It's another busy day for the Poe household!  I've got a haircut at 8 a.m., and was grateful to get it!  Michael has been cutting my hair for 20+ years.  When I called and asked if he could squeeze me in this week, he agreed to meet me at 8 a.m., a whole hour earlier than he usually starts.  How sweet was that?

I also have my well woman exam this afternoon.  I can't wait to go and step on the scale today.  Dr. Hill is going to be so surprised!  She's been advocating Weigh****chers to me for years because that's what she uses to lose and maintain her weight.  Last year I told her I was seriously considering gastric bypass, but I don't think she really believed me!  Today I get to show her the results!

Also, DH has his follow up appt with his doctor for his prostate cancer treatment.  He hates going for those, so I have to be extra supportive today.

And one more medical footnote: yesterday we went to see two orthopedic specialists in Houston for Hubby's knee.  Bottom line is that he needs surgery to repair a torn meniscus.  But, and this is the reason we made the trek to Houston, he's going to get some cutting edge PRP therapy during the surgery.  PRP means Platelet Rich Plasma.  It's made from the patient's own blood before the surgery and it works similarly to stem cells.  Surgeon says the PRP will vastly improve his healing time post surgury and should stimulate his body to RE-GROW the torn cartiledge!  Amazing, huh?  We should get his surgery date today, but looking for it to happen sometime early next week.

Anyway, we are both sick and tired of doctors this week.  We're ready to do something fun!  Not sure how much fun it's going to be, but tomorrow we're loading up the trailer and heading out to see both our daughters.  Going to Waco first, spend one night there with Carrie.  We'll have a small load of things for her on the trailer.  Then Saturday we're headed back down to Hilltop with the rest of the stuff.  A couch, dresser, cedar chest, etc.  Right now we plan to just settle in at Hilltop and make the trip back to Houston for the surgery next week from there.

So, I'd better get crackin'!  Much to do today.  Lord, give me the strength I need to get through today with a smile on my face!  Amen!

Love you all!

Hi Vickie and my OFF family:

Vickie, I have heard about PRP; I actually looked into it in Michigan for my tendon damage after my first knee replacement, but ortho doc No. 2 said he'd never heard of it (although they were doing it at University of Michigan) and said it was being done by a doc that wasn't a surgeon. Now, I read about it all the time being done to athletes. I wonder if it would help my right knee problems. Of course, my crappy insurance probably wouldn't pay for it now. A woman I met in an online knee forum (yes, they have those, too) got it after having tendon issues from her knee replacement and had good results.

Not much else happening; last night was a rough one at work. Didn't make deadline on my second paper and I was in a lot of pain at the end of the night. I'm really not feeling very good but off to work I go again. Tomorrow, I'm off. And Saturday.

Anyway, I was applying for jobs and now I need to get in the shower, then have lunch and get ready for work. Have a good day, everyone.

Eileen,

Here's the website for the doctor we visited in Houston:

www.houstonsportsdoctor.com

There's quite a bit of information on his website about PRP therapy, stem cell therapy, etc.  Maybe you can do a little research.

I hope your insurance will pay for the PRP if it's what you need.  I didn't really expect it to, but I think ours is going to pay.

Good luck!  I know you need some relief from the pain.

Good morning Vickie and all my OFF sistas.

We have and are having gorgeous fall weather here in Michigan.....70's during the day with bright sunshine.  The trees are nearly at peak with the most awesome colored leaves.
I got all my flower gardens cleaned out yesterday afternoon except the rose bed -- that needs to wait until frost.

Heard from my friend that his son-in-law is still in a coma .... 9 days now - not good.  Please keep the prayers coming for this young man to heal and return home.    Part of me is being selfish wanting Jim to come back so we can be together.....I know that's not Christian and I ask for forgiveness all the time.

I have finally broken 240 lbs.....I had regained up to 253 and this morning I weighed in at 239.5....woo hoo,
I am so happy I could almost dance.   Do you suppose loving someone has anything to do with that?

The Noah's Ark baby bib is 3/4 done -- just a few more cross stitches on the elephant, then all the back stitching.  The baby was actually born on Oct. 4th, so I'm catching up, as usual.

Time for some yogurt and Kashi GoLean for breakfast.

Good thoughts and prayers for all my friends...

Hugs,

Good mornin' ya'll.
My DH is a sweetie, but he usually pays no attention to details. He always does the laundry. When the basket is full, he runs the washer, puts them in the dryer. I fold them and put them away. I put a color catcher thing in the basket occassionally. Last time, he noticed it, thought it was a paper towel and removed it. He now has pink underwear. While I am gone he also has to run the dishwasher. We used to use Cascade gel packs but I switched to Finish last time cause I had a coupon. When I got back from MX he said there was something wrong with the dishwasher we needed to call someone. When I loaded the dishwasher I found 2 Finish packets UNOPENED in the bottom! He thought they were like the gel packs, just throw them in! Our son said when he came for lunch the day after I left, all the bowls in the cupboard were dirty. He checked the dishwasher, saw the unopened packet and told his Dad. My DH either didn't hear, didn't remember, or ignored him, cause he obviously did it once more before I got home!
Still no weight loss with this sleeve!! I upped my treadmill, increased my food intake some (I forget to eat when I am doing a project), and hope that helps. I am exactly the weight I was the day of my surgery. Are my scales busted? Hmmmm.
Today, kitchen curtain for DIL, unstuff, restuff and cover one couch cushion to see how it looks, and play with my new iPad.
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Caroline,

Sending you {{hugs}} and best wishes for moving those darn scales!  So frustrating, I know!

Hang in there.  You are doing everything right.  It will happen.

Good Morning Vickie and OFF Family,
I have had a hectic morning so far.  Had to jump out of bed and scoot to the doctor's for my B12 and pneumonia shots.  I barely moved my car in time to avoid the street sweeper.  He was literally stopped behind my car when I put it in Drive.  The ticket for not moving it is $15 a pop.  I got 8 of them last year.  So far, I only had one this year.

On the way home from the doctor's, I stopped at Walmart and got chili fixings and tea and Splenda.  They did not have lemon juice, so I have to go elsewhere to get that.  I put together a crock pot of chili, a double batch, now that I have an extra freezer.

The rest of the day has me walkng Utley down by the river, and working on the bedspread I am making for Isabel.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Hugs,
Trish

Good morning Vicki & all!! I am so excited, sometime in the next week or so we are headed to Texas. I can't wait to see my girls. Got all my applesauce & apple butter done & ready to take to them. My son is is indy signing out of the base there & when he is done we will drive down there & follow hin to Texas. We will be there until at least halloween, Morgans Birthday. Her sisters Birthday is Nov. 9th so we will celebrate both.

My son found a house to rent down the street from the ex, so the girls will have access to both parents all the time.

Morgan seems to be doing good with the gallblatter out. Her pain is a lot less. She still sleeps a lot & can't go to school at all this year, except maybe to visit once in a while. A teacher comes to the house 1 or 2 times a week if she is having a good day. She is advanced because she had private teachers last time she was sick. Plus she had her dad full time for over a year & he worked with her too. So when she goes back in a year she will be right on schedule. Well I am sorry for rambling, it's just great to have some happy news!!!

Know that you are all in my thoughts & prayers, for fast healing & good news for all of you!
