MONDAY MONDAY
LOL! Karen, I'm a former English teacher, too, and I hate lay/lie! Nobody here ever says it correctly. You know how your ear gets trained to hear it one way, and your brain KNOWS you're saying it wrong, but you say it anyway? I could handle just about any other sticky grammatical or usage problem in front of my class except for lay/lie!
Yes, Linda, that is exactly right! Only my whole life I have heard things like, "Go lay down and take a nap" or "I'm gonna go lay down now". It gets in your head and it's very hard to correct it! It should be "Go lie down", but knowing it and saying it are two different things! I always managed to flub it up in the classroom!

I wasnt there that day, saw it on TV and watched in horror as it all happened . I would imagine had I been there, I would never be the same again.
Such sadness for those that lost ...My son went to there last year to visit the place where it used to be ,..he left with such an incredible sadness.
I would like to go someday too . I think that unless someone was there , they cant really understand .
Hugs to you for the loss of your friends

Thanks Shirley, indeed we all lost something that day and I do try to focus on the fact that we have found something out of all that too, but unfortunately, some are forgetting and going back to their old ways. . . America is blessed with it's diversity and it's spirit was wounded, but we are a resilient lot. . .
My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen

Good morning Shirley and everyone.....
Shirley...hope your day was just as wonderful!!
Laureen...you should have posted yesterday. Your feelings matter to us. I am so sorry for your losses on that awful day.
Trish....prayers coming your way. Hope they can do something more to help you with that Cellulitis. That must be just miserable to deal with.
As for me....still sick but a wee bit better. I got up early and got Grace off to preschool. Grace was so excited. She loves school. Nic left for collage classes at the same time she left. She loved that!! Grace goes to classes MWF from 9:00 to 11:30......this is MY time. I actually can get on the computer in the AM!!!
Today is laundry and library day....need to pop over to Facebook and then get started. I see a nap in Grace and my future this afternoon.
Have a terrific day everyone. Prayers going up for so many in need. Extra special prayers for Morgan and family.
Love and hugs to all......connie d

Good morning, my OFF sistas!
Happy Monday to you all. I feel somewhat human again this morning. Not 100% yet, but much better. Trish, I'm praying for you and that your doctor can help your cell---tis(?). Sounds just awful from what you described, but try not to let it pull you down. You went through so much stress with the move, I'm not surprised your body got sick.
Laureen, I thought of you yesterday several times. You did share your story from 9-11 at some point this year and I remembered reading it. We will never forget.
Grammy, I'm sorry for the leak in your band, but you've been having trouble with it ever since I joined this forum last Feb. I think you might be on the right track with a revision surgery. Does your surgeon in Mexico do those, too? If you'll remember, I had a Molina band in 1993 and although it worked great for the first 5 years, it too ultimately failed. Praying for you that you can make the best decision for your specific situation.
I can't remember who else I wanted to address right now, but I've been reading all the posts all weekend and keeping up with everyone. Oh, yes, Karen, I'm glad you're feeling better! Geez, what you have been through the past 3 weeks! You are one very strong lady.
So, let's see, life at Hilltop has been very pleasant so far, even with me being sick. The deer are amazing. I'll try to take some pictures. Just haven't felt up to it for the past couple of days. The bucks have grown so big! Huge antlers for this part of Texas. Central Texas deer are usually middle sized. It's the South Texas deer that are big. But these are pretty impressive. My little mommies and their babies all look a bit worse for wear. This drought is a killer. The does are very thin--their ribs are visible--but they're not emaciated yet. But the fawns are now big enough to forage and eat corn, so that will help the does to stop nursing. I bought another 100 lbs of corn yesterday.
I plan to start painting today. I may not be able to get very much done, but I'm going to make a start on it. Except for this ugly cough and congestion, I actually feel pretty normal today.
So I know I promised not to, but I got on the scale this morning and I was exactly 200.0! Geez, one more ounce! I really, really want to see a number on the scale that starts with a ONE, not a TWO! I feel like a kid waiting on Christmas morning to arrive.
Still haven't been able to see my Benny, but now that I'm feeling better, I hope I can see him by Wednesday. Just talked to my daughter and we made tentative plans for her and Benny to come to the lakehouse on Weds, IF I'm still on the mend and no longer contagious. First room I'm going to paint is the playroom. I want to hang my Winnie the Pooh curtains, but not until I've gotten the painting done. I also ordered some really neat toys and things for the playroom last week that should be delivered here this week. My daughter asked me to keep Benny for her next weekend so that she can go out of town to visit her BFF who's getting married in January. So I hope that I can have the playroom all finished by Friday.
Well, this is a long, rambling post, isn't it? Sorry 'bout that! I'd better close and get my butt in gear.
Love you all!
