Saturday Happenings-What's Up?

 Good Morning OFF Family,
I hope everyone is having a beautiful weekend.  I intend to, in spite of being very angry at a nurse at my hematologist's office.

I had an appointment for immediately after going to the lab for my INR (coumadin level) results.  It took longer than usual for the results to get to the doctor's office, so I left to see my podiatrst, as follow-up for my surgery on Tuesday.  They said they would call me.  After my appointments, Mom took me to the Amish Market in town here.  I picked up some dinner, and other items I like to purchase there.  When we got home, we ate, and played Scrabble, while I waited for the nurse to call me with my INR results.  After not hearing from them for a few hours, the office closed, and I took a call from my sister.  She had my INR results.  The nurse had called her number by mistake, as my sister is also a patient at this hematologist's office.

Not only did this nurse violate my HIIPA Privacy Rights, but he endangered my health, because of all the variables in that if my sister had not picked up her messages, I would not have known what dose coumadin to take over the weekend.  Plus, if he had called someone not in my family, I also would not have gotten the results.  So, I must calm down, and figure out what course of action to take in this matter.

Saturday has me washing my bedsheets, as I have spent pretty much the past week in bed.  Also, my sponsor is coming to drive me to an AA meeting, as I can't drive yet.  I won't be able to drive until the stitches come out.  After the AA meeting, we will grab some supper, and then Mom is supposed to come over and beat my sponsor and me at Scrabble.  I lost two games in a row to Mom so far this visit.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hugs,
Trish

thanks for starting the thread trish, hope your weekend is wonderful and you can let
go of your anger, although i fully understand where you are coming from.

im trying again to get myself back to a better place.  i have regained some weight
and im frustrated with myself that after a lifetime of dealing with this problem, im
again feeling helpless in the face of FOOD.

ive had a better week this past week than in a long time, so im hoping that i can
count that in my mind as a small success.

one step at a time i guess for me.

wishing everyone a fab weekend, it feels like Fall here in Jersey today, i guess
the seasons are moving on, time for pumpkins and apples.

hugs to all, especially those in need,

Jacki

 Hi Jacki,
I am calmed down about the doctor's office stuff.  I wrote a complaint to submit to the Department of Health and Human Services and submitted it via e-mail this morning.

I have been trying to return to Overeaters Anonymous for a few months lately, when healthy and in town.  There, I find strength to deal with my food addiction, which is just as frustrating as my alcoholism.

Congrats on having a better week.  I count the baby steps as vitally important in my overall recovery.

Hugs,
Trish

Good Morning Trish and OFF-

Trish I hope you work through your anger and focus on healing those toes.  Forget the HIPA part and focus on the fact that the nurse did not call the right patient with the results.  It should be reported to the doctor's office so they can make sure that it doesn't happen again.  Good luck with those Scrabble games this afternoon, hope you win.

Mother nature brought rain for the last two days, especially heavy last night.  Now the yard is littered with fallen leaves.  But Mother nature  being wise and all knowing is bringing heavy winds to dry the leaves and move them into the woods.  I will not stress about raking until the spring.

I'm in the shutdown checklist mode right now.  I have a two page checklist of things to do to get ready to close the cabin for the winter.  By next weekend I will be ready to hit the road and start my migration to Texas.  Have to stop in NH and see two doctors there, then on to Texas to get the motorhome out of storage.  I am having my usual change anxiety and it has been rough going.  I want to comfort myself with food.  Have a NUT appointment on the 19th which is keeping me from indulging.  I'm not going to meet the goal she set but will be fairly close unless I go crazy with food.  Funny how habits and addictions bother us throughout life.

Tonight I'm going to dinner at a friends house.  It will be interesting to see how it goes.  The hostess knows about my surgery and has a tendency to be rather dramatic so we'll see.  It will be nice to gather with them one last time before leaving.

When I'm in premigration mode I always have those thoughts about whether this is the right way to live my life.  Perhaps I should sell the cabin(s) and buy a place where I can stay put year round.  Just haven't found that place that I want to live year round.  So back to Texas which I enjoy very much in the fall, winter and early spring!

Hope everyone has a great weekend and that everyone's recoveries go well over the weekend!

