Surgery is a little over a week away.  I just want to hear what it was like for someone over 50 who had this done.  I need to lose 100+ pounds and am motivated to live longer.  Any words of support out there?

Welcome,
Will you please tell us your name? Makes it more friendly.

I had RNY, not lap band but have done very well.

A few people in my support group are over 50, had the band and have done well.

Good luck

Just saying WELCOME to OFF...we are a friendly group....not so much drama as on  some of the other boards. We have had various surgeries. I personally had RNY and am so happy I did!!

I am sure you will hear from others that know more info about Lapband. Good luck on your upcoming surgery!!

Hugs....connie d

I'm 60 yrs. old and had a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy.  Took me about  2-1/2 to 3 weeks to start feeling normal again but the VSG is much more invasive than a lap band.  You will be fine.
Best wishes!
