need to get to my check book and figure out how to come up with money for a trip home for a couple days. I want to see  my family so bad. Guess I am home sick. I do talk to them every week but it not the same as actually SEEING them!!! Plus I am back with my kids after many years of seperation and that makes it even more of me wanting to go home again!!! And also seeing my grandkids!!! :-)

Thanks again for the info!!

Judy,

I only take half of my loracet.  I am supposed to take two every four hours as needed, but if I take two, I go to sleep.  I figured out that if I take half, they don't make me so sleepy.  Also, taking half dulls the pain.  At night, I do take one whole one and sometimes I take two.

It is extremely difficult to have a positive attitude when in pain.  My rheumatologists told me he would rather me be active and pain free than worry about anything else.  So, he is generous with my pain meds.

Your kitty probably was taken from its mom too soon, so it didn't really learn how to clean itself.  Plus, with my older cat, I do give her a tub bath about ever couple of nights.  She just doesn't take care of her own rear end like the other cats.

Good luck on saving money for your trip home.

Thanks for this info on the loracet. I will ask my dr about it for me and see what he thinks.

As for Buster...all I know about him is he was found in a parking lot and is about 6 months old now. So not sure when he was taken away from his mom. We bought some kitty shampoo and Rick is going to give him a bath tomorrow...this I gotta see!!! LOL I saw some kitty wipes at the dollar store I think so I am going to check it out later on today. Then we can clean his bottom off for him.

I did my check book tonight and I think I can swing a small trip home for a couple days IF we are really careful up til then...so now I have to turn in the request for a couple days off and see if I get them!

Will let you know how the bath turns out....LOL

Thanks again for the info!!

Good morning Trish and my sweet OFF sistas!

Butch very kindly let me sleep in a bit this morning.  I needed it after the day we put in yesterday.  I already posted a bit on FB, but let me repeat it here:

Girls, I can paint, I can wallpaper, I cut out a pattern and sew, I can crochet, I can even knit after a fashion, BUT--the one thing I cannot do is lay a tile floor.  OMG.  You can't imagine how frustrated I was yesterday!  I told you all that Butch would try to "supervise" me.  Holy cow.  Tempers flared, the "F" word was flying, and I burst into tears more than once!  But I got it done!  Posting progress pics on FB this morning.  However, I can say with absolute certainty that I will NEVER try that again!  Not my cup of tea at all.

SO we were supposed to be going home today, but hubby really wants to try and finish up a little more on the guest bath, so it's one more work day for us.  He says we're going to grout the tile, put up at least part of the wainscoating, and set the new potty before we leave.  Ambitious day.  But it would be nice to have another working potty in the house again, so I guess he's right about trying to get that much done before we leave.

Last night Chris and Benny came out for dinner and a visit, but I was too tired to cook, so we went out to eat instead.  That little Benny sure is a sweetheart!  He wants to feed himself with a fork.  All we had were the big forks in the restaurant, but I would stick a piece of chicken or veggie on the end of it, and he would maneuver it into his mouth.  Then he would crow and laugh and clap his hands--so cute.  Of course, we all laughed and clapped for him, too.  I sure am gonna miss him until I can get back next month.

Hubby says we must get started soon, so I'd better go.  I'll post progress pics on FB, if you want to see my attempt at laying a tile floor!

Love you all!

 Good morning Trish and everyone.....

Not a lot going on with me today. Still in horrible pain. I am so tired of having to take Vicodin and Flexeril every day just to get through the day. This is the 10th day now that I can hardly move around.
I am in a drug induced fog all the time and I don't like that. I see a pain doctor but not until Nov. 8th. Oh well enough whining for me.

I am watching Grace today as this is Jamie's weekend to work at her 2nd job. She will be home about 1:00PM or so. Grace goes with her dad at 2:00PM today until about 2:00PM tomorrow. I will get plenty of rest then.

Wishing you all a great day. Prayers and good thoughts for many of you here on Off. I am so glad I have all of you in my life!!

Love and many hugs....connie d