Good mornin', ya'll.
Trish, I hope you get this straightened out. You are right, your results are your results and there needs to be accountability. I had a Dr. in OR who had a call in system. If you had tests done, you would call a number, key in your specific patient number and the computer would give you your results!
Vickie, I hope your foot heals quickly, and you can be back to driving soon. I know it must be a pain to have to rely on others for trips out of the house!
The couch is DONE. Whoo hoo!! I spent the entire afternoon at our son's house, with my sewing machine, fabric, staple gun, twisty pins, iron....well, you get the picture!! Now, the only thing that has to be done on it? Our son will have to turn it upside down and find out how to pull the excess fabric all the way through and where to anchor it to the frame with staples.
Since I got everything done with so much time to spare, I decided to make a flapper costume with some left over material we bought at a very good sale price but had no specific plans for.
The very best news though......my weight stall seems to be over. I
am losing!! I decided to only weigh on Saturday mornings since I was getting so obsessed with every single ounce. I am just so thrilled. I know I am on my way back down to my size 12 clothes!!!
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Woo Hoo!!!!!!!   Congratulations on completing the sofa.  That is awesome!

Not sure if I shared about the sewing machine that my friend won.  My sister is the fund raising coordinator for the county Special Olympics, and they had a Dinner Bingo fund raiser Tuesday.  I could not attend, but gave my sister money to put in raffle tickets for a Brother sewing machine that is the same kind they use on the television show, Project Runway.  Well, while I did not win, a dear friend, who also leads our Ladies Bible Study won instead.  She said, I could go over and use it anytiime I want.  It has embroidery capabilities and everything.  So, I hope to make Isabel some items with her name, or initials on them.

I do have some patterns for infant sleeping gowns, the kind that tie at the feet, instead of having legs to deal with when changing those diapers.  I plan to buy some jersey type material for them, and make a bunch for my new grandchild.  They are hard to find these days, and my daughter loves to use them early on, because it is so much easier to change into, and to change diapers throughout the day.  The pattern calls for a zipper, but I am going to make a seam partway up, and then a few snaps just below the neck.  I hope my idea is feasible.

So proud of you for accomplishing such a feat.

Hugs,
Trish

Morning all, sober 349 days and so proud of me.
Campground is packed for the Halloween weekend festival. Such creative and fun displays. Many people have decorated to the "nines". Lots of kids so we need to get more candy for trick or treat.
Always stuns me that so many kids and adults do not wear helmets while riding bikes.
Watching AMC's Stephen King's movies. Good entry into the scary movies that will be playing the next weeks.
Great Yoda walk, lovely outside.
Hope you all are doing well and enjoying your weekend.

 Congratulations on your sobriety, Monica.

Thanks for reminding me to get more treats for Halloween.  I have some, but I don't know if it is enough.

Enjoy this glorious weekend.

Hugs,
Trish

Good morning Trish and my sweet OFF sistas!

We are up and doing well this morning.  Butch had a very good night after his knee surgery yesterday.  So far, he has not needed a single pain pill!  Amazing.  He had that PRP therapy (platelet rich plasma) done during his surgery, which is supposed to really speed up healing and recovery time.  We are feeling very optimistic about his results.  Dr. said he found quite a bit of calcification in the joint, as well as moderate arthrisitis, and of course the torn meniscus.  No wonder the poor man could barely walk.  So, hopefully, he is on the road to a better quality of life once his knee has completely healed!

I am doing okay, although the 3 hour drive to Houston and then another 3 hours back again last night was a killer.  The traffic in Houston yesterday afternoon was just indescribable.  I know I was born and raised there, but I've definitely lost my mojo!  I can't drive in that bumper to bumper traffic anymore.  I'm a country girl.

Anyway, my food has just been completely off the charts the last couple of days, and I was afraid to step on the scales this morning, but I'm down a bit more, so thank Heaven for small favors.  Yesterday I had McDonald's and Sonic both in the same day!  I haven't had hardly any fast food at all for 8 months, and I have to tell you, it tasted awful to me.  So greasy.  Yuck.  I like eating my protein and fresh fruits and veggies.

So, we're having a quiet recovery day here at Hilltop.  Both our girls and Benny are here, and it's so nice just having family time together.  Butch is getting quite spoiled with all the attention!  Which is good.  He deserves a little spoiling.

I need to get started on breakfast.  Bacon and eggs for the whole crew.  I feel like Grammylew!  LOL!

Love you all!

Hi Trish and my OFF family:

You're right, the nurse violated your rights and could have caused a lot of harm by not reaching  you. Bad mistake on his part.

Yesterday was busy and exhausting and very painful. No matter how many pain drugs I took last night (no, I didn't take more than allowed), I had problems sleeping and was in pain. Still in pain this morning. But today I am officially free of the condo in Michigan.

Congratulate me, I'm no longer a homeowner! Yippee!  (This is the only way I can jump.)

It took forever to find a notary ... who knew? I should have just gotten on the phone and called the notary on wheels and saved myself the grief.

So I got up with a headache this morning and now have to work tonight. It's kinda gone away with my migraine med and the icepack. But still not feeling really good. Just kind of out of it.

Well have a good day.
